I apologize for cross posting.
I've not gotten much of a response from the original thread, which perhaps was in the wrong area.
Here is a
link to the original post.
And here is what was posted.
I'm using a Merc Zboard Stealth, Win7 64 bit.
Without going into too many details, so far I must keep num lock on to utilize the numpad keyes.
I was able to bind Numpad keys 1-8 without issue through the keybind options menu, but entering numpad 9 does not register in the menu. The numpad 0 key does not register either.
The numpad 9 key is not broken, I have tested it repeatedly in other games and functions.
I've done a google search and others appear to have (had) this same issue with STO, but I have been unable to find a resolution.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you activate the chat window, and then hit the 0 or 9 key, what shows up?
Does it have profiles for different games? If so, you might be able to change the output of the key to something that works with STO.
Now that you mention it I to would love to be able utilize my Zero and Nine keys. I can not think of any logical reason why we should not be able to.
Anyone out there with some thoughts or solutions on the matter?
I should add that I am sure we all would like to utilize those keys.
for example:
/bind Numpad9 "UseTraySlot 0 9" - will activate slot 9 row 1
/bind Control+Numpad9 "UseTraySlot 1 9" - will activate slot 9 row 2
/bind Alt+Numpad9 "UseTraySlot 2 9" - will activate slot 9 row 3
/bind Numpad0 "UseTraySlot 0 10" - will activate slot 10 row 1
/bind Control+Numpad0 "UseTraySlot 1 10" - will activate slot 10 row 2
/bind Alt+Numpad0 "UseTraySlot 2 10" - will activate slot 10 row 3
Hi, it's not a stupid idea at all.
In the chat window, hitting 0 or 9 keys results in a 0 / 9 showing up in the chat bar.
The Merc Stealth does have its own mod programs and is macro capable.
I tried changing the output of 9 to shift+9, but that had no effect when entered using the numpad 9 key.
However now that I mention it, i was trying to input shift+9 into the keybinds options menu by hitting the numpad 9 key once I had made the macro.
When I get home I'm going to try hitting shift+9 independently to create the keybind within STOs menu, and then use the mod software to have the numpad 9 key's output = shift+9.
Hi, since you're having the same trouble as me I would like to ask:
What is your OS and what keyboard are you using?
Correct, activation for the tray.
I attempted using the binds from STO Wiki via the chat box (as well as directly in the text file), but I've never really been great with key-binds this way.
I'm going to try tonight to input the binds you listed and report back.
Thanks for the help.
You were able to do bind 1-8 with NUMLOCK off? I should think NUMLOCK would have to be on anyway to prevent the number keys from acting like arrow, Home, End, etc.
Thank you again for yours tips. Just one question. Where in my UI user interface, do I enter the keybind commands in the first place? Is it in area where I select the ready made Cryptic keybinds?
This is my first time at attempt at keybinding outside of what is provided by Cryptic at a click of a mouse and key stroke to adjust.
Thank you! By the way do I need ito be in any particular forum setting such as fleet, team etc? Just type the commands in and press enter?
The devil's in the details.
That's correct, numlock needs to be on or the numpad special keys act as you mentioned.
I just tried to copy and paste this into the chat bar, but unfortunately the numpad 9 key is still not able to be used to input.
I also tried the other method I mentioned earlier, but the numpad 9 key still will not register in the keybind options menu.
I found this as well, no resolution though:

Of course, I may be completely wrong. That is always an option.
I just want to clarify, I leave my NUMLOCK on all of the time.
However, the numbers 9 and 0 specifically do not register within the keybinds options menu, this is with NUMLOCK on.
They function in the chat bar of the game with no issue, but pressing these two keys (and these two keys only) simply does not register in the keybinds menu.
I got it to work right now by doing the following:
Go to Options -> Key Binds
Down to Skill #9, #10
DISABLE NUMLOCK!
Now you can remap skill 9 and 10 to the numpad keys 9 and 0.
Re-enable numlock.
Do the same for Ctrl and Alt.
And final step, make sure you have re-enabled numlock and rejoice
EDIT: You don't even have to re-enable it.
STO is not accepting input from the physical keys with NUMLOCK on.
I've tried mapping them to other keystrokes, with no luck.
I tried this just now, but unfortunately the key does not respond when pressed.
I was able to map the keys with NUMLOCK off, but once NUMLOCK was turned back on, pressing them did nothing.
Thanks for trying to help though.
Huh, strange, worked for me. Tried remapping Ctrl to Shift, that failed completely the way you described it. Fun fact: After I did remap the 9 and 0 keys, the system forgot my 1 key, had to remap that, too.
I'm stumped at this point for options on how to resolve this.
I'm not even sure where to begin looking for more ideas.
I created a bind file and then added:
Numpad9 "UseTraySlot0 8"
I hadn't noticed when I previously attempted this, but when I press this key this is the message I get:
[System] "TrayExecByTrayNotifyAudio" takes 5 argument(s).
[System] trayexecbytraynotifyaudio <int> <int> <int> <string> <string>
