I have a grandfathered captain and traded an epic quality Bridge officer to a friend of mine to give to my other captain. However, She can not give it to my other captain. Says I dont have room even tho I have 3 officer spots open and none in waiting. Any clues as to why this is happening?
Its a human tac officer. I know it can be traded because I traded it to her. She cant trade it back to me tho because it says I have no room. However I have 3 open slots and no candidates as mentioned before.

And it's not a Veteran BOFF right?
If you got 3 Empty BOFF Slots and no Candidates in the roster, then the only thing that would stop you is if there was bound items on that character. Unless you have a silver account and its showing something that really is locked? (Which would be odd since the empty slots supposed to be grandfathered in).
I suggest write a GM report and test your character by buying a cheap BOFF off the exchange and add it to the roster to see if its working.
I had the exact same problem happen to me. I had three empty slots, and another F2P player couldn't give me their BOFF to train. It was one of the common ones, which didn't make any sense. I could send one to them, but not the other way around.

Don't F2P players have trading restrictions or am I thinking of the old trial accounts? If so, that's it. If not, it may be because, on a tech side, F2P accounts seem to be based on trial accounts and this may be a bug. I'm sure it will need to be changed by Cryptic either way.

You don't have to trade it someone different to give it to another of your own characters.
Go to the Mail in a Starbase.
address the mail "@your username" you don't need list a specific character, just your username. So @Shamakaze for you.
Open you Crew Stations window and drag the officer that you want to trade in to one of the boxes at the bottom of the Mail.
Send the Mail.
Now, you can log in to your other Captain.
Go to the Mail at a Starbase.
Open your letter you sent to yourself.
Use the Take Items button.
Tuh-DUH! You have just sent yourself one your other characters Bridge Officers.
EDIT: I should point out that you cannot mail Bridge Officer Cross Factions. You can only get Starfleet Officers on Starfleet characters and only Klingon-side Officers for Klingon-Side characters.
Wait? You can mail commissioned bridge officers? I thought you could only trade them...
I spent a day trying, about 1000 times to mail commissioned trained BOFFs between chars.
I have an eng in a retro defiant, and I want my tac Boffs trained by a tac captain to certain high level skills, which my alt can provide incidentally.
Confirmed, I just lost my TSSIII officer to one of our F2P players in my fleet...Cryptic, would you be a doll and fix this.
Hello,
Please use the link in my signature and submit a community support ticket describing the situation as best you can and make a note that you were completely unaware that you would not be able to receive the BOff from the F2P player because of lack of clarification on the F2P matrix... If that is correct?
Is the trading thing one of those limited access things that become unlimited after a requirment is met? Because if it is you can just have your F2P friend go to the alienware game giveaway site, they still have keys for new players, comes with 10 days sub even, which still counts as sub and unlimits all our limited features. And it only has to be a newish account, not brand new. I had my account for a few days before trying it. Considering its has been less than 2 weeks since F2P launched all F2Ps should still be new enough for this giveaway.
And I know that the noobs don't do it because you have to make an alienware account to do it and they claim it sends spam. I have had it for a year, no spam, it is a lie, don't listen to the noobs that say it spams your inbox.
Have them get the giveaway key, have them use it, and then try trading to see if it fixes the problem. Might be a quick fix.
Same thing happened to me.
I have been trading boffs all week to get level 3 abilities without a problem (at least 4 times) and then I did it last night and the other player couldn't give it back to me.
I tried trading a test boff to a random player walking by and having them give it back and that didn't work either.
Both were getting the error stating that I didn't have enough room.
I had three empty slots at the time for my commissioned boffs and my boff waiting list only had a few in it. I even got rid of three and it didn't help.
I put in a trouble ticket and it's been about 24 hours but no one has even looked at it yet.
The person who is stuck with my boff was nice enough to put in a ticket as well and stay in touch with me.
We tried multiple relogs, changing instances, having the STO launcher force verify all the files, and we tried again today and still can't trade.
Why was I able to do it 4 days ago but now I can't?
Cryptic better fix this.
While I am now a FTP customer I have put in 4 months paid time. If they don't resolve this they will never see a penny from me.

Some BOFFs are limited to 1 per character
BOFFs cannot be exchanged:

As stated above I have no officers in waiting.

Any word on this?
We're going to find ways of moving them between chars one way or another, may as well make it simple for us yes?

This is a pity. I had been hoping to train my own charries for my different captains.
You can trade most of them (not the really special ones) but they have to have no items in inventory.

CAN you trade to yourself? Mailing was the only way I that I knew to swap BOffs amongst your own Captains.
