We will be bringing down the shard for a restart on Saturday, January 21st from 8:00AM to 9:00AM PST (1600 to 1700 UTC). We will provide an update when this is complete.
seriously if this is going to be a daily reboot (and nothing else???) then FFS at least shuffle the times, when you do it
i am soooooooooooooo sick of daily downtime at (ny) EU primetime
you force me to stay up at night to properly play -.-
I'm agreed - if it's this routinely something has to be done. Whilst I can appreciate there's an element of 'we're free to play, tough' there are those of us who are still gold members remember?
Once or twice a week is fine, but daily without explaination is beyoind acceptable.

Agreed. I'm getting sick of the daily downtimes without proper explanation and during my EU playtime.
It's the same anti European behaviour during the Atari reign
When you a huge rush of new players, you got to constantly adapt and keep up in order to keep things smooth... I still have disturbing images of the great Romulan weekly episodes crash! :D
i personally would like to hear the reason for the daytime they use. What i mean is, its European primetime.
I'am at work the whole day, and i want to relax and play a little, when iam home, but i can't, because the first thing i get is "this shard will be down in 30min, god knows when its back online..."
Ok, enought sarcasm, but i really would at least like a patchnote, and a few of the major bugs fixed at least (like carrier pet control, random droping out of STF for global CD, the KDF "Report to Gamma Orionis" mission for example)
Are you people serious or just cramping heavily? It's an hour, not a whole day or even half a day. Spend the time taking a shower or eating or something.

The reason it goes down in primetime for you, is because here, in the United States, it falls around 8am (ish). That's the time of day with the lowest number of players in the game (on average). It just happens to be in the evening for you. Tell me, what's the better idea? Dropping the game and irritating a few hundred (Maybe a few thousand) players, or dropping the game in the evening in the United States, and irritating 50,000+ players? I'm just guessing at the numbers, as I do not know how many people play the game, but to quote Spock (And many others, throughout the years), 'The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.'
In this case, the United States are the 'many,' and Europe is the 'few, or the one.' It sucks, yes, but it makes sense overall.

Not sure if serious...
They had earlier maintenances for 1.5 years. What happened? They can't have maintenances on different times now? Of course if the plan is to have no european players at all I can tell it's starting to work.
The patches every day are annoying, but better to have it fixed and have a downtime of an hour than to have a bugged gameplay. At least some of us pay for it or have a lifetime account, so look at it as a service.

The time of the lowest player count changes over time. Just because myself (and thousands of others) play at 5pm Pacific time, doesn't mean that in three months, those same thousands of players won't be playing at 7pm Pacific. It changes. I seem to remember them doing maintenance (at one point) around noon Pacific. Now it's 8am Pacific. It changes, just like most things.
what part do you european's not understand about "we do maintenance when there is the least amount of players in game"? its that simple
"it's that simple"
yes, when it's not 6 days in a row. when you're always in that timeframe, you probably will try to find another solution, stop subscribing for example (for info, european subs are a lot more expensive than US ones)

I'll need a proof of that. Otherwise it's as accurate and true as saying "we have an entire team working on KDF content" last summer.
If that's true then STO has by far the least number of European players I've ever seen in an MMO. For example WoW has ~250 European servers and ~240 US servers. Rift has 54 European servers and 65 US servers. I have to say Cryptic has done something really bad to **** off european players so badly that there's less playing than in Australia/Oceania.
I think we might have a cause and effect going on here...

Yeah, stop fixing things!!!
I agree it is starting to get a lil bit of a joke. you would think they would have problems like this sorted. Or is this to be a daily thing!?
Maybe if they patch the simulator to...No wait. That'd involve downtime...
Fixing problems? Where does it say that anything is being fixed? All they are doing is restarting the servers.

At least it is happening just before Defera and not during.

Unclench!
Cryptic, I hope you will find a solution to this soon.

Read the earlier posts. I've gone over it twice, and others have also said why.
Maybe because they are doing this in their work time?
