Search the forums...there were PLENTY of people spouting that F2P would bring an increase of MILLIONS of new players. I was fully expecting the forums to be down and the game servers to be crashing all day with that much of an influx.
New users that joined today, won't have posting access to the forums, or access to zone chat, or ingame mail or PMs to people outside their friends-list for 20 hours played.
Realistically, that's still probably anywhere from several days to a couple weeks before they get access, depending on how much they play at a time. Even if they were playing constantly since it went live, they still wouldn't be able to post yet, because F2P hasn't even been live 20 hours yet.
Maybe F2P will bring millions of new players who will eventually make an account. That is not that unlikely. I doubt anyone was predicting that there would be one million active players twelve hours after the free to play doors were opened.
There are a lot of new lieutenants. Just look around earth space dock, quite possibly over 10,000. I do not think that is too shabby for the first few hours.

Some of them would, but I doubt that the first thing they would do would be to jump in here and start posting. There are a lot of ways to bypass the 20 hour limit.

If we went by the book, hours would seem like days. .. I stand corrected. Though if one played for an hour a day, it would take them 20 days.
My original point stands. The OP's troll thread of if these new players exist. let them speak up! has little basis in realism, since any new players are not likely responding to this thread, not because they don't exist.. more likely because of the simple fact that they're unaware of the forums, unaware of the thread, and/or blocked from doing so.

i honestly dont remember one single person saying millions would turn up. even if they did they would have been mistaken from the get go. someone's bad guess does not make the number of people that did turn up any less significant.
even if the number of people trebled or quadrupled the number of people playing would probably be no where near the million mark.
and even if there was one million people, only a tiny percentage of players ever visit the forums, let alone post in the forums, let alone have to deal with any of this muted stuff.
Well, I am new F2P player and I wonder about this 20 hours play requirement you speak about. I have played for about 4 hours. And, evidently, I am able to post a post to this forum.
However, there are so many forums (and the game itself seems quite vast) that it will take time to integrate to existing structures, fleets, starting interacting in forums, etc. For now, it is the game interface that is worth exploring.
But I believe, there will be million of new players, it just takes some time.

Welcome aboard. I might have some things to complain about the game, but overall I still find it quite an enjoyable experience. Here's hoping more find it likewise.
I think that the 20 hrs of gameplay limits things like in game chat. Honestly I can't recall though, and iirc there are ways around it.
And OP may forgotten that first thing new players would do is not come to this forum and say hello, maybe they simple in-game enjoying thier time? Or maybe they are still downloading the game coz they registered account just yday?
Or maybe you forgot only small % of whole player base (in any MMO) ever bother to come / read / write on forum? Player base -> only some % bother to visit forum -> only some % of ppl who visit forum bother to write on it, coz they don't feel like it or prefer simple to play game instead of looking at forums

Interesting. Are you sure you haven't played before? Even the first free month after purchase counts.
Did you buy any Cryptic points? That counts as well. (Maybe even for non-SZO Points?)
Regardless, I remember a dev statement saying that silvers would be able to post in some parts of the forums.

According to the Matrix 20 hours of play, a previous Subscription, or the purchase and/or use of Cryptic Points allows for posting on the forum.

New players? Sure. But not millions of'em. Geesh.

Edit: I stand corrected: Hours, not days.

Or in game...

Simple as that. :P
however, the point is i read many a comment to avoid the forum and the the forum people
your on f2p and some vets satart yapping about "noobs" - so i typed in "that is racist and stressfull and PUG declares war"
You are going to be real popular in PvP. I don't think you'll live very long, but you'll be popular.
with fed equipment
and to destroy all vets
i suggest vets level agin , get to lt cmnder, join arean or capture and hoild, face the PUG master, and die
anyone using the term "noob"= declare war and racism, and sue, and then challenge them in pvp
anyone on chat writing "need any help new players- just ask" will get the response of
"any vets need a frontal lobe or originalk idea? just ask"
we are PUG, we are anonymous, we are revolution

PUG players should buy a square shuttle and pvp to vice admiral and they can post as well\
or a tier one ship
and get a death consol
Oh, that's it. I bought Cryptic Points. Now it seems logical that I have access.
Enjoy it while it lasts. Without new mission content, those numbers will dip faster than you can say "Live Long and Prosper".
(Note: I too hope the game will get a resurgence of new players. But the game has problems, and they need fixing.)
He was using the Wrath Of Khan Code...
Now all thoses millions will know too....
<chuckle>
Who ever said there would be millions?
She... just sayin'.
You bet they did.
