this is exchange is broken. the value is getting too dam high or to low depending how you look at it. 291 for cpoints are you kiding me? this means we are in a recession... what on a game. really. in real life and on a dam game. this needs to be fixed. i dont know what would work. but in the last 2 weeks it went from 430 dilithium to 291 this market is crashig and soon it will be worth less. CRYPTIC needs to fix it and fast. Please fix it.

but it's a player dictated system.
Prices are what they are due to players.
If the Dilithium to CP goes down, then the value of Dilthium has gone up.
Considering there are restrictions on pricing posts, no less 50, no more than 500, then the 291rD/1CP you posted would be near the mid point of 275/1.
Therefore the Dilithium and CP "values" are near equal or balanced.

Cryptic can't fix it, the market's basically going where it was in early December before the winter boxes created a huge new demand for C-points. I and others saw it coming.

Also, Dilithium value is rising, not falling - the same amount converts into twice the C-points it did a couple weeks ago. It's C-points that are falling, and like I said - many people saw that coming because with no winter boxes, there's no longer a bottomless pit for people to dump C-points into.

shouldnt that be a good thing? with the prices that 'low?' gives you a chance to get more points for stuff you want. and as said before, its player driven. would you like it to go back up to 490 dilithium per point as it was when the grab bags came out?

its not crashing. its fluctuating dependant on current supply and demand. it will fall until a point where people no longer want to sell c-points for such a low amount.

when something new in the c-store is released that makes c-points more valuable then the cost will go back up. if the item is extremely desirable it may even go back up to 500, then will fall again at a later point.

its doing exactly what its meant to be doing.

Correct, what you should be doing is saving your Dilithium and buying C points when you think the price for C points has reached bottom, this will be roughly just before the next must have item is announced on the C Store, the price in Dilithium of C Points will rocket, so at that time you can sell your Dilithium to get the maximum number of C points. Once that item is no longer required C points will drop again, just before they begin to drop you sell your C points for Dilthium and so the cycle continues. If you never actually spend either Dilithium or C points in time you will accumulate a great deal of one or the other, this is called playing the market and adds another dimension to playing STO which I enjoy.

What are the set limits? 200 to 1000? That would be the time to buy or sell like crazy, methinks.

again its working fine. if you want to buy c-points its at its lowest in the last 2 months which is great for most players. most people buying points are getting the best deal they have had. players who want to sell c-points are getting a bad deal at the moment but they had great deals in december. its swings and roundabouts.

their choice is they either continue to sell them or they take them off the exchange until it goes back up. if people dont want to sell that low they remove their points and their value increases again as there is a lack of points.

if cryptic release something valuable on the store that will also force the prices up as there will be rush to buy points and we will return to the 450-500 range.

but the system is working fine, its just not working in your favour at this exact moment. thats how economies work. sometimes its good to buy, sometimes its good to sell. in a player driven economy thats what happens. people put their stuff up for only want they feel is acceptable. some people feel that 260 a c-points is acceptable.

it will never reach 1:1 as a) the limits is 50 and b) people wont sell past a certain point.

it will recover and it will go back up and then sellers of c-points will benefit again.

No, the system is not crashing. It is balancing itself out. Don't forget that the dilithium exchange is a new toy to play with (so there are some people out there playing on it just for this reason), there has been a massive influx of F2P players who need c-store points to get their favourite ships, or costumes, or whatever.

Given that there are thousands of points for sale on there, it is quite popular, it just hasn't had a chance to balance itself out. I figure the price per c-store point will even out somewhere around 200-225.

lowest is 50, highest is 500. right now, buy your c-points with dilithium. either use them on the store or keep hold of them until it recovers and then make up to double your dilithium.

This is pretty much my plan. I'm sitting on around 300k dilithium right now, just waiting for the point price to drop a little more. Of course, getting my dilithium back is going to be a bit tricky, since I intend to use the points in the store, not just reselling them for higher amounts.

Prices will probably also go back up when Cryptic does it's first C-Store sale for the new players. Last C-Store sale was December when only the reinvites were "silver" players. I put in quotes because returning players seem to actually be a hybrid of silver/gold with some features from gold mixed into the silver package.

When the demand for CP goes up during sales, you will see a change in prices.

I just started using the dilithium exchange. I figure 500K worth of dilithium should be used for something. I really don't see an issue with the pricing. Right now it's what avg 300/point? So you do 2 STF on normal and that gets you 3 cryptic points and change (480x2). I see that as a good deal when you calculate point vs time spent playing. And double wednesdays makes it even better.

And I actually have more need of points then dilithium at end game.

Its still down down down like a burning ring of fire today.

I am buying up CP like mad at this price.

yeah at about 250 for 1 Cstore point I can get like 500 point a month easy. Add that to the 400 I get as a lifer and I'm getting like 10 bucks a month to spend on Cstore stuff. I love the fact the Dilithium exchange hasn't bottomed out yet.

As soon as there is a new grab bag I expect prices to spike up again.

Think the exchange rate is too low for CP? Just wait until the C-store versions of the two new flagships come out! I'm betting you'll see prices near the 500 - 1 at that time. :)

The fix will be when the Odyssy +1 hits the C-Store... I expect this will encourage the demand for C-Points... (And I've been stocking up from the Dilithium Exchange in anticipation...)

Well if you see a sinking ship, what do you do? JUMP.

I glad I stocked up when it was ALOT better.

I suggest you do the exchanges NOW before they get even worse.
