Confirmed by trekmovie.com
Shooting for the 2013 Star Trek Sequel has officially begun.
On January 12th JJ Abrams once again called "Action!" for a new Star Trek movie.
The shooting is planned to last until May.
Special Effects have already been in the works for several months, again made by ILM.
This time they will be filming on more locations than they did on the last one. Mentioned are Paramount Studios, Sony Pictures Studios and Southern California.
The movie will be in cinemas on May 17th, 2013. Which gives them plenty of time for post production.
I can't wait to see how it turns out and I hope I'm not the only one excited about this.

You took the words right out of my mouth. At least you would have if I had one
I also have no doubt that we'll get a couple of spoilers via YouTube, which seems to be all the rage these days.
Also, in before the Abrams haters.
I could not help but notice that you now wear a red shirt.
My condolences on your impending death by something that initially looks harmless.
I'll send a ham to your widow.
I'll buy JJ some Cryptic Points if he doesn't make the next movie give people headaches.
Me too.

Other than that, there's not much (other than the consumption of popcorn) to look forward to on this.
bring on the lensflare!
Omg, noo!!! Puts on lens flare resistent glasses, but it's still too much!!! Captain, the lenses are giving her all she's got! Damn it scotty...face palm...I need more resistance!!!
Lies. Captain Archer will save us with help from 23rd century time travelers.
If only that was the only problem...
I would rather gouge out my eyes than watch another abomination of a Star Trek movie under him.
Apparently that *was* the plan, early on, but it's been abandoned. No authoritative word on who/what the bad guy will be next time, though an actor has been signed for a/the villain role.
Kirk said Engage? I always thought that was a Picard original.
Then again, I'm a TNG fan. I prefer my scifi to make me want to think.
Was it a good movie? Yes. Was it Star Trek? No. It's as simple as that.
and Pike in The Cage. no ship's captain in any of the series, whether regular or guest cast, ever said "punch it"
Couldnt agree more. All these whiners who didnt like the 2009 movie need there heads checked!
Or maybe they can go back to watching days of our live! Where the cccccccamera isnt sssssshaky boo hoo wowwies me.
Unsteady or shaky camera work can cause nausea and dizziness for some viewers, particularly in some large-screen formats. Perhaps you weren't aware of that.
