We wanted to let you all in on a change that will be made to the Tribble and RedShirt test servers. On Monday, January 9th, we plan to take these test shards offline. RedShirt will remain offline, but Tribble will return later in the day. The Tribble database will be wiped and the shard will return in a complete clean state. This means that all characters, Foundry productions, and other player data will be removed from the Tribble test server, and will not be recoverable. If you currently have a Foundry mission on Tribble that you need to save work from, please do so before the weekend is over, as once this server comes down, we will be unable to recover any lost data.
Tribble will also return to being a normal test server. Over the past 3 months, Tribble has been an isolated environment with its own C-Store and purchases and this was done for Season 5 testing. Going forward, it will return to being tied to the Holodeck environment, having no C-Store, and honoring purchased unlocks made on Holodeck. In other words, it will be just like it was prior to the start of Season 5 testing.
Lastly, we would truly like to thank all of our dedicated players who spent countless hours testing the latest builds and providing feedback -- we could not have done it without you.

I don't mind the thanks, but you took a lot of access to stuff away from the same people who help you test everything out..... The subscribing player base has had items & mission access removed, or moved to the C-Store. A Mission that gave away access to a C-store item was taken away from us, and you didn't even let us use the schematic we had prior to the removal (I'm taking about the Delta Flyer mission, you could have left the ability to craft it in the game, after those schematics were gone there would be no more crafted, but no, people got nothing for the 10 days of mission they did and they are stuck with a useless schematic) ...Make us buy access from the C-Store to a ship we have access to for over a year...... And just plainly upset a large portion of the loyal player-base...... You are even treating the returning players better the the player who have paid your salaries for the last year ....
Yep ... Thanks Captains ...... Next time we will thank you by taking even more stuff away.....
This step is a business mistake again, of course, only I think. A good Ferengi as Cryptic like to be, never would destroy valueable/sellable stuff.
I think you had better to make an option for the holodeck players to buy their own tribble toons as is with all items. Ask a high price as 5000 Cp with a killing deadline, like a week. What you can loose on it? An hour programming?
Please.....
P.s.: What about the compensation for the stolen 250 emblems of 500 day reward?
I'll be sad to see my Tribble Captain go, he's amassed quite a crew and collection of what-nots during his voyages. Need to think of some explosive storyline in which he and his crew meet their fate.
No objection to wiping the servers - that's all fine and good.
But what about you actually make an event of it? Can we get a B'Ger invasion on Earth and Qo'nos? Can we destroy those 'alternate universes' in a proper Trek way?
Maintenance is now complete and RedShirt is offline. The team has decided to leave Tribble in its current form, for now -- there are no longer going to be any character or UGC wipes, and the test C-Store will remain online.
Love the idea of some sort of event to mark the passing of the current iteration of Tribble. The Borg Invasion event to end Open Beta was great; my toon T'Par went out in a blaze of glory against over-powered Borg in a DSE in Sirius Sector Block. I then resurrected her after launch as a Liberated Borg with a fantastic "backstory".
However current Tribble ends (or doesn't) is fine, just wanted to put in my 2 cents.

I suppose if you think about it, it makes an element of sense to keep a population of characters that were built *for* the test server, as it lets them trouble shoot the current builds more effectively based on a completely isolated, build-specific data.
Copying characters from the main server might bring with it 'legacy' issues from Pre-F2P, depending on what those characters have done over their lifetimes.
...Of course, I'm talking out my butt here to some extent. Just speculating.

That would be cool, like what they did at the end of the oriignal STO beta

Yeah I think this was done to allow the continuation of the two primary testing modes:
The first kind of testing is "middle-end" testing: testing of new-new features such as differences you see during progression or level-locked differences; testing character progression, mission playthroughs, etc.. The second kind of testing is sort of end-user testing: as in I want to see what effect changing [foo] has on my character; this is the one where you take your holodeck build and import it into tribble so you can take advaantage of cheap respecs and other things.

Fascinating! *Raises eyebrow*
Due to the original post, I spent 15 hours on the 8th copying over my Tribble mission (see sig) which started as a test mission and ended up being pretty cool, it had to be kept and not destroyed. I also spread the word to others about the wipe and spent another 10 hour or so QA testing my own mission and making minor adjustments.
NOW thanks to you the KDF have another really good mission to play on Holodeck, I really can't believe this, how could you! lol
Kinda glad to hear the news though, I like me Tribble toons.
Personally, I think the wipe is necessary! It's a test server and it's used to track down, eliminate, and troubleshoot bugs. With the many running wild on both Tribble and Holodeck, a fresh build might be a good way to get started on fixing things like the crackling audio, PvP crashing, 3 second PvP scoreboards, toilet flushing sounds, DX11 texture dispaying issue (there are many of these), just to name a few.

But that still doesn't answer the question, did Redshirt truly die in a fashion worthy of its name?

Goodbye Ch'uq and Char'huq.
You will be missed but not forgotten.
^^ This. But then again, starting with a fresh slate isn't bad either, it'll bring some of the more obvious bugs (D'Vak!) to the forefront.

2 thumbs down!
Ghoulish minds wish to laugh.
The Flick of a Switch and a Loss of Electrons... quietly fading away to nothingness.
I say lava monster before the first ad-break.

U.S.S White Dove will be decomission at ESD 1
UPDATE: Done, met with Admiral Quinn to say Goodbye..

if the C-Store remains as is on Tribble, how about you give us 9999999999 test C-Points, so we can TEST new C-Store items?
The C-Store is still missing a "try before buy" function.
NVM i found out myself that you can Delete the Beta file map
