was wondering if anyone else who has the Honor Guard MK XI is having the same difficulty as I am. I have had this set for about 3 days now and have died and rezed by more pugs than i can ccount. If this is supposed to be the almost best of best than.....Oh my this is junk. Was wondering if this protects you at all. It is almost embarrassing to wear the gear and get 1 shot all of the time. This is the biggest piece of TRIBBLE in the whole game. The devs should be ashamed of themselves. There is no way that i should be one shot wearing this gear. Hell i should one shot the borg in this stuff, But no I am embarrassing myself trying to walk noobs through the stf's and then ending up being rezed by them. Is there anyone else noticing that there is something not right about this gear?

Gear is fine, your plastyle however is obviously not.
I have done runs in both Cure and Kithomer Accord ground on Elite, without dying once and acheiving the optional objective as well, both times using KHG armor.
Though I usually get up close and melee Tactical drones, which is what the set really is meant for.

I have the set, but im not using it, it is TRIBBLE. A pulse wave gun that can shoot a granate every 30 sec's.
My 'normal' pulse wave can blast every 10 sec's and have almost the same damage as a granate.
Shield, my normal have more hitponts, [reg] and also [pla], and the armor...
I so love my maco set and was hoping my kdf ground set would be something like it, but no.

As far as I know that's an energy blast and therefor doesn't go through shields. The grenade does.
I just love one-shoting various drones with that thing and my Fire Team kit.

Yeah, I note the KHG ground set is better designed for tactical players, not so much for ENG or SCI.

I hear you brother, had it happen to me a few times. Though the rifle is really cool with the grenade launcher, the armour and shields, well how can I put it - it's really embarassing. Klingon Honour Guard and I'm the first to fall ... in the first game after I suited up I got "one-shot-killed" four times. I kept having to dive behind every pebble for cover! And on that note - where the hell is my helmet?
Like I said, the Honor Guard is clearly tailored for close quarters combat.
Its not meant for you to stand on the other side of the room and get shot at by Tactical Drones.
On the note of the helmet, its exclusive to the Mk XII set costume.
No armour or shields in the game with stats eve vaguely comparable with other items exisiting are going to stop and unbuffed player who doesn't insta heal/buff from being killed very quickly on elite by an elite tac or similar.
I use the stuff on my ENG and unless I am being shot in the back then I have time to shield rep/hypo/deploy cover shield using this set.
Whatever you are doing it evidently does not include keeping your face to the enemy and taking a defensive action.
- It uses two different damage types meaning (usually) 8 shots before resequencing
- It deals a substantial amount of damage directly through the shield and is targetted AoE (best kind IMO)
- It is a 'shotgun' if you all stand in a tunnel and fire at channelled mobs it is excellent
- It is much more efeftive at close ranges
This IMO makes it an excellent weapon for fighting the Borg. Also the integral remodultor and hypo are so useful it hurts.
I like the Honor Guard Ground Set and I use if on my KDF science Toon.
It has one of the best bonuses that you'll find on any of the ground sets and that's the Adrenaline booster.
The Adrenaline booster is like a meduim Hypo that gives you 320 HP with root and hold resistance that you can use every 30 seconds.
Another good thing about the Adrenaline booster is that it has a seperate cool down from all other hypos and that's a huge plus in ground combat not to mention the fact that you never run out of the Adrenaline booster.
The integrated remodulator needs to have its cool down removed, the 15 seconds cool down makes it junk IMO.
Remember when you're fighting Borg you should always be looking for cover to break line of sight so you can heal and remodulate.
The only way to defend against a 1 shot is to not get hit
i use the Honour Guard set on my Sci capt, and love it to death. Although i usually like to charge in and heal myself while beating the tar outta the borg in hand to hand combat. but for that purpose it works well.

So is 2/3s of the of the suit.
The set-buffs to melee combat aaaalmost make it a non-trivial means of attack after Season 4. Almost, but not quite.
I find it very useful, but it does require you to change your play-style slightly. I can make it through KA and Cure elite without dying, no problem. Infected Elite I can make it through, without dying, if I'm not trying for optional... most times. Depends on how much I'm hugging cover.
With the integrated remodulator this gives you an extra slot to take an item to battle. Take a shield charge and a hypo, and have your adrenal boost right next to it. Get a heavy shot that drains your shields and some health? Shield charge and adrenal booster. Takes me back up to 100% almost every time. The HG set is worth it for this alone, IMO. My survivability has gone up significantly.
I certainly like the Mk XI KHG Ground set on my SCI..
normal borg drone I step in to range... root 'em.. do my endo thermic thing, and drop a grenade on em then switch weps to my antiproton sniper rifle and pick off what ever is still standing.. switch back to the pusle wave as they get close and pop another grenade and proceed to do my "Clickity Boom, Clickity boom"
thing. An energy shot gun with a baynet, and a grenade launcher.. I LOVE MY GUN!
Caan't help but think the OP is just not useing his gear right. And I tend to LEAD the parties in.. I tell the TAC's to lay down cover fire and let me do my SCI magic.. When I can get folks to cooperate we blaze rigtht on through. I think the OP need to maybe get a little less agressive. Hopefully the new ground skills tree should help him a little.
I noticed when I run the Elite ground STF's a lot of folks stand out in the open and get mowed down by the tac drones. It don't matter what you're wearing if you stand in the open and there's more than one tac drone firing at you or if one happens to flank you then youre more than likely going to die. The tactics you use for the ground STF's is what you'd use in real life, take cover, take cover, take cover.
A tactic I use with my Klingon tac officer is to buff up, unload a barrage of destruction, then take cover behind something. I then pop out and quickly take cover again to draw the tac drones into firing their weapons (If they havent already started firing at my team mates) then pop back out to unleash hell with my 2nd weapon. The basic drones are usually dead and the tac and infected drones severly injured allowing the team to take them out. I use the same tactics for the heavies and elite drones, it just takes a bit longer to whittle their shields/health down. Fall back as they advance, so they don't overrun you, hopping from cover to cover. You don't want them to pile up on you because once they mob you in close quarters they can assimilate you or your team mates which is just as effective as killing you/them.
Get the team to target the tac drones 1st. If the team combines fire on them they go down quicker limitting the threat they pose.
I use the same tactics with my Engineer using wep malfunction to pull the tac drones teeth so my team mates can safely unload on them while I also provide cover and help out by laying mines in their path.
The grinding to get these items seems like a trend in STO begging you to spend so much time to get useless broken junk as collectors items.
Yes by the time you get the sets you are done with the STFs and learned how to play them without.
Then the sets we get are absolute garbage compared to older stuff, especially the space sets. They are changing stats at the moment but throwing such crappy stuff compared to the Borg set procs at us was WTF to begin with.
I am still sitting on my EDC and will spend them once they made one of the sets worth them.

Yeah same here I'm just doing what we used to do before season 5 just doing stf's every day piling up emblems/dilithium and now edc's hoping for they day when they will be used to get something useful.

That's OK, but Cryptic should acknowledge it.

If you have nearly full health and shields you only need to "crouch" to survive the attack, even on Elite.
So is 2/3s of the of the suit.
