My Philips 2.0 speakers are finally dying on me, and time for new ones. I have an X-Fi in my system, but don't really care to go all out for 5.1 surround.
Anyone have any recommendations for a decent 2.1 system to get? Something that would work well with gaming, music, and movies.
I started using the Logitech S220 speakers since my last speakers started making unhealthy popping noises. I like them fine. The subwoofer is quite small and gives me more foot room under my desk. They are very slightly more tinny sounding than my last ones, but they have served me very well the last year. I only hear sound that's supposed to be there -- the lights in my room could be flickering and these guys are still nice and quiet.
They are classified as "laptop speakers", though they do just fine for my desktop system. I just gently had to separate the wire a bit further to get them on both sides of my monitor, no problem. For the green people among us (environmentalists, not orions) it is pleasing to know that they only take 3W.
Any will do for 2.1 honestly. I'm using a set I bought back in 1999 and they still sound great. When I am playing, though, I use my Logitech G930 headset. It has built in 5.1 surround and is wireless.
