Okay...I have a real problem with the new minimap and the inability to zoom out.
On ground missions, I always zoomed way out so I could get a wide view of paths and corridors and more easily navigate the maps. Now I cannot zoom out hardly at all, which is just frustrating.
Someone must have thought people preferred the map to be zoomed in, as if there was actually useful information to be seen instead of just the basic rooms/corridors. It's frustrating to get unexpected changes like this. When I'm unable to zoom out as far, it takes longer to figure out where I have to go next. I've had several others in my fleet express their dislike of this change too.
I'm also wondering how it will affect pvp, since I always had the minimap zoomed out all the way for the ground battles.
I really don't like that either, I first noticed when I beamed into DS9 and couldn't see past all the new map clutter, I tried to zoom out and it stuck... assumed it was a bug... if it's not, it needs to be removed, that's a terrible idea... especially now that some of the maps are so enormous...
yep no zoom out is annoying and also other people dont show up in sector space or social zones, which i miss. its sometimes helpful yo know where people are sometimes.
it's also really annoying when I can't zoom out and I'm being shot by an enemy from I don't know where... this needs to be rectified... I almost never complain about STO, I love the game, but what reason in the world do they have for such a stupid limitation... I get lost everywhere now, I barely keep my bearings after a firefight and now I can't see the map to see what direction I'm going... this is so stupidly ridiculous in space and on ground. if it doesn't change, I may actually stop playing until intelligent people are back in charge of cryptic... it sucks under Steven the liar and his band of "we don't care about feedback or fixing bugs" drones.
I think it is bugged. Sometimes it works as it should, but mostly zoomed all the way out, I can't even see around the room/cave/20 meter area that I'm in. So much for "improved" minimaps.
yea, it's really messed up, not being able to see the map where the entrances and exits are... wasting about 3 minutes on some maps trying to find a way out...
I wish Cryptic would comment on this issue... weather it is on purpose or a bug, it needs to go back... I have found myself just running around with the map open... like playing Venture on the Atari 2600... except with worse graphics and physics!
I too would like to see some sort of acknowledgement for this. It seems such a silly thing to change and serves no purpose other then to make the minimap useless.
It's not just the minimap - the sector map is woefully broken on Holodeck - it's not going to impress anybody in it's current incarnation.
The minimap is zoomed in too far and the sector map is zoomed out too far by default. 50% further out on the minimap and 75% further in on the sector map is about where it needs to be imo.
