Following the rules in the DiD game challenge
http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=241386 I will attempt to run this character through it's paces and see how far I can go without getting killed. And hopefully write a good story about it.
And now on with the show.
DiD Game - Ensign to Vice Admiral
Log 1 - Command of my own ship???

Ensign's Log. Stardate 89488.05 (11/18/2011 22:23:20)
After the Borg attack on Vega Colony and the Senior staff killed on the U.S.S. Macross. I have assumed command of this vessel.
It's kind of hard to forget that I served on this vessel for only a few months, right out of Starfleet Academy, and now I have been given active command of a crew of a 200.
Still she's a fine ship, and survived the attack on the Vega Colony. We've been reassigned by Admiral Quinn from the Earth Starbase. Hopefully I can make it past the next few months without sucumbing to Post Tramatic Stress Syndrome. Sickbay checked me out after I received the new orders and have given me a hypo to release some of the stress.
On a high note, Commander Davis of the U.S.S. Khitimer provided the ship with a new crew member. Ensign Tala. She assisted with the Borg attack on the planet and was able to distract the Borg as we beamed out. Her tactical skills have saved my engineering hide while I was disabling the Borg device.
My next log will be that of a Lieutenant. Admiral Quinn gave me a field promotion imediately after returning from the Vega Colony. I hope that his trust is not misplaced.
Lieutenant Valient, out.

Log 1 - Supplemental. New Officer.
__________
Lieutenant's log - Supplemental (Stardate 89488.19)
As I knew I needed to fill in my bridge crew. I contacted Commander Balt, under recommendations from Admiral Quinn, to see how I could do that. He did inform me of where I could go to process my requisition for a new Starfleet Officer.
I spoke with a Bajoran named Elsa Mora and she was able to process my request quickly without any fuss and in due time I had a new Science Officer. Ensign Tynza Esryb, another Andorian Zhen, Shen. She had the skills I needed to increase our shields by rerouting power from the Deflector to the shields.
I sincerly hope she doesn't destroy main engineering with the bypass she created from our Aux systems to the shields. I just got her put back together.

En-route to the Kei system, we received a distress call from the S.S. Azura. We're trying to pinpoint her exact location so we can assist in what we can.
Once we arrived in the Kei system to scan the area for the S.S. Azura, we received a second distress call from the miners of Kei III. Apparently the Orian's have been disrupting their operations by imposing "fees" for mining the asteroids.
We took care of the small group when a Centaur Class vessel approached, along with more Orion Cruisers. Without communicating with the Centaur Class vessel, both ships proceeded to remove the reinforcements, many cruisers arrived and a Brigade command vessel.
Teaming up, we were able to destroy all the ships surrounding the mining complex with minimal damage to the shields. Seems our new Science officer did more good then harm with her rearrangement of our EPS power grid.
We're setting course for the Beytan system, hoping to find the S.S. Azura that Lt. Malcom Steel asked us to look for.

Lieutenant's log - Stardate 89488.26
We arrive at Beytan V, where we found a dispute between the miners. Diplomacy was taught a the Academy but I was never fond of it. I'm an engineer not a diplomat! Still as part of our tour, we have to do some diplomatic functions.
Come to find out that most of the miners worries were very understanding. They need new tools, and some systems repaired. They are also worried that they wont be able to work because Holograms can be made to do the same work without becoming tired. Their hours are not that great, long shifts and less time to spend with their families makes mining in Beytan V more difficult.
Still I've discussed this all with Chief Vanderberg and he feels that we now know what the situation is on the planet.
I've submitted my report to Starfleet and have been told that the resources and people will arrive at Beytan V to help alleviate their problems.
Our new course is the Brea System.

__________
Lieutenant's log - Stardate 89488.31
The Brea System did not contain the S.S. Azura as we had hoped, however we were able to find an opportunity to attack the Orion Syndicate and deal them a crippling blow. Tala, my Tactical officer, relayed a message from Starfleet that attacking the space docks in this system will force the Orions to another location closer to their home planet, leaving the merchants that run through the Vulcan sector alone for the time being.
As Admiral Quinn told me when I took the command assignment for the U.S.S. Macross, "We are at war" and just like every war we have been in, these attacks are good for morale as well crippling the enemy's ability to advance. One less ship, one less space dock, one less occupied territory. Brea's secure after removing the space docks and accompanying support vessels. I can even mark a battle cruiser on my service record. Tala enjoyed putting a photon torpedo right down the bridge of that battle cruiser.
One more system to check before we head back to space dock at Earth for refitting. We're on course for Pico.
Lieutenant Valient, out.
__________
Lieutenant's log - Stardate 89488.34
We thought we had found the S.S. Azura in the Pico system. We were wrong.
Apparently one of the mining stations freighters lost it's way and couldn't get back to its home base. We managed to find it around a huge asteroid that was blocking the communications between the mining station and it's freighter.
Once we contacted the captain of the freighter, he said that his ships engines and sensors were not working properly and requested that we escort him back. We didn't have any issues with that and we were glad that the station wasn't that far. Still I had hoped we found the S.S. Azura for sure.
Commander Winters has requested that the U.S.S. Macross return to Earth Spacedock for repairs and refitting. He even was able to get a candidate for me to choose from recruitment. I just hope it's not another Andorian.

We were able to locate the S.S. Azura as we were headed back to the Sol System. We located where her signal was coming from and found she had just escaped from an Orian slaver trap, when four light cruisers warped in and proceeded to attack the nearly destroyed Azura. Her warp core has been breached and we've had two cruisers between us and them to start beaming the crew out.
The Orian cruisers weapons were no match for our shields as we pelted away at theirs and fired torpedoes through the gaps we made. In minutes we cleaned up the two in front of us and proceeded to remove the rest of the Orion trash away from the Azura.
Ensign Tynza detected elevated radiation levels on board and requested that we beam over to assist.
Once we did, Tynza explained that we didn't have enough time to get to the engineering section of the ship, but that the Orions were in our path to get there. Fighting our way though the Orions was time consuming, but Captain Brott was able to keep the containment shield over the warp core long enough for her crew to escape. We were not able to save all the crew and plasma leaks flooded compartments and poisoned the crew. Its sad to say that we were not able to save the ones who couldn't get out of the plasma leaks. As we made our escape back to the transporter room, the only place available for us to beam in and out of the ship as it burned away, the Orions came back with reinforcements, including another Battle cruiser. Tala was aching to get back to Tactical. Once I made it back to the bridge we battled it out with the Orions, defeating them even with their threats to enslave us, destroying both cruisers and battle ship. Speeding past the Azura, we snagged Captain Brott before the ship exploded.
Captain Brott is going to take some leave from her current passion before restarting her shipping trade between K-7 and Sol Starbase. We have to make our own pit stop at Sol ourselves and pick up our new recruit.

or a less nasty version.. just permadeath instances, like a Fleet Action but if you die in it you can either stay to spectate the rest.. or exit back to sector space and continue your stuff..
I am now subscribing so that I can see how this goes.
Not sure if I'll try something like this myself, but I can at least watch others try it and see how it works out.
We picked up our new recruit. Ensign Fernando Mitch Opstein. A human, like myself. With him on board we've filled out our bridge officers and Main Engineering assignments so we can now complete other assignments Admiral Quinn or Commander Williams has given us.
When Ensign Fernando came on board, he looked over Main Engineering and took the EPS conduits from the Emergency power and reroute those systems into our weapons power. At least this time I can trust that the conduit paths will not overload. He also assisted Ensign Tynza with her modification to the shield system, boosting the power we get from the Aux systems to the shield systems. I'm feeling a little more comfortable now with the changes to the Macross.
Admiral Quinn gave us orders to start exploring the Delta Volanis Cluster. A few months there would help calm the crew down without thinking the ship will be attacked again by Orions.

Lieutenant's Log - Stardate - 89490.94
We were able to complete our tour in the Delta Volanis Cluster, Lieutenant Grall has been confirming the new systems we have been charting and discovering. Several systems seem to also be in war, not only with each other but with the Nausicans. We have been able to complete these skirmishes without too much fuss and no major damage to the ship. Fernando is really keeping an eye out for Macross. There are times that I wish I could have stayed an Engineer instead of being the acting Captain.
We received new orders from Admiral Quinn, Head to Vulcan to pick up Ambassador Sokketh. We'll receive more details when we arrive.
Commander Winters has also asked us to keep an eye out for Klingons entering the Sirus System Block. And if we encounter them, to attack on site. I'm not liking this war at all.

Lieutenant's Personal Log - Stardate - 89492.49
We're on route to P'Jem after picking up Ambassador Sokketh. I've got a bad feeling about this.
It seems that the High Priest Savin doesn't want to send Sokketh to P'Jem, and after hearing about why the Vulcans have restricted access to it by normal means I can understand his concern. Still orders are orders and I was able get permission to allow Sokketh to be escorted to P'Jem while protecting it's peace and prosperity.
I just get a funny feeling things are not always as they seem. For a Vulcan, Sokketh feels different some how. Not as logical especially when dealing with a frustrating matter as going to a different planet. I've met plenty of Vulcans from my Academy days and they were always very calm and collected about their thoughts and issues. Sokketh just doesn't feel that way to me.
I hope to find out what all this is about when we get to P'Jem.

Lieutenant's log - Supplemental
The Undine? What are they doing here in the Alpha Quadrant?
Maybe I should start at the beginning.
When we arrived at P'Jem, six Klingon cruisers decloaked and demanded that we hand over the Ambassador, stating that he was an Undine, or Species 8472. As we asked for proof, his patience was wearing thin and decided to attack us. We destroyed the six cruisers without any damage to the ship, but found out that P'Jem was under attack itself by KDF ground forces. Tala suggested we beam down and assist, as we were told by High Priest Savin to protect P'Jem from any and all threats.
We beamed down and found several 5 man squads patrolling the path to the temple. As we made our way up, we took them out and cleaned up all the Klingons on P'Jem, or so we thought. Tala received a message from Sokketh's Aide T'Pela. She had found the Ambassador's body, dead, underneath his home on Vulcan. The Klingon Commander was right! When Tala had Security go to his quarters, he was gone and the transporter logs were erased of where he was beaming to. I had Tala and her security escort, Tynza and Fernando spread out to protect the Abbot from any further harm when the imposter Sokketh beamed at the bottom of the steps.
The next thing I remember, he changed shape and started attacking us. He was an Undine. Apparently, he didn't like the fact that I was going to contact Starfleet to assist and came after me directly. I had to hold him back with my Phaser rifle while the others were attacking him. Once he was wounded he stepped back and shifted to the Klingon Commander we just spoke to. Stating we were weak and that he would get the Klingons to kill us for him.
We fought off several Klingon squads and managed to catch up to the Undine, but he beamed off the planet surface before we could get another shot off at him. Tynza was able to get a trace of his signature and we beamed back aboard the Macross.
I had Tala hail Starfleet of our situation and relayed to Fernando to reroute power to the shields before this Dreadnought started firing upon us. Plasma torpedos from the ship struck our shields and penetrated, along with whatever beam weapons it was using. Tynza identified them also as plasma based.
We were able to hold off long enough for reinforcements to arrive and get the Undine to target one of them. It started working as our structural integrety lowered to 65%. The U.S.S. Kirk dealt the final blow. While its warpcore was breaching, Tala was able to scan the ship for anything in its computer database. That information will be submitted to Starfleet Intelligence once we've docked at Starbase.
Damage report from all decks show that we took some heavy hits on decks 3 and 7. Torpedo tube 2 is jammed from a plasma blast that made it past our shields. Port Nacelle is also damaged, but Fernando was able to erect a temporary shield to keep our Cochrane field stable till we get repairs completed. Main Engineering had a little bit of a plasma leak from one of the plasma torpedoes, but we were able to contain it.
I have a debriefing with Starfleet Intelligence in the morning about the Undine and what it was doing. I hope that it'll be a short one.

Lieutenant Valient completed a requested mission from Admiral Quinn to escort one Ambassador Sokketh of Vulcan to the planet P'Jem. During his escort duties, he and the crew of the U.S.S. Macross (see Article 1) encountered six Klingon Bird of prey Class warships. The Klingon commander on site used agressive negotiations for the surrender of Ambassador Sokketh which were questioned by Lieutenant Valient to provide some proof that he was an Undine infiltrator. Since no proof was given, the Klingon commander ordered all warships to attack the U.S.S. Macross
U.S.S. Macross and Crew repelled the attack and destroyed the Klingon ships. They then proceeded to scan the planet's surface and found Klingon landing parties searching the planet for any other Undine. When Lieutenant Valient beamed down to the planet's surface, along with four other crew members of his team; disobeying Starfleet officer protocol 38745-2B, they proceeded to head towards the Temple of the Abbot.
As they followed the path to the Temple, they found squads of Klingons harassing Vulcan monks. They followed standard procedures and defended the unarmed victims. Once they reached the temple, Lieutenant Valient created a parimeter around the entrance of the temple before the Ambassador Sokketh imposter beamed down to the planets surface, attacking them in his true form. Once the attack was made, it broke off and changed shape to the Klingon commander, ordering the rest of the Klingon squads to attack the Federation crew on site. Once the Klingons were dispatched, Valient's crew identified the transporter signal and found an Undine Bioship in orbit.
Once back on board the U.S.S. Macross, a signal was sent to Starfleet for assistance in defeating the Undine bioship. Reinforcements were sent and the bioship was destroyed. U.S.S. Macross was able to scan as much data on the ship as possible before forwarding to Starfleet Intelligence.
The following was recorded about Ambassador Sokketh.
[SFI Agent 1]: "What do you remember about Ambassador Sokketh when you arrived at Vulcan?"
[LT Valient]: "Very little. When I arrived I spoke with him directly and his tone and logical calm was missing."
[SFI Agent 2]: "Missing? In what way?"
[LT Valient]: "Most Vulcans I've worked with tend to speak in a calm, intelligent manner. Sokketh, at the time, didn't have that calm speech. He sounded, frustrated and angry."
[SFI Agent 1]: "So you admit that he didn't sound himself?"
[LT Valient]: "Yes."
[SFI Agent 1]: "What did you ask of him when you noticed that?"
[LT Valient]: "I asked if he was frustrated at the High Priest, or the situation. And he responded that he must have been off Vulcan for too long and was falling away from the logical path. I didn't know how to respond to that and just accepted it."
... End audio log
Lieutenant Valient kept noticing the smaller nuiances that Ambassador Sokketh was displaying, even in his personal log he felt that Ambassador Sokketh was not being forthcoming with his information.
Starfleet Intelligence will keep an eye on Lieutenant Valient. He seems to have a knack for getting out of situations he shouldn't be in.
Starfleet Intelligence - End Log.
__________
(No Status change in ship or crew)
After my debrief with Starfleet Intelligence, I received a request from Admiral Quinn. Our orders once the Macross was out of dry dock is to go to the Paulson Nebula in the Lackey system. For some reason the Undine had interest in the nebula and Intelligence needs someone to go in. As we were the ones to oust the Undine from the Vulcan Ambassador, we were the ones selected.
Tala requested that we outfit the ship with new phaser arrays to compensate for the damage we took, unfortunately we did not get any requisition merits from the last few missions to proceed with that upgrade, so we will have to do without it this time.
Fernando was able to scrounge up some hull plating that would be added onto the current hull infrastructure for more protection, which he picked up a little too much so we'll have to salvage what we can when we see the next Ferrangi trader coming our way. He was also able to retrieve a Resilient shield array from one of the destroyed Klingon birds of prey in our last skirmish and replaced our current shield array system while repairs were being completed.
Tynza was able to requisition from a nearby ship a graviton generator. It's the thought that counts that she was able to find this but we currently do not have a use for it. We'll keep it online to boost the current tractor beam arrays.
Commander Winters was very kind, coming on board the Macross to talk in private about my current command. Handing over a bottle of Tranya as a good luck charm. "Since we've made it this far." He said, "And for quick thinking with the Undine incident." I was willing to open it up with him, but he was required to be on duty in a few hours.
We have a few more days of repairs ahead of us before Macross would take missions again, with this Paulson Nebula mission taking priority above the Klingon invasions. Tynza took requested leave off to go back to Andoria to visit her family, while Fernando was finishing installing the shield array. Tala insisted that she stay on board to oversee security, and update the duty officers. I believe she had different motive for staying aside from work. We did spend one night together, finishing up the duty roster, when she noticed the bottle of Tranya. As it was late and we didn't have dinner, she decided to make a traditional Andorian dinner with a few Terran dishes that she knew personally. The dinner was excellent, and we did take a few too many sips of the Tranya, but the evening was enjoyable with my first officer.
But I'm getting a little off track. Next week we will be picking up Tynza from Andoria and head to the Lackey system. With the Holographic work crews working day and night to repair the majority of the damage, the Macross will be fully operational by Stardate 89518.00.
Lieutenant Valient, out.

Lieutenant's log, Stardate 89518.35 (11/29/2011 23:42:09)
After picking up Tynza from Andoria, we arrived in the Lackey system to find the U.S.S. Valor under attack by Gorn frigates. Tala managed to lock onto all three frigates and strike each one once to let them know that the Valor was not alone. While she was heavily damaged, her shields stayed active long enough for us to dispatch the three frigates. Captain Stefan Marz contacted us stating that the Gorn were using the Paulson Nebula as a mining operation after hijacking it from Federation miners while they were mapping out the Paulson Nebula. Unfortunately they couldn't move without being offered some new Dilithium crystals to get their warp core back online. We managed to find a few of the Gorn mining sites and stole some of their ill gotten crystals , while fending off a cruiser that was stationed close by. They must have send a signal to their major mining operation in Lackey III, which Tynza confirmed, as another cruiser began attacking the Valor as we were making it back to them. That ship was destroyed very quickly thanks to Tala's quick shooting. Captain Marz mentioned that we would need Decalithium crystals to even attempt to go into the Paulson Nebula because of the dust clouds deeper in the nebula. We thanked him and he limped off to Starbase 157 once they made repairs.
We headed to Lackey III where we found the mining station, but it was guarded by a small cruiser and two frigates. After a quick dispatch we tried to take some of the Decalithium crystals, but our transporter locks were being scrambled. Tynza found the station jamming our signal with a larger cruiser sitting in waiting. She warned the jamming station to evacuate before we blow them up with spatial charges. The cruiser saw us and began to attack, which we dispatched like the last two and beamed the charges into the station, removing it from the rock it was attached to. Fernado then beamed the crystals to main engineering and outfitted the warp core with them, giving us 4.5% more output to survive the nebula. Which became our next stop.
When we arrived. Tynza found 5 large objects which we needed to scan. And the only one with anything on it was a very large asteroid with a Klingon base inside. Unfortunately a Raptor class bird of prey along with several dozen mines covered the area. We had to remove most of the mines and the Raptor to beam into the station.
Once there, we fought our way to the main computer core room, getting details of what was happening. The Klingons were using the Lackey system as a listening post in Federation space! We were able to download the computer core with a few more squads arriving to try and stop us. Once we finished downloading the information, Tala got a response from the Macross, stating that more Klingon warbirds were on their way. We took the chance we had and left before they arrived.
We're on our way now to Memory Alpha. Admiral Quinn had me talk with Lieutenant Egg about these anomalies we've been detecting. Apparently R&D needs these anomalies to develop better tools and systems.
Once we arrive, I'll be forwarding our information we gathered from the nebula over to Starfleet Intelligence. I'm sure Admiral Quinn will have another task for us to complete.

As explained by Lieutenant Commander Egg, which he explained was something to do with Egghead scientists, we were told to go to Memory Alpha in the Alpha Centauri sector block. As this was a milk run mission to drop of some biological data to Commander Romaine, we should be back in touch with Admiral Quinn very soon.

Commander Romaine was very nice in the discussion of the biological data that Lieutenant Commander Egg sent me to drop off. When she discussed how Research and Development was started and what I can do to help, I politely declined. I'm not one to study the data and create new parts for use. Speak of the devil and they appear. Admiral Quinn has contacted me about the the Klingon listening post that we discovered. Seems like that Starfleet doesn't like the fact that they're being eavesdropped on and asked the Macross to investigate. We're heading towards the Bomari System to track down this signal repeater and destroy it.
Tala and Fernando are ready to go, Tynza is still working with Commander Romaine about some of our samples we found all ready. We'll leave Memory Alpha when she's finished.

Lieutenant's log, Stardate 89531.80
We arrived at Bomari and found a repeater for the signals coming from it. However it is being guarded by several Klingon Birds of prey. Before we proceeded, Ensign Tala suggested that we use the asteroids magnetic fields to hide from the Klingon patrols. As I wanted to get in and out of there as quickly as possible, I belayed that order and told the Conn to increase speed to full impulse. One group of ships found us and attacked us directly. Fearing they might alert the other patrols, we attacked with a vengeance and destroyed all three ships in a short amount of time. Tala then scanned the repeater and found the listening post between the binary moons of Bomari II. We will warp there and complete our mission.
Lieutenant Valient, out.
__________
Lieutenant's log, Supplemental.
The Undine have done it again. Instead of a Federation Ambassador, they've infiltrated the Klingon listening outpost we were sent to destroy. When we arrived at Bomari II there were several transport inhibitors to stop us from beaming into the facility. This time I took a cautious approach and informed Tala we were only striking out at the inhibitors. The Klingons patrolling the area did not attack us first, and I want to stop the bloodshed if I can. So we snuck towards each inhibitor and firing two torpedoes at them, along with Tala's modifications to increase the explosions of the warheads. Each one detonated in a nice explosion. Once the inhibitors were down we beamed down to the facility.
We saw places we could begin setting spacial charges at, and I began to do so, when Fernando began heading to the next area and take care of another spacial charge. I swear, I am going to send him to tactical classes with Tala after this is all over. The damned idiot ran into a room full of Klingons and what did they do? Started attacking him and seeing if there was more! Luckily Tala and Tynza were able to assist and stun the rest of the Klingons before they alerted the whole facility.
We secured the rest of the spacial charges, only killing 7 more Klingons in the process. Tala then informed me that we should go ahead and up-link the computer cores to the Macross like the last facility before destroying them. A good thought and removed the rest of the Klingons in the center of the room. I think the Klingons on the left side of the room were very intently watching their screens, or had their ears covered to not hear the battle that was going on. Tynza began to link up the cores when an ambush of Klingons came and tried to stop us. As we defeated the Commander, he changed shape into the Undine and beamed off the facility onto their ship.
The Macross plotted it's warp path into an asteroid field. Apparently the Klingons were more interested in the Undine then us, as they only left a Raptor Escort ship to defend the facility. We beamed back on board and destroyed the escort before following the rest of the Klingons to the battle site where we all focused our firepower into getting rid of the Undine dreadnaught.
We took some minor plasma damage across the hull, nothing a few days to buff out if the hull plates are too damaged, but we made it out in one piece.
Klingon Commander R'az from his battleship hailed us, stating that because we helped them in destroying the Undine, he'd let us go, but we were to watch out next time, just not as politely as I put it.
Tala had a snarl on her face at that fact, but plotted a course out of the Bomari system. We will relay our finding with Starfleet Intelligence right away, along with the data we gathered.
Tala also found an upgrade to our phaser relays during our skirmish. I'm letting her work on the phasers with Fernando to increase their current output.

(AN: Had to respec with the Season 5 Changes, so here is the new change, including Dilithium and skills.)
Admiral Quinn requsted that we check out the Kassae system in the Regulus Sector block. They seem to have lost communications with the science station there and need a ship to check it out. Natually as the Macross was close by Quinn asked us to proceed.
When we got there, we found the Gorn attacking the station. We destroyed their ships in space around the station and beamed down to it. Once on the station, we realized that the damage was heavy and there were fires all over the station. Most of the research scientists had escaped but there were a few more who were trapped by the fires. The suppression system was destroyed in the initial attack run by the Gorn so we had to make due with the manual suppression tanks.
Once we beamed the surviors onto the Macross, they stated that they also had some people at the dig site at Kassae IV. We warped there and Tala tried to communicate with the site, however there were a few Gorn ships powering their weapons. We cleared the two ships out and beamed down to the site itself.
Tynza saw that the main building had a shield around the site and we couldn't scan inside. We found the three generators and took them out with minimal effort. As we reached the center building, a few Gorn were in the way. We attacked them and cleared them out so we could get to the Captain inside.
I've never seen a Gorn so huge before. This beast was over 12 feet high and three times wide as I am. And he came charging at me! Still if it wasn't for Fernando, Tala and Tynza I probably would be in sickbay for longer than I am now. I just managed to dodge one boulder thrown at me, when a second one caught my leg, almost crushing it. Still the Gorn disappared and we beamed up after him.
The Macross was ready and we set course to intercept him, disabling his engines and beaming the scientists on board. We contacted Starfleet to let them know what was happening, and Admiral Quinn himself to send a few ships to protect the scientists as the Gorn are starting to spread out and try to reclaim their old systems.
For now, we're ok. And we also picked up a new crew member from the site as well. Ensign Tordurag, I can't pronouce his name, so we call him Tor. He's a Pakled and found a way to stabalize our ships shields when we need it. A simple process that doesn't require extra resources aside from the science crews rerouting the shields through the warp core to boost them up.
The S.S. Azura II met up with us and we were able to sell off some unwanted items, getting some energy credits we desperately needed. Maybe Tala will stop badgering me about upgrading the weapons systems on board, since Ambassador Quinn felt we needed an upgrade after the last mission and sent us a better Phaser array. I'll sit with her on the next upgrade process when we get to station K-7.
We're headed to Regulus IV to meet with Lieutenant Miral Paris to assist with the Klingon Peace talks. Maybe this will be a simple escort mission and nothing will happen.

Lieutenant's log, Supplemental.
As always, every single escort mission is a complete mis-representitive of how easy it seems. Murphy must me laughing at me.
When we arrived at Regulas IV, the Orions had blocked off all communications to the planet. Removing the ships were easy, however when we beamed down, Lt. Paris was there to meet us. She explained why she was reassigned from the U.S.S. Kirk because of her interesting genetics and how she saved some pilgrams in the Delta Quadrent. After doing some studies on it, I can see why some Klingons would think she is their savior.
Still we found out that a Klingon named B'Vat was behind the attack and was setting up to destroy the peace talks using spacial charges. Seeing as Klingon spacial charges are easy to defuse, we went ahead and removed the squads surrounding the charges, helping collonists that were in need of help. Tor was able to save all of them that were injured, while Fernando assisted me with the charges. Once we took care of them Lt. Paris suggested that we head inside, because B'Vat said he was waiting for a worthy opponent. Apparently that seemed to me myself.
After freeing the Diplomats from the terrorists, the Macross sent data to Tala, who found that there were more warbirds arriving. We beamed back up to the ship and I had Fernando put all power to the weapons, destroying both three ship flights.
Ambassador Kas of the Klingon High Council congradulated me on performing well, but not as well as one of them. Yet he knew what was going on with B'Vat and suggested that we work together. Once B'Vat arrived, we started to wear down his shields, and saw that we were about to destroy him when he warped out of the system. Damn Klingon *******! I swear when I get a chance I'll get rid of him. For now we're heading back to Earth Spacedock and Starfleet Academy to pick up recruits. We'll see how they handle day to day ship operations.
I promised Tala I'd visit for a duty roster update and assignments. I believe it's also going to be Bolian food this time.

Admiral Quinn has requested that U.S.S. Macross return to Earth Spacedock for the next assignment. Along the way, I was given new orders to beam to the Academy to speak to a Lieutenant Ferra, a Caitian. This return assignment was to allow our officers to grow. We now have twenty-nine new officers from Starfleet Academy, ready for assignments. I immediately started them working on some engineering, science and diplomatic assignments that needed to be worked on. Most of these assignments were completed without any fuss or injuries. I'll be keeping an eye on some of these recruits, along with my primary bridge officers.
Tala was able to discuss salvage some items from our last mission Admiral Quinn gave us. She, Tayna and Fernando are focusing on implementing the new deflector dish enhancements and increase our weapon abilities. I'm speaking with another Admiral for some spare requisitions. He said he would schedule something into time and forward some available requisitions if he could.
I got a very interesting surprise. Commander Williams was transferred and Captain Sulu has taken over his duties. It'll take some time for me to get used to that, but I hope that Commander Williams is safe with his new assignment.
Admiral Quinn has forwarded a communique to my terminal. I'll have to review the next mission before Macross sets out on her next mission. With these new Duty Officers, I will be able to handle assignments I wouldn't have been able to complete myself.

Tala was able to receive some upgrades for our weapons from the Admiral we were working with. He had some spare disruptor cannons which we were able to outfit the Macross. We've disabled our Torpedo system, which has Tala a little upset, but she will be fine once we acquire Quantum Torpedoes for our systems. Still the cannons have a little more kick, but not a lot of angle of fire. Tala is working on some patterns to use with the current phaser array we've got.
Fernando received some deflector upgrades, shields and impulse upgrades. Along with a phaser rifle and armor. The Admiral will send some more once he can dig through his requisition stores. We sold some of the upgrades, as we couldn't use them exactly, which gave us enough credits to purchase the correct items we need from other vendors.
We're leaving Earth Space dock to complete another mission.

Admiral Quinn's log, Stardate 89569.41 (12/18/2011 15:06)
It is with great regret that I send this log to the loved ones of the U.S.S. Macross. The U.S.S. Macross was destroyed saving the lives of those on Starbase 24 when a secondary wave of Klingon Battleships warped in on top of the Macross saving another ship, which also did not make it with the onslaught of Klingon ships.
Commanding the ship was Lieutenant James R. Valient. First Officer, Tala. Chief Medical officer Tynza Esryb. Chief Science officer Tordulag. Chief Engineer officer Fernando Mitch Opstein. All 200 crew members of the Macross were killed in action during a warp core breach after twenty Klingon ships opened fired upon the Macross. We were able to get the last few minutes of the Macross's bridge video logs before her core exploded.
[LT Valient] "Tala, return fire to the fighters attacking us. I want us to come about two-seven-eight mark four. Concentrate forward cannons upon the closest..."
[Large explosion from the console left of the command chair]
[Ensign Tala] "Captain, we've lost forward and starboard shields."
[Ensign Fernando] "James, Starboard nacelle breached. We're leaking plasma into space."
[LT Valient] "Fernando, reroute power to the impulse engines, I want us away.."
[Another explosion, this time behind the command chair tossing Tynza from her console]
[Ensign Tala] "Hull Breaches on desk 4, 7 and 15. Main Engineering is detecting a warp core breach in progress."
[Ensign Fernando] "We're loosing her James!"
[Ensign Tala] "Rerouting shields to starboard."
[LT Valient] "Forget the shields, there's too many of them. All hands, abandon ship!"
[Two more explosions, then the video is disrupted]
With all due respect, I believed that Lieutenant Valient would have made a fine captain and officer. He took the risks needed to protect Starbase 24 from the Klingon attack force. The Macross will surely be missed along with her crew.
We at Starfleet salute you.
Admiral Quinn, signing off.

I'd definitely recommend trying again with a new character. However, this time, I'd suggest trying one of the Lieutenant Level C-Store Ships, namely either the NX Replica or the Oberth. It might help in the survivability department.
