Cadets.. Attention.

This is Senior Instructor K'tar. He will now instruct you on what you
will experience at the Acedmy the next 3 years.

Thank you Leader W'hol You may wait outside.

I do not welcome you to this place. It is a place of testing. Of learning. Of trial. And for some of you, the place you come to die. When you are finished here, those of you that survive, I will welcome as officers of the Klingon Defence Forces. Untill then you have no name. You will be called Cadet followed by a unit designation that will identify your unit and your place in it. During your period of instruction that designation may change. You will be assigned to a squad. One of the squad will be Cadet leader of the squad. This is not a rank. It carries no duties, and only one responsibility. The Cadet Leader is a Cadet. If any Cadet under the Cadet Leader fail to perform thier dutys to the Satisfaction on the Instructor cadre at the academy the Cadet leader will be punished along with the offending cadet.

You will be armed at all times with an issued K'tang and a standard Disruptor Pistol. These item will be kept in good repair at all times. You will be issues a standard uniform. This will be kept in good repair at all times. You are not permitted house markings of any kind, emblishments of any kind. There will be no personal item in your quarters or on your person at any time. When addressing another cadet you will refer to them as Cadet. When speaking to anyone NOT a cadet you will address them as sir untill they tell you differntly. There will be no honor duels between cadets. Any Cadet caught involved in an honor duel of any kind will be executed. You are the lowest of the low. Even a slave of the empire outranks you. A condemded prisioner on Rura Penta has the power of life and death over you. All of you have finished warrior training either through a certifed house instructor or Klingion Defence Forces warrior traing course. There will be little actuall physical training that takes place here other then that needed to maintain your skills. You will me monitored at all times and under observation at all times. Understand this and accept it.

During your first half year you will train on Warship systems and technology. You will learn Damage control and systems repair. Much of this instruction will at the the Qo'nos ship yards on actuall ships in for refit and repair. Once you have satifactorily compleated that portion of your training you will begin learning stratagy and tactics and begin specific trainng in your specialty area's Of Tactical, Security, Engineering, Operations, Sciences, or Medical. During this period of your training some of you, The best of you may recieve early commissions. You will still be cadets. You will not be informed of this directly. The priveledges of your rank will not take effect untill you have graduated. Your families will be informed though.

Leader W'hol will now take you to recieved your issue. All that you current have in your possession with be packaged. Those of you who have family or house members that brought you here will have an opportunity to say one last goodby. You may leave your personal effects with them. For those of you who do not a staff member will be present to accept your personal item which will eather be shipped to where ever you wish, stored, or disposed of. Any of you with skin decorations or peircings will see the medical Bekk to have these removed. Let me make this crystal clear. You will retain NO personal item of any kind. Failure to comply carries penalties up to and including execution. There will be no further contact with family, house, aquaintences, or sponsors untill you graduate from this facility. There is only success, or Death. If you do not graduate, it is because you are dead.

You will graduate with a minimum rank of Ensign. The very best of you will graduate as a Commander and will recieve a ship on graduation from this academy. There are very few of these. You have much yet to learn and more you will find out about during your instruction here. You will learn the first time. There are no second chances here any more then there are second chances aboard a Battle Cruiser in combat. You either do it right or you die. And you will come to terms with the reality of you can do everythig right, and still die.

Dismissed.

(just to get you fellows in the mood *evil grin*)

MRE? If they have time to eat they have time to go hunt thier own food and kill it. The pep talk from the one eye old warrior missing aan arm, his face scared from plasma burns walking with a peg leg is after clothing issue.. thats usually where the first cadet of the class dies... for dozing off during a long boring story full of lies. Its where we teach them the value of not falling asleep on watch.. On average at last 1 /3 of the yearly intake do not survivee the first year. Graduation rate is around 30-40% Most die from training accidents, or field executed for failing to properly execute thier duties, or are crippled and released from service on a medical during training. And hand full are simply discharged as utterly incompetent and not worth wasting a disruptor charge on.

The US Marines have NOTHING on KDF officer training. The Empire can't afford soft or incompetent officers. Suriving to comissioning leaves warriors in a state of being ready to handle pretty much anything theuiniverse throws at them because if they can survive officcer training the rest of thier career should be a cake walk. After all, after graduation they're permitted to shoot back!

Where the heck did Roach mention marines in any way?
He said MRE, which means "Meal, Ready-to-Eat".
And they're not just used by marines anyway.
Instead of a more general term like "field rations" he just used an acronym that he as an American would be familiar with.
In my case that would have been Einmannpackung (EPA) but since it's a German term (and it conflicts with the acronym for the "Environmental Protection Agency") I would not have used it.
Dude, you need to lighten up a tiny bit.

We know from Star Trek 4 Klingons have food packs on their ships.
There is also a line in the "The Left Hand of Destiny" novels about a Klingon Officer who has to run to the next bush for "number two". Worf mentally remarks that some people can't handle the high-protein rations that well.
So it's reasonable to assume cadets would learn to live with them under most situations where hunting is not possible and replicators are not an option either.
I just can't picture Klingons with gum, for one they probably don't have something like this and it would probably look as much out of place as Jean Reno and his team of agents did chewing gum in "Godzilla".

And you've still not answered my question, what is a K'tang supposed to be.
The only thing I could find was that this was tha name of a Klingon ship.
Did you mean a "D'k tahg"?

Its an old joke. MRE's are very dry most times and tend to clog one's bowels up.

    The gum is a laxative.

I can only imagine a Klingon laxative and the first time effects it would have on a squad learning to eat thier first MRE's, klingon style.

You can't tell me some very amused DI's are not off to the side trying to hide thier laughter.

MRE's are ment to be " low residue"

The gum is not a laxitive.

The only solution to the " low residue " is by drinking alot of water.

You need to drink water anyway.

What Makes You Think You Rate Blood Pie ?

Who said you could Think, Cadet.

B..b..b...but my father is K'maccaroni the infamous food-ciritc.
When he really hates the food in your restaurant he'll challenge you to a fight to the death.
He lost three fingers, six teeth and an eye but he's the darn best food-critic in the Empire!
He taught me all I know about food.
And he also said to me "think before you drink".
And I was just about to wash this pie down with this bloodwine here...I think it's bloodwine...could also be prune juice...you can never be sure with these mystery-meal rations.

Well, you know "Gagh is always best when served life", means it is okay to eat it dead too it's just not preferable.
And as I recall the purpose of MRE is to keep you fed and preferably healthy not fulfiil some culinary wet dream like the ones my alter ego i this thread has.:)
