Thank you. At least now we dont have to wait until 1/17 for the changes on Tribble to be live. Please tell me that with this annoucement, the DS9 FE will also be hitting Holodeck before the office F2P launches? I think that would go a long way to appease those in the community (not me btw) who feel short changed.
So in about a month subbers really WILL be paying to test F2P.
The stipend is nice but I'm assuming that with the Tribble rollout to Holodeck in December that C-$tore prices will increase as well? Oh well. I can always trade them for Dilithium.
Seriously? They plan to bring it to Holodeck early December? I still think there are quite a few bugs and issues that need resolved.
1. Doff System math is still messed up. There are other issues too. However, I think this system could be ready.
2. Economy. The conversion to Dilithium still seems out of balance to me.
3. Threaded Missions. All my characters are on Skirmish, which I just did not feel like playing and have gone no further even though they are admirals.
4. Crafting. Still sucks having Diltiihum involved in needing build materials.
Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of cool stuff in the F2P stuff, but there are still enough issues that December seems rushed to convert Holodeck.
Thank you. At least now we dont have to wait until 1/17 for the changes on Tribble to be live.
1-8 December!?
Good god! I thought I had until January to get my affairs squared away!
Respectfully, isn't it a bit rich to implement the F2P economy so far ahead of the actual F2P launch? I know I've asked it before, but I'll ask it again
What are we paying for? There won't be any F2P players before January, so why are we throwing our money at them before they've even arrived!

No, subbers have already been paying to test f2p since they announced it, thuogh if you really want to be technical, they've been paying to test f2p ever since the game first came out since it was intially meant to be f2p anyways. Which would also make the constant denying that they wanted to be f2p lies, also validate everything most of us have come to learn about the c-store and the game in general.
It's still rehashes of the same STFs and FEs we've done for the past two years. And while the DOffs are nice, they're nothing more than a minigame/Pokemon in space.
What is there to keep people logging in, other than checking in every so often to check on their DOffs?
The devs will need to work overtime to get all the bugs sorted out before it goes to Holodeck or else we will have a repeat of Season 2 disaster heading our way.

this exactly, what about all the bug fixes we were promised, or the new skill tree, or the fine tune of everything? I'm supposed to believe that everything is going to be done, in three weeks? I'm sorry but this doesn't sound all that hot to me.
Slow down, fix the problems, now, stop trying to rush it. all your rushing has only hurt you before, don't go back to that bad habit now, you 'were' starting to make progress
Yay, I can't wait to start using the Doff system on holodeck. Also, this will let subscribers learn the new system so that when the Silvers come we can answer their questions
I hope you at least fix the current builds on tribble first. You haven't even finished the economy or the skill revamp or... well you know what you've not really finished much of anything...
Honestly, I still think there are missed opportunities for repeatable content and additional Klingon content that need to be addressed before F2P. Perhaps they do not have to wait for the F2P build we are testing now but they do need to be addressed before 1/17.
As far as the current build, I have yet to see much tweaking on anything except for the Doff System, STFs, and a one pass on the Diilthium Store. There are things that remain that do need addressing, i.e. the mission chain that even D'angelo said was bad and Admiral access to GO. This is not to mention the silly Boff AI bugs now, power misfires, UI unresponsiveness, blinking mail light, etc....
Plus, we still have a broken mediocre exploration system on top of that.
When will these things be addressed in the next four weeks?

when the priorty changes from low to game-breaking. they've always been low on priorty, as game-breaking bugs are what drive people away, not the low annoyance ones
as for exploration system, the patrol missions are getting revamped into new missions, to only be stumbled upon, not ordered to us by admirals... that's exploration right there, so it'll help
Didn't the players who've been around the longest register their keys at the end of January 2010?
This means they won't be getting the stipend until late December. Other players who signed up at different points in their respective months will get the stipend earlier - could be seen as a tad unfair.
Why not start the stipend for everyone from the 1st?
Thanks for the update. The early rollout of the stipend is a real show of good faith. Have been following the forums on this topic for several weeks now and while the transition may be a bumpy road, I believe we as a community can come together and for STO to still be a fun place to embrace that legendary calling of "exploring strange new worlds".
Also, to repeat an earlier point made - where does the build going live on Holodeck leave Tribble testing rewards - can we continue to work towards and accumulate them on Tribble between this date and F2P launch or is this a cut-off point? It's not a be-all-or-end-all thing, just something worth knowing.

I think that is always going to be an oddity...You make a fair point though.
But that said, I see this as good news...I hope. I'm not sure what all this new content that is being referred to is, but hey! Who knows? Right?
The early Stipend start ideally would have started this month, but thanks in any case - this is a nice 'copy' of how NCSoft handled City of Heroes offering a headstart and early stipend to existing subscribers, and something I at least partially suggested some time back - I repeat my earlier - F*** You - Fank You
There is gonna be strong mix of feed back, I anticipate a lot of folks liking the Doff system, and a lot of folks liking the queue system, but I also for see many x many q_qing over the dilithium system, on a scale we have only just touched on in the feed back forum, not to mention the massive q_q we will see when folk learn they have to grinding 360 STFs to get a new space and ground Set.
Interesting. If the go-live is also releasing the new content^H playable missions and the FE, then that will go far in soothing ruffled feathers. It may even keep people vacillating between TOR and STO, which STO will need badly.
May we get confirmation as to if the Holodeck go-live will be including the new playable missions and the new Featured Episode?
It's debatable if the DOff system counts as new content in the 'playable mission' sense, but it will be good to see it live. Much good has been said of it. Likewise the new Gamma-O STFs.
So all in all, good. If this is indeed something to tide over current subscribers (and not, as my cynical Mirror Universe version* insists, some sort of grasp at getting everyone to test Tribble and iron out the bugs on the backs of the subscribers before the F2P release) then it's definitely a good move.
I'd still like to know if that bridge-view in the intro video was not some sneaky hint-drop that we've gotten bridge-view combat at last.

HERE COMES THE EPIC FAILURE OF STAR TREK ONLINE. I already know this game will fail. Not enough content as is. I am a lifetimer and I would not pay for monthly sub to be a gold member is I had a choice with its current state. I will no longer be putting any money into this game and I will be suggesting other to do the same. I look forward the new game based of of the new movie.

Was it intended that the date of the F2P launch would be that date, and be internationally known as 17/01, or 1701?
Registry of the Enterprise or what?
Wow, I didnt catch that. Coolies.

Hooray! Looking forward to it.
