I'm HOPPING MAD now. Taking the 250 emblems from the 500 vet reward bothered me a little, but I sat and waited, having faith that I would not be screwed. Even with all the BS changes going on, I tried to remind myself Tribble is just Beta, things will change. I hit the 500 day reward not too long ago, and I was sure you all would actually do what you said and make good on replacing the 250 emblems.
Now... What do I see? A VA token at 600 days!?! Ummmm.... 600? Seriously? So.... wow... I'm a bit floored here. Everyone who was fortunate enough to hit the 500 days before you took the emblems away has their stuff. And, if they don't spend them, they will be converted to dilithium when F2P goes live. The rest of us? Oops, sorry, too bad, so sad. You'll get your "replacement" in ANOTHER 100 DAYS. This is unacceptable.
And before someone points out that as a lifer I am playing for free.... no, I'm not. I was not one who bought the lifetime at the start. Like a moron, I got mine in April of this year, after subbing for quite a while. Now, I see what a huge mistake I made. New people will be playing for free long before my lifetime "pays" for itself.
Honestly, it's not even that I WANT the VA token. I don't really need it. It's just the principle of the change that really is a kick in the teeth to so many of us. If you really want to show the community you are listening and plan on making good on your promises, addressing this issue would be a really good start.

Not only have they taken away the emblems (which was bad enough) but they replaced them with something you can only get if you didn't reach VA before the game went F2P. We should be getting the VA ship token (or at least a discount) anyways. So basically they are taking away a fabulous reward that others have already gotten and replacing it with something we should have anyways. Way to go cryptic.
How does any one respond to this favorably ... I'm at a loss of what to say. I'm to participate by logging onto the test server (somehtinbg I don't typically do due to such a limited amount of time I have to play at all .... ) yet .. WOW
*** sigh ***
I wish I could think of some sort of reasonable resolution to suggest.
Good grief .. why do things always have to be so complicated with so much negative input surround this?
[/shrugs] ....
Man ... there ought to be a better resolutions. Seriously.
There is one other detail on this. Any character which has already achieved level 51 prior to the Tribble build going to Holodeck will not get a second token. Those characters already received a token, so they do not get a second one..
This kind of bothers me. Most people would have reached VA LONG before their 600 day mark, so this is really just a bit of a slap to the face seeing how what we USED to get for free is now a vet reward.... unless you're already a VA in which case you get nothing. This really only works for people that join AFTER F2P which is a bad idea since they don't get vet rewards unless they pay. this is seriously a TERRIBLE alternative to the 250 emblems. It's a really cheap tactic by Cryptic.

Or something to that effect. Sadly, his quote says nothing of the sort. I wonder if Cryptic realizes that a Veteran Reward that gives people less for having played more isn't much of a "Veteran" reward? Maybe they should change the title associated with the 600 day reward for those that won't get the VA token. I'm thinking 'Ineligible' would work.

the 250 emblems should have been replaced with between 75,000 dilithium (valued at 300 dilithium/emblem which is below actual item price inflatation) and 175,000 (valued at 700 dilithium/emblem which is still below price inflatation in some areas - though above inflation in other areas)
they're kind of TRIBBLE players because most people have several characters at VA LONG before the 600 day mark. those that hit VA before P2W will be getting screwed out of a Vet reward. Possibly two if he DID mean 600 instead of 500 which is still lacking.
Personally i'd LOVE to see them replace VA token if you are ineligible. Maybe something in the way of Borg salvage items? Enough salvage to pick up an item would be an awesome way to give something to the people who already achieved VA but were screwed out of their vet rewards.

This.
The emblems weren't taken away, just traded for Dilithium.
Now, if you already spent them...well, you get nothing. If you still have them, you get the Dilithium.
If you really want to take advantage of the system, make a new character now on Holodeck. That character will get the emblems, because you are a vet that gets thtem. When F2P goes live, you also get the VA token because you didn't get it yet.
You are getting both rewards.
And, if you think your Lifetime sub is a waste, you need to consider this. You get 400 points a month, and you don't have to pay the monthly sub anymore.
That's about 5 bucks a month they just give you, plus you get access to everything in game like a gold player...and you never pay another dime.
In a year they will give you 60 bucks worth of points. Your LTS in April, that's 8 months of no sub by the time F2P goes live. That's 120 bucks. By the time April rolls around, your LTS 1 year mark, you'd have spent 180 bucks to get the same thing you'd have gotten. You thinik it was stupid to LTS, that it won't pay for itself? Well, you aren't considering that Lifetime means LONG TIME. By this time next year, you will have broken even.
Even though you aren't paying the 15 a month, you get the same benefit. So even though the game is free to play, you are getting gold benefits, which is 15 a month. April was when they had that 20% off sale, right? So you paid 239 bucks for your sub? Takes 16 months to pay for itself. By this time next year you are well beyond "paid for".

Actually, they were taken away. Not from those who already received them, that is true. But, they were taken away from those who hit the 500 day mark during this time of limbo since they were removed and before F2P goes live. The way it worked before, all toons on an account unlocked the 250 emblems correct? Now, if your toons happen to already be a VA when this goes live, they will not get anything at all. That means taken away. Or did I miss something?
Also, I do understand the math when it comes to LTS. I know when it will pay for itself. I was making a judgment call on how it felt for me, I was not meaning to imply anyone else should feel their LTS is or isn't worth it. In general, I've not been unhappy with my LTS. But, taking something away, and replacing it with something my main toon can't even acquire reduces the value in my opinion. If it was just a free ship slot, or something like that, I wouldn't care. But, with the new dilithium economy, and emblems being converted to dilithium when F2P goes live, that's a large chunk taken away.
It doesn't matter whether it is a LTS or a sub, something that players have already been able to receive shouldn't be replaced with something they may, or may not, be able to receive based on whether they've gotten a ship token already.
You forgot, Cryptic are only interested in good feedback that will affect the "millions" of f2p players that are apparantly coming.
Anything that affects the current playerbase to cryptic is mute...

A VA token won't be much good for someone who is VA and hasn't hit the reward yet, and not getting the emblems means that you won't get the RD when F2P goes live either.
Yeah, they need to look at that. Some people stand to get neither reward, some get both.
You forgot, Cryptic are only interested in good feedback that will affect the "millions" of f2p players that are apparantly coming.

Oh thats right, I must have missed the anouncement that dilithium is being removed from crafting, and the va token is being restored to all subscribers and not just 600 day veterans.
Please point me to the official post please?
If you are in fact talking about the scraps they keep throwing to try and appease the situation, I stand by my original post...

This is more akin to a negotiation. You want dilithium removed from crafting, they want dilithium to be meaningful. What is being proposed as a compromise? Same for 500 day (now confirmed NOT 600 day) vet reward.
The reason why some of these issues were resolved is because realistic suggestions were being given, not just blind opposition.

I still like this the best ... its good .. fair and current with the new economy that is comming

Dilithium will never be meaningful as long as it can be bought for real money rather than working to get it.
We had a meaningful currency, emblems. They chose to turn it from being meaningful into a cheap tacky cash grab.
Why work for months grinding and then another month waiting to refine it, when you can get it in 5 minutes. Hell, as soon as its live im buying it, see what I mean
I would dearly love for the devs to get together and pull some of the ideas we the community have made regarding dilthium and put them into effect. I want the game to succeed
The va token, something they took away, and then after lots of enraged posts, gave it back in a gimped state that does not solve the problem that was started.
In essence, they are charging a subscriber $250 or more for that onetime account unlock of a va ship!!
The VA1 ship token should be a reward, but not at 600 days but rather at 100.
The reason the EP gave for not having the VA token given simply for subscribing is for people who buy their subscription for a month, claim the ship, then cancel their subscription and effectively get a $10 discount on the ship.
100 days is over 3 months of subscriptions, by that point Cryptic has gotten their money's worth so we won't "be getting one over on them". This would both be fair and put out flames.

In thinking a bit more, prior to the changes the 500 reward was like Christmas, and the 600 reward was a minimal afterthought that appeared to catch them by surprise.
As such, I have no problem with them moving one of the 500 day rewards to be 600 day instead, and I hope people agree and cool down on that particular subject. I still maintain that the 600 day reward should be dilithium and 100 day reward should be the VA1 token.
//// and yes I know I posted the same thing in two threads that are on similar topics - not spamming, comment just made sense for both

I would agree with this, except for one thing... some people already have gotten the 250 emblems for the 500 day reward. So, some people should have them and the rest now shouldn't? This isn't about cooling down, it's about what is right. I can't speak for everyone, but I am not asking for anything here that no one else is getting. I'm asking for what others already got. I hit 500 days just over 9 days ago. So, because I was a week or two behind the rest I should just "cool down" and not expect what someone just a couple weeks longer with the game got?
Those of us going beyond the 500 day mark since the emblems have been removed, and going forward, have spent as much as everyone else, it's about being fair.
