Greetings Community and Developers.
Simplified makes the game less complicated to play and develop. In result the game can be moved onto towards content. In that the skill tree revamp was very much needed. Although it was not what I expected as a revamp but it rather became a Simplified Version. Improvement is improvement and I'd gladly embrace my playstyle under this new spreadsheet.
Weapons nerf is more than needed. I am not a PvPer at heart, rather a PvEer. However I view both sides of the game with great expectation and theorycraft my fleet's setup's for their ships to the best of their performance. In result in PvE testing I felt that my Beam Overload I dealing 120k Damage (Tetryon, I don't want to imagin AntiProton) being ridiculous. In that Kudos. Also I would like to question Cryptic's common sense in regards to checking whether the actually functions when being updated (Cough Cough dough doff cough cough). I wouldn't be surprised if you taboo that incident ever happened and this time, open it up in the office, check maybe the UI is missing in some form or fasion. Hmm? -nudge and wink-

Anyways have fun and get me my 10man STFs.
So then explain to me why its okay to nerf certain builds and promote other builds? Why can I buff my gravity well and tractor beam much more cost effective because both skills are effected by a single tier 3 skill, and be nerfed with scramble sensors and viral matrix, because you need two, tier 5 skills to build them up? How is that fair to those of us who use scramble sensors and viral matrix. What's worse is that its less cost effective to resist gravity well and tractor beam (because its resist is a tier 4) and more effective to resist gravity well and scramble sensors (for the same reason.) How is it needed to have certain mk III bridge officer skills easier to train up, and others harder to train up.
if the nerf was universal and fair I'd agree with you completely. However, certain builds are nerfed and others are buffed, with no reasoning. Its an unfair and uneven nerf/buff which is my problem.
Damage isn't so bad. It's actually incredibly weak compared to healing which is terribly over powered. Also, testing against NPCs isn't the best since they have terrible AI, very few abilities (there is a huge gap between a buffed and unbuffed enemy) and almost no defensive capabilities. The current skill tree is too condensed, overly simplified (yet not at all intuitive), promotes selfish game play, reduces customizable options significantly and just isn't any fun.
Let me guess, another engineer. If I had a dollar for every engineer that did not notice much difference...
Fine. I then propose something else.
Nerf this person's hull, shield, weapon power, bridge officer abilities... and then i will be ok. Basically the nerf to weapons sticks it to escorts. We do not have great shields or hulls. Our main power was our weapons. So in all fairness, if you want to wild the nerf bat, nerf everyone, not just escorts. I would actually be ok with that.
Awesome, my drop was huge, maybe thats my idiocy. But its still a drop. I say nerf them all or nerf em none.
Did you build a Damage dealing specialized SP lay-out or a more genralized SP lay-out?
Specialized can still do the high damage numbers at a cost of some defensive values.
General can cover all the bases for a medium level in everything, but loses the high damage capability.
My problem is I was still in the same mindset of the old skill tree when I made mine. If/when I ever get a respec token I will take some advice and spread the points out and maximize nothing except for HY3 and RF3, keeping all values around 5 or so.
One of my builds was pure damage, and was great... till they fired a phaser at me, haha... or a small pebble floating in space hit my windshield... or when my first officer sneezed and blew a hole in the wall ...

lol- tell me about it. All great until they used the tractor beam on me and I died.
Like any BoP, if I stop moving I die.
then again thats the sacrifice I choose to boost my defenses to Placate and confuse abilies.

In my opinion.

about the same, only thing noticed different is the wild crit swings on tribble.
New skills will just take some getting used to
Oh yeah! Trics doing 20k today and 48k yesterday and back to 20k tommorrow.
There are little bugs but overall I am ok with the changes.
