Are you not happy with the decisions being made on our homeworld?
I offer you an alternative.

The DavHam Alliance.

Unlike what the Klingon High Council tells us, compassion is not for the weak; instead it can only build strength. Join us today and find out what a truly 'honorable' future holds!

Currently there is only one Clan in the alliance: As members increase additional Clans might be formed.

Much like the Maquis and the Federation, the DavHam Alliance is comprised of Klingons who, though proud of their ancestral heritage, are not pleased with the direction their government is taking.
There is no requirement to join…but inactive members may eventually lose rank and eventually be dropped. The goal is to build a productive alliance with noble accomplishments. Great deeds will be written on The Scrolls of HoQ!

General HoQ is the Founder of this Alliance which was established on the following principles:

“What is honorable can always be questioned, Loyalty cannot.”

“Death is Death, no matter how 'honorable'. History is written by the survivors, chose your fights wisely.”

“There is nothing more dangerous than an enemy within, be sure it isn’t you.”

“Where acts of compassion are thought to be signs of weakness, I see strength in numbers for future battles.”

What do we stand for?

[Still working on this one…suggestions welcome. Consider it the first challenge for Admiralty. We need a stance for each division: Warriors and Sciences.]

The General gives an overriding decision in matters of dispute. If these orders are not followed the General will ceremonially demote or replace the petaQ!

--Clans--Each clan has two Admirals, one for each department: Warriors, Sciences
They share equal leadership of the clan’s business but have individual command of their department’s members. Only Admirals and the General have authority to promote those they command.

--Departments--
Warriors: Every member of the warrior department is to have a specialty.
Blade or Tactical

Sciences: Every member of the sciences department is to have a specialty.
Medical or Engineering

Each department has the following positions, by rank:
Captain
Commander
Lieutenant [1]
Lieutenant [2]
Lieutenant [3]
Bekk [1]
Bekk [2]
Bekk [3]
Bekk [4]
Bekk [5]

New recruits are assigned the highest rank available to the department they chose assuming there are openings.

--Promotions and Demotions--
Type 1- The Sliding Rule: The numbers by ranks with multiple positions are simply indicating seniority in the rank but have no difference in authority. Lieutenant [1] and [3] hold the same rank, it merely indicates who arrived in that position first. If the L[2] position becomes vacant, the L[3] fills in and Bekk [1] is promoted to L[3] and so on.

Type 2- The Challenge: If an officer would like to challenge a superior they may do so up to Captain. Only Captains can challenge an Admiral. To challenge the General would be Mutiny thus officially disbanding the Alliance. Challenges will be proposed by the challenger and must include 1) the position they wish to take and 2) a deed worthy of competition between the challenger and the challenged that will benefit the Alliance. The challenge should be somewhat related to the department in question and submitted for review to the appropriate Admiral (or the General in the case of an Admiral Challenge). Keep in mind that jumping several ranks is conceivable but would require a significant challenge! The results of all challenges will be reviewed by the Admiral and announced by the General based on the Admiral’s assessment. [Actions prior to the challenge will be taken into account.]

Type 3- Reassignment: Admirals may propose re-assignments within their department; the General has the sole authority to re-assign rank (though this method will be used sparingly). The most common reason for reassignment is demotion, but on rare occasions promotions without a challenge can occur.

If you are interested in joining, send in your application (a PM stating your reasons for joining) to the General or the Admiral in the department you’re interested in.

Upon joining the Alliance you must display the appropriate avatar. Following is a link to all possible Division/Rank possibilities. Save them all where you can find them in case you are promoted or change departments someday!

As of week ending: 11/06/2011:

The general purpose of this posting will be to highlight my top 3 to 5 missions I review in a week. Since I am already reviewing the missions for content in a separate posting I will not regurgitate those reports in detail here.

Before I start I would first like to say thanks to all of you who have spent your time authoring missions to make the game that much richer. As an author I know how much time you can spend developing a good mission, so thanks!

Report Start

I have conducted just over 30 in depth evaluations of Federation missions. Many of which were submitted to my forum posting but not all of them. So here are my top 15 of the 30 Federation Missions:
1. Overture series 1 through 3: I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of these missions. The story is outstanding and extremely detailed. There are several places where I laughed out loud. There are several places where I really had no idea what would come next. I like that in a story. More specific information on the mission from the author KineticImpulser can be found on their forum posting: Star Trek: Overture.
2. Deadly Intentions (Series): This is a great series which has kept me riveted to my seat every step of the way. Your writing and maps is outstanding. More specific information from the author Sovereign77x can be found on their forum posting: Deadly Intentions - A Techno-Political Thriller.
3. Dereliction Duty: This was one of the best missions I’ve played from the Foundry. The story is excellent and served to draw me into the mission. The map design and battles are very well done. More specific information on the mission from the author Nagorak can be found on their forum posting: Dereliction Duty- An interactive Star Trek story.
4. Good Intentions - Parts I and II: Both missions are outstanding. The story dialog, the battles and the strange new alien race are all very well done. More specific information on the mission from the author RogueEnterprise can be found on their forum posting: Good Intentions - Parts I and II.
5. Carnosaur Sanctum and Exodus of Dragons: Both are truly a great mission! The entire series has a great story with well written dialog that includes plot twists and some battles to mix it up a little. More specific information from the author Gugeyewalker can be found on their forum posting: Mission Trailor - Exodus of Dragons and Carnosaur Sanctum.
6. Spawn of Medusa (Series): More specific information from the author Duke-of-Rock can be found on their forum posting: Spawn of Medusa .
7. Pioneer (Series): This is an excellent series. The dialog is well written and the maps are very well done. The fights are tough but a good challenge. More specific information from the author Kahn can be found on their forum posting: The Pioneer Series by Kahn.
8. City of the Polmar Ree: This is an outstanding mission. The story dialog is engaging and the maps are stunning. The investigative elements and effects on each map are excellent. More specific information from the author alimac30 can be found on their forum posting: City of the Polmar Ree.
9. Surrounded: This is an outstanding mission with great map designs well written dialog and good battles. More specific information from the author Cerritouru can be found on their forum posting: Surrounded.
10. One of None: This is a fantastic mission. The level of effort put into the mission from the writing, through map design and the story execution kept me interested for the entire mission. More specific information from the author Commander_Charvanek can be found on their forum posting: New Mission: One of None.
11. Alpha And Omega - The Prologue: It's a good start to your series. Very intriguing and I like the premise. You did a good job developing the overall story. In my opinion it had just the right balance of dialog and action. More specific information from the author Mazimer can be found on their forum posting: Alpha And Omega - The Featured Series.
12. Class Dismissed (Series): This is some of the best map design and dialog writing I have seen The battles were well balanced and fun. More specific information from the author Capt.PFDennis can be found on their forum posting: The Phoenix of Bavar.
13. Bishop's Crook: It was a great mission and I liked the story too. You did a good job writing and developing the story. More specific information from the author Pi-3Orionis can be found on their forum posting: Bishop's Crook (Ties that Blind trilogy).
14. A Relic's Return (Series): Excellent mission! It is dialog heavy but the story was very engaging and well written. The entire series drew me in and kept me interested. More specific information from the author Armsman can be found on their forum posting: A Relic's Return (Conclusion).
15. The Mysteries of Pon Farr: This is a great mission! Really well written and you did a great job developing the story. I liked the map design More specific information from the author Bazag can be found on their forum posting: The Mysteries of Pon Farr.

For the Klingon missions I’ve only had one submitted to my forum posting In depth mission reports upon request. I’ve evaluated two others in depth and about twenty or so leaving only the feedback that STO allows. Of those missions only one scored four stars from me.

So I guess what I’m trying to say are the Klingon missions will start out at 3 out of 23 Klingon Missions:
1. Trill Death Do We Part: This is a great mission. The dialog is very well written and serves to drive the story. The map design and effects are really good. The battles are glorious! More specific information from the author Kahn would be found on their forum posting if they had one for this mission. :D In lieu of that you can find information about the mission on my posting: Trill Death Do We Part Forum Post.
2. Order of Hov'lw: This is a good mission with a good short story and some good battles. More specific information from the author SBCouto can be found on their forum posting: KLINGON MISSION- Order of Hov'lw- Please Try!
3. Prologue: Demons and Traitors: This is a great story, well written and great map design. I was unable to find any entry for the Author Aesir_Vanguard regarding this mission.

End Report

If you’d like to submit a mission for evaluation please submit it to my forum posting In depth mission reports upon request. The missions do not have to be deep dialog driven stories, just a good fun mission. I will also be selecting from the postings you submit to the "The Foundry For Star Trek Online - Mission Database" forum.

Thanks again for authoring.

As one of the first authors to receive your reviews, I have been extremely impressed by the quality of your work. When I first saw what you were committing to--the level of detail you were promising to provide--I thought it was an ambitious project to say the least. Yet somehow, you've kept up with demand and provided an invaluable service to myself and many other Foundry authors. I think I speak for many people when I say, "Thank you!"

p.s. I finally implemented your suggestion regarding the "Skip Dialogue" option. I'm happy to report that the "too much dialogue" criticism has vanished from the player reviews I'm getting. :D

Thanks for the compliment. It is greatly appreciated. I really do enjoy reviewing people’s missions and I’ve hoped the critiques I provide help them. I often read other people’s short reviews on STO as I get ready to play the mission. Some of the feedback I see is quite unhelpful to say the least. Even the worst of missions I’ve played deserves a constructive review. I would like to believe anyone who spends their time developing a mission is trying to do the best they can. I figure if I can provide constructive feedback they may improve their work. If not, at least I tried to help them.

I’m glad the suggestion helped. :D It certainly worked for me and I figured it could help another author so I passed it on. I don’t mind sharing ideas with other authors. The exchange ideas and techniques make the database of missions better and therefore more entertaining and more fulfilling for us all.

I would like to let everyone know that just because they may not have made it on this list I still appreciate their efforts in authoring missions. I hope they pick that up from my evaluations of their individual missions.

Thanks again for the compliment. It has been my honor to review others missions.

Your work on those missions was outstanding. The writing is superb. The map designs are simply great. I have always believed in giving constructive reviews. To me it is better to encourage rather than discourage, especially when reviewing some ones work. Thank you for authoring and please keep up the great work.

It was my pleasure. Your missions were very well done, from the writing to the map designs. Simply great missions and it is apparent that you enjoyed making them. Thank you for authoring and keep up the great work.

Again I want to say thanks to everyone who is authoring missions out there even if you didn’t make this list. Just remember I had to choose from more than 30 missions and that wasn’t easy. ;) Keep up the great work and I look forward to reviewing more missions. I’ll see you out there…

Report Start

I want to start off by saying thank you to everyone who authors missions. Even if you didn’t make my list this week your efforts make STO game play that much richer by your efforts. Please keep it up.

This week I continued my reviews and found several Federation missions that I thoroughly enjoyed. Some of the were submitted to my forum posting but not all of them. So here are my top 5 Federation Missions:
1. Overture 4 - The Ferengi Scherzo: This is a great sequel in the series. The writing is stunning. The map design and effects execution is outstanding. Again there are several places where I laughed out loud. If you like a compelling story with great maps then this is the story and series for you. More specific information on the mission from the author KineticImpulser can be found on their forum posting: Star Trek: Overture.
2. Personal Reflection: This is an excellent mission. The story dialog is very well written and the map design is great. The battles are tough but fun and not impossible. I would highly recommend this mission to everyone. More specific information on the mission from the author XR-377 can be found on their forum posting: Personal Reflection.
3. Salvaged: This is an outstanding mission with great story dialog, well designed maps and some good battles in there for good measure. I recommend this mission to anyone who likes a good story, maps and a few battles. More specific information on the mission from the author tom_riker01 can be found on their forum posting: "Salvaged" by Tom_Riker01.
4. Locally Untranslated: This mission is outstanding. The dialog is well written, the map design is really well done and the battles are good. I highly recommend this mission to anyone who likes a good story with their fighting. More specific information on the mission from the author Ogremerc can be found on their forum posting: Locally Untranslated.
5. Ghosts of War series Part I: Dust To Dust: The story dialog is outstanding and the map designs are very well done. The battles are a challenge throughout but not impossible. If you like a great story and good battles then this is the mission for you. More specific information on the mission from the author NCC-89471 can be found on their forum posting: "Ghosts of War" series update.

End Report

I didn’t receive any requests for reviews of Klingon missions and I didn’t see any forum postings for them.

Two weeks in a row? To coin a phrase, "I cannot help but be touched."

Of course Overture 5 is still a few weeks away, so I'll have to surrender the #1 spot to another talented soul for next week. But I'll do my best to reclaim that top spot! :)

As of week ending: 11/20/2011:

With the holidays starting here in the U.S. this week I plan to cut back on the weekly favorites and perhaps make it "my monthly favorites". The holidays are one reason and the fact I’m getting ready to start my Bachelor of Science in Information Technology next month is another. I will still be conducting my detailed mission reviews as usual. Making this my monthly favorites will also give me the time to gather more missions for the list. :) So keep submitting them to my "In depth mission reports upon request" forum posting. Thanks for authoring.

Report Start

This week I continued my reviews and found some Federation missions that I thoroughly enjoyed. Some were submitted to my forum posting but not all of them. So here are my top 2 Federation Missions this week.
1. At the Center of the Mind: This is an outstanding mission! If you like a great story, tough battles and good map design then this is your mission. I highly recommend you click the "Hail" button followed by the "Accept" button. More specific information on the mission from the author Ogremerc can be found on their forum posting: At the Center of the Mind.
2. Missing from the Mirror: This is an outstanding mission. The dialog is excellent and the map designs are simply fantastic. I highly recommend this mission to anyone who likes a good story combined with expert map design skills. The author Deffdog posted information regarding his mission on page 9 of: Promote your Foundry mission.

I played a couple Klingon missions and I found one Klingon Mission that I really liked.
1. Qwark KDF Infiltrate ESD: This is a really good mission. It has lots of glorious battles, with dialog and investigations thrown in for good measure. I would definitely recommend this mission. More specific information on the mission from the author Jasper22 can be found on their forum posting: Qwark KDF Infiltrate ESD.

For those I evaluated but didn’t make this list don’t worry about it. Keep authoring because even though you didn’t make this list I still appreciate all your efforts to make STO a richer gaming environment.
