Good Job Elite Gear Phaser Battle Rifle

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
With all the doom and gloom and people fussing and complaining, which i have been one of them on alot of things, i do also beleave in a pat on the back when ya do good, the elite gear phaser battle rifle looks great, love how it holsters on back, and when you use it the end of it opens up, the cool factor is a 10 out of 10, dont know yet how powerfull the gear is but who cares as long as you look cool doing it, sooo good job dev team.

You have to understand people are upset and these skill changes are pretty major change to the norms. So people are going to be rather negative.

But I agree, that the new EF rifle is pretty cool with it having moving parts at the muzzle and it being able to be placed visually on the back.

Ok, so, how many dozens of times do you have to grind the STF's for 'em? I'm kinda getting tired of doing them endlessly for "meh" gear.

Depends, you could get lucky on your first Cure Ground Mission and score a Gun Requesition. Or you have to grind 30 STFs to get enough Data Chips to purchase a Mk X EF Rifle.

Some screen shots for those of us who haven't been able to run an STF and get one would be really cool. :p

    A) Should be a choosable energy type rather than being fixed to phasers
    B) Bridge Officers should be able to wield them
    C) Need more variety in the weapons selection for people that are skilled differently.
    D) Looks like garbage... wouldnt it have been far more effective to make this thing a MACO rifle that has that 'targeting sight' pop up ?

Overall, not that interested in getting it. If I get the loot for it I'm more likely to hand over the thing to my Boffs.

I'd totally go for the bottom center one.

Jesus, that thing is ridiculously huge. It's like a battleship strapped to your back. It doesn't looke like a rifle at all, more like the hand-held torpedo launcher from Elite Force. Either that was the intention or it's just Cryptic f'ing up the scaling again.

I wish they would make those weapons instead of designing their own because Cryptic are TRIBBLE at making their own ground weapons. Make them accurately too and not ridiculously oversized so they don't look like you could go pole vaulting with them.

So... how is it we get hold of the elite gear?

Been out of the game a while and it's the first I've heard of elite gear. The comment about having to grind STFs frightens me somewhat though...

Seconded. That's the only new STF weapon I haven't seen yet...

It reminds me of the railgun from Quake2, or one of the bigger weaposn from Quake3.

IF it packs as much of a punch as it looks like it should, I'd be happy.

Pretty mich all of this. Though I'd like to also change the weapon type too. Sniper rifles don't really do it for me.

I'd also like to have the option to craft the set using different base armor. I'd rather have Energy dampening armor over pollyalloy or Energy harness.

I just want the weapons to scale in size.

Ever tried looking at a 2 meter tall Gorn wielding dual pistols?

"Noisy Cricket" comes to mind... :(

Yeah, that thing is a bit ugly, and way oversized...like all the other Mk X++ rifles.

    Crafting - Dont think so

Expand the vendor so that it has ALL variations people could want - Yes

If this thing is a rifle - If your skilled in Assualt Weapons your boned
If this thing is an Assualt Weapon - If your skilled in Rifles your boned

If someone prefers beam weapons compared to bolt - Your boned
If someone would prefer an Expose weapon - Your boned

Incidentally... does this weapon 'vanish' when you switch to another or will it still give the set bonus if it isnt the weapon your shooting with ?

If it dosent apply the bonus when switched out... the set is boned everytime someone goes from Exploit to Expose.

Frankly: This set should have two weapons as part of the set so that someone can have an Expose and an Exploit in their selection.

Personnally: I would make it a five piece set:
    Kit
    Armor
    Shield
    Weapon 1 - Expose
    Weapon 2 - Exploit

Weapon 1 - Expose - Most effective Expose weapon against the Borg would be a Blast Assualt
The Borg still obey the laws of physics so kinetic attacks work just fine against them.

Bonus points if you make this weapon look like the Isomagnetic Disintegrator

Weapon 2 - Exploit - Current Phaser Sniper Rifle

Although I STRONGLY support changing the model to being a MACO Rifle

Making a little sight pop up looks way more classy and actually is a part of Star Trek. The current version is an overly animated toy.

Even more bonus points if you make this rifle shoot through walls as an Endgame TR-116 rifle that has been repeatedly asked for.

I wholeheartedly agree. Weapons design in this game strays way too far from canon. I was very interested in this gun based on the stats (I like sniper rifles) until I saw those screenshots. Now I couldn't care less about it.
