I have a few questions regarding this server, the biggest question of mine is: When F2P comes out, can I copy my Tribble toon to the live server? I recently found it in me to get my main character up to Rear Admiral, the one I've been playing off and on since launch. I would hate to have put in all the work just to have it all undone when F2P launches, perhaps a copy system similar to the one in place now except backwards? Thats the my main concern for the moment, and I have a lingering feeling in the back of my mind that I will be told tough luck do it again. My other question is of a some what more immediate and less critical concern, if I purchase Cryptic Points will they apply to Tribble? Anyway, just a two questions, hopefully they won't be too difficult(or in the case of the first, upsetting) to answer.
You will not be able to transfer any characters from Tribble to Holodeck.
If you purchase new Cryptic Points, an equal number of Test Points will be added to your account on Tribble.
Is there any specific reason as to why a character on Tribble can not be transferred to Holodeck upon it's upgrade to F2P? Not that Cryptic cares, but this may be a deal breaker to me, if I can't transfer a character that I've put a lot of work in over to the main server I may just stop playing.

This is actually fairly common in the MMO world. Test characters tend to end up being a mess due to the constant changes that effect them, not all of which make it to live servers. Transfering live characters to a training environment is fairly easy, since the training servers usually have a foundation of the live servers build. However to do it otherwise would potentially introduce components of builds that never made it to live, adding greater potential for bugs to crop up.

Right and I get that, but given that Cryptic seems to have the ability to reset talent points and other things(removing quests that are out-dated or don't exist etc...) I just don't see why they can't implement what would essentially be a system of upgrading or in the case of there being content that didn't make it to the Live server, downgrading to allow characters to be transferred back and forth. I realize that time constraints and other such things might make such a system never come to fruition, and also given Cryptics long list of things they already have to work on. However, unlike many who play MMO's(and forgive me if I've gotten this wrong) I do not enjoy the leveling process I find it tedious and boring which is why it's taken me over a year to get to this point.
But, no MMO has ever imported Beta or test characters to a live server because people may have gotten their levels through exploits, test server enabled advanced leveling speed, whatever.
I don't want to seem mean, but anybody who sees their beta server characters (for this game that would be Tribble and Redshirt) as anything other than testbeds to report bugs or other issues with new tech, and which can be wiped at any moment for any reason, probably shouldn't be on a test server.
No MMO I have ever played has allowed chars on a test shard onto live. It brings with it to many problems. The code has been changed on the test chars a dozen or more times now and could bring with it any number of bugs or problems if moved to live. Plus what would they do with all they stuff we bought with the test points on the tribble Cstore they couldn't transfer it since we bought it with test points and someone on live bought it with real cash.
If not having your tribble char transfered to holodeck after testing is a game breaker for you then you might as well stop playing now because it is not going to happen.
So basically what I'm being told by everyone, is that I will never see my character from the test server go onto the live one because of "technical problems that can't be undone" or because "levels could have been gained through bugs or other such loopholes" and that all of the work I have put into the character is meaningless and that when F2P goes live and the test server is more than likely wiped I will be told "Tough **** do it again" and you are all saying the exact same thing and even going further and just telling me not to play anymore.

Well no. Actually I think what you're missing is the purpose behind Test Servers in general, and Tribble specifically. especially when you say all the work you're doing is meaningless.
You PAY to play on the live server. There, if they did a character wipe I'd understand your pain and agree with you. You were INVITED to Tribble to assist the devs in helping them improve a patch, in this case ftp, before it went live and screwed with the characters that did matter.
I don't remember the devs ever holding a disruptor to your characters head on live telling you if you didn't play on Tribble they'd pull the trigger. I don't remember you having to assist the devs at all on Tribble. In fact, the devs have been gracious in giving us rewards for assisting them on Tribble.
But if you feel that Tribble isn't worth your time, and is in fact a waste of it, go back to Holodeck, and don't come back to Tribble. Easily fixed.

And you're missing the point of I don't want to spend the hours it took to go from Captain to Admiral again, for me it's not about if the servers merely for testing or not, it's simply about I don't want to go through the leveling process again. I don't understand why I can't transfer it when F2P goes live, I don't care if I lose all my items energy credits ect. I just don't want to do the leveling again.

Then don't, Don't level on Tribble at all, and level only on Holodeck. Problem solved, and you won't even loose your energy credits!
Problem is I already have, I've worked for over ten levels, spent two solid days playing to get to the point where I'm at now, my live character isn't even close to my test character in level.
And you missing the entire point of a test server it is not to play the live game it is to test out new features and help the devs find bugs they missed or didn't account for. If you want to lvl you char then play on holodeck.
Thats the thing about testing, were there to find...issues. SOmetimes its gamebreaking, sometimes its an expoilt, sometimes its...hey this broke agian. In otherwords were there to make sure stuff does get put on live that is broke to begian with.
YEs its time comsuiming, it can be annoying, but you get a headstart on any big changes. Ive always said the faster to start on something the faster it gets done.
