Anyone else finding the linear mission progression a drag?

Maybe it's 'cause I've played through all these missions before but I just can't find any enthusiasm to go through the linear progression of the missions now - I far preferred the old system - so much so that I've hit VA on Tribble without even getting through the Romulan missions. I've gotten all my XP through the DOFF system and the Traelus/Alhena/Sh'mir missions (*yawn*).

It just doesn't seem as fun as it used to :/

    Everyone does.

    This is a known fact.

The hope is, that this is just a Tribble deal for the sake of testing.
If they were to push this to Holodeck, many voices would cry out, and not in the good way!

Showing it was a good idea. Making it restrictive was not.

The linear progression isn't the same on both sides, With Fed you can make VA by the time you get to Beta Ursae and the Cardassian missions, more often then not, levelling up each time you play a story mission, and if not, pop in a quick patrol and you'll do it..

With KDF you more often then not have to grind replaying old missions (esp when you get to Brig General) and theres really nothing to fill in the spaces. Ironically not much different to Holodeck really.

I do like the idea of linear progression, however the stories are just scattered, don't really follow a path and with the exception of the featured episodes, don't lead on to each other and are, well, random.

It's a good concept in theory, but needs some refining in practice to improve on it...

Most everyone hates it. They've been given idea after idea, suggestion after suggestion on how to fix it, what we'd like to see ... blah blah. No responses from them on it as if yet. It's annoying, we'd like SOME feed back on our feedback. It'd be nice.

I think the biggest problem is that they've upped the minimum level requirements for a bunch of the missions. So I'm levelling up really fast...but every time I do one of the Romulan missions I have to go do something else for a while until I level up again. It's really stupid...like everything on Tribble, except for the Doff system.

    That's how I feel.

The new interface is fantastic, I feel like I am in front of my DVD shelf, about about to choose what movie to watch next, and it also makes it clear what order the story goes in.

But to restrict us to that.

    No!

I like the idea of it, but I think it needs some adjustments.

And I can't find an 'Official' thread for it, though I think it could have gotten lost in all the other 'issues' that have come up.

The way I see it: the Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Borg/Undine missions are each their own series in the over all story line. So I think as soon as you get out of the tutorial, you should get access to the starting mission for the Klingon, Romulan, and Cardassian missions. You'll still have to play the episodes in order, but at least you can choose which series to do first. Also, once you reach lvl 40 (RA) you get access to the transwarp gate and the Borg/Undine missions.

I Agree, It makes you feel like your Playing a Console game rather then an MMO.
