My thoughts on how to easily change crafting

I was sitting on tribble today working through doff missions while i was watching the live broadcast of Stoked. They were having their discussion on crafting, and I was waiting on some of the Crafting Doff Missions, for a shield and a deployable turret. This gave me an idea.

Lets do a somewhat simple revamp of crafting. First scrap the use of dilithium in it. If you must branch in another mechanic make it from the doff system. Which makes allot of sense in trek, you see his crew making modifications, to ships and weapons, but you never see the captain do it. I would also suggest throwing in a few commodities on most of the purple items to craft.

So for example I am wanting to make a new shield array for my ship the requirements could be, shield schematic, shield generator commodities, anomalies, and engineering or a shield officer doff. To add some bonuses depends on which type of engineering officer you use. Or the bonus could be dependent on the amount of time you give the doff to make the item, shorter times, mean more likely to be created, but less useful in buffs, the longer the time, the higher the risk but the better the bonus.

    Stormy pretty much implied "tough" when talking about crafting. Therefore, I do not see any changes for the better.
