Troubles with Tribbles...in the Cstore

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
So, I bought the Tribble of Borg in the Cstore and now it doesn't appear in the cstore, nor inventory of my other characters on tribble.
I also notice the wording of the transaction details have changed: It now says it's a "single item unlock"
does that mean once one character buys it no others can?
because it sure doesn't work that way on Holodeck.

Just answering this question as the rest I can't help you with --

"single item unlock" means you can only unlock it once per character.

Well, that's what I would assume also, but since after buying it with one character none of my others can even see it in the cstore, much less claim it, I wondered...

Did you look all the way down in the Special Unlocks tab? Some items seem to move from one tab to this one after a purchase. Or Cryptic changed them from account to character to further "enhance" our gaming experience and make us even more excited, I don't know.

Edit: OK just read the description in the Tribble C-Store. Tribbles are now a single purchase like the Caitian and Aenar BOffs. They got bumped up in price and you can only claim it once, now isn't that wonderful and makes you enjoy the game even more?

Edit 2: Same for all the non-combat pets. Buy 1, get 1, buy another 1 for the next character. If this will be the same for already unlocked C-Store pets and tribbles and I can only claim them one more time each my enjoyment of this game will probably be so high, that I can't play and buy any longer and have to quit.

I also notice that when you buy the Tribble, they are no longer bound to you until you equip them, so you can post them to the exchange. I tested this by posting the Tribble of Borg in the exchange, then taking it back down.
That also means they're no longer unique and you can own more than one.
So by making them this way they're hoping some will buy a bunch to sell on the exchange for ridiculous prices.
Exchanging RL money for virtual money....sad thing is, many will like that idea.

It works for the Caitian and Aenar BOffs. You usually can get them for around 400k each. I don't have a problem with C-Store stuff being tradable via the exchange so I can get it without paying C-Points, but there is uncertainty about what happens to our already purchased stuff. And changing a product after some time in such a way is at least questionable.

Personally I hope that they do not go in this direction. Ive purchased many items in the C-Store that are account bound. I do not tend to purchase items that are character bound, with the exception of the Aenar and Caitian Officers. If I accidentally delete the shuttle that I traveled to the only Del Taco in Florida ( there's 3 now) 40 miles, I'm not going to be very happy.

I am almost 99% sure they cant legally change the terms of sale on items that have been paid for already. like if you buy a ship and you bought under the terms of account wide, even if they change it for future purchases they cant remove the account wide for those who have bought it in past.

There are laws, at least in the USA that make it illegal to alter the terms of previous sales, and it would be a really bad move PR wise, so while they may be stealth nerfing the C-store for F2P, your items on live should be safe from changes, they'd most likely just affect future sales.

That being said if they start doing this to more items, it'd really be a new low. Part of the Value of C-store items is you can use them on every character on the account for the most part, if that changes, I know I will never buy a item from the c-store again as will many others no doubt.

huh, I dont like this at all. Really hope this is a mistake.

Cryptic really needs to get someone paroling the forums and putting out fires like this with some answers. There are at least 4 issues I can think of right now that people are wondering about, and are getting angry about, because there is no one talking to us. And I know, we have Stormshade, but he is more like a police man then an answer man.
