These missions need to yield dilithium
As they do not scale its the only way to get people to do them, and lets face it they are certainly a time sink worthy of dilithium if exploration is as well.
Also these missions are not repeatable so it won't be an exploit.
It might make me want to patrol every sector for something worthwhile
