We tried and tried, but those Nanite Spheres are just too tough and they get replaced way to fast. I died like 20 times and had to use all of my repair items to patch my ship back together. It was crazy.
I understand that its suppose to be tough, but when you have 5 ships with a few spheres and you can't get anywhere there is something wrong.
It almost feels like you need 4 ships to keep the spheres busy or away from the transformer so that the 5 ship can destroy it.
yup. way over scaled. I think it might be scaled for MK XII items right now. We were to the point that the spheres were at the spawn point and you could not even respawn and move before they killed you. There has to be some balance between normal and elite, where it is a challenge, but doable.
Ya know, I did this day it released with a pug group and even though we felt like a train ran through us it IS doable. At some point it just became shear determination, me shouting a few (what I thought were common sense) orders out in team chat, and shear stubborness. The transformers are easy If you have at least 3 escorts. 2 on the incoming nanite spheres and one on the gate. a sci helps and can take the place of one of the escorts or augment them and normally I'd say a cruser for a tank but no tank can withstand more then 3 hits from what we got ripped apart by. my suggestion is another science ship.
Everyone focus on the top cubes first, followed by killing a nanite generator, kill its spawn, rinse, repeat. for the main generator clean up the mess as quick as possible. focus on nanite anything first. ignore regular spheres and just try to tank if you can (its not hard i was tanking them in my defiant) focus everything on the main transformer while your two escorts engage anything with nanite in the name. close to their spawn. Gravity well works wonders here. rince repeat. dhoot up the tac cube, do lots of kamakazi runs on it if you have little or no tank, and just keep shooting it. same for the gate.
Multiple Gravity wells with multiple aftershocks rips them up.
Guards should be set for scatter volly and torp spread
Everyone should have as much tank as possible.. things with +damage res work well.
Thanks for the feedback moonwind - at least yours was nice and educational. I have the aegis set on my defiant retro. One sphere I was ok with, even two. But 3 or more and I had no chance. Perhaps the group i was with was not trying. Also noticed that we only had a team of 3, which in normal mode is not a problem.
First borg cube no issue, the second and third no issue, it was the nanite spheres. I'll give it another goal tonight. I have no tanking skills so thats probably hurting me on this mission.

You left out the best part of this epic victory: Item acquired: 2 Common Borg Salvage
Seriously? Thaat's *it*?! Nope, sorry, not worth doing again unless the prototype salvage is awarded to each member of the team. The normal run gives rare as a reward.
Are you serious? You actually think you're getting prototype salvage on every run?
Ah. Ahahahahah. HAHAHHHAAAH.
That's a good one. You had me going there for a minute.
I said in other post, all need do is reduce spawn rate on regular sphere's, and seriously reduce damage from reg sphere and tac cube, one volley from tac cube is anough damage to kill a maxed out cruiser 3 times that from one shot. But don't weaken the ships there stRength is fine, just some runs spheres spawn to frequent that there like six ontop each other, and move tac cube so it ain't spawn camping, maybe make nanite generators a little stronger.
Forgot from 5 runs 2 win's other three entire team left aft first generator, there is no loot except the grab bag at end, right down about hour half, once properly tuned should be an hours work, we need more than 2 edc and maybe some other loot in our bag.
We did infected space on elite, only got 1 borg salvage and a uncommon mk xi direct energy console.
Tactical cube at end is just crazy, with full buffs on stil get killed with 1 shot.
There is no in between with this lot,it's ether a little bit too easy or impossibly hard.they seem to think if people moan that it's easy they need to make it as hard as possible( what's the problem with just upping the difficulty a few notches,a little at a time until they get the balance right)
i like the new STF'S, but the Oneshot torpedo spreads of the cube and gate is just insane. it ends up as an "respawning firing off everything u have then die and do it all over till everything is dead". Even if the group does an excellent focus fire, one or two are allways going to die. At one point during the mission i thought it was useless to regenerte my shields, they were melted away by a single sphere in less then 3 seconds, and iam not talking about shield neutralizer.
So my suggestion would be to take out 1 nanite sphere of each spawn and reduce the energy weapon dmg of all borg
I sure hope some devs are going to read this thread, because right now those elite missions are not playable and far from enjoable. Still needs a lot of tuning, and iam not talking about fine tuning.
PS: Loot is rediculous, not even worth mentioning in the post. Makes me feel like i wasted an hour of my life each time i do a stf
Played last night with an awesome team. Probably took us like an hour and half to finish it. It was epic, its doable but people need to know what they are doing. You need a few tanks and burst DPS in escorts.
The optional reward is a bit stupid. It times out so fast.
The drops are not worth it. In the time it took us I could have done it in normal 5 times and have gotten way more drops.
If you are going to make that hard give me more drops. What I mean is that when you do this in normal mode you get salvage drops through the entire mission not just at the end. In elite we didnt get anything till the end - got 2 green salvage
Again not worth it.
To the team that played with me - thanks for the heals and support you guys did awesome.

I don't dare try ground in elite
Good for you; glad to hear it. So...You've beaten it then?
Nice work. grats!
