I've been trying to sort out the damn launcher problem recently, having able to play before I suddenly found I was unable to load the launcher, let alone the game.
I submitted a technical support ticket, only to be what felt like fobbed off with answer and excuses. Is this what Cryptic call support!?

Hi there,
I have had no issues pplaying the game before, but now I am unable to load the launcher and I get an error which says: 'The Patchclient got a message while it was in a state with no response function'.
I see nothing on the forums from you about this issue and frankly I am worried. I was considering activating my subscription again but not if Cryptic don't support their customers properly.
Can you give me a solution to my problem please? There seems to be lots of posts about NEW content, but it's useless if we can't use it!!

NO no, you don't understand. I am not able to login AT ALL. I don't even see the launcher at all. Please don't fob me off with excuses, I know how the process works and the game has stopped working.
Please guide me on how to actually LOAD the launcher without the error I get above.

Fortunately, the maintenance yesterday seemed to fix my problem and the launcher loads correctly (as it used to). I've not had fantastic experience with Cryptic support so far, so let this be a warning to you CRYPTIC!!!

Wait... there is SUPPORT?
I've been able to play normally for 1 and a half year and now this. Really sad...
If this is the serviced offered with a subscription, imagine how its going to be on F2P...

I am not technical support but it sounds like you just need to uninstall and reinstall it , but thats just a guess
Thanks Merzan! You're actually the first one in the forums to respond to my problem.
But unfortnatley I've already tried this. It's one of the many things that Cryptic support has suggested. I've also tried alternate DNS and using another launcher version downloaded from that thread I've mentioned.
It's really sad, because I actually enjoyed this game...

Have a read through the thread as there seems to be fixes available but varying degrees of success depending on where you installed from.
Post number 162 would be a good place to start though. Download the STO client file that the guy has put up on mediafire and replace your current one with that. If that don't work have a trawl through the other posts to see if there's a better solution.

Franky, it could be anything, even a virus or whatever that screwed around with your settings/configuration.
So you can blame Cryptic not for being helpful, and I agree they should give SOME level of support, but these problems can mean ANYthing. They can give u the standard explanation of what steps you could take to possibly redeem the problem, which none of them will probably help anyway.
You cant expect Cryptic to go over every possibility in your system (Or with every single person which has any form of problem for that matter) to analyze and repair the possible error..?
Frankly, they dont even have time for it.
Thanks Heneo! I'm reading this thread very carfully, haven't found any solution yet... But I'm gathering some good information about this issue.
Actually I confirmed that I/m not one of the few, but one of the many who are having the exact same problem, and that it started exactly on the same date for everyone! Quite a coincidence huh? Obviosly it is something that was changed on cryptic servers.
Marctraider, I don't expect them to go all over my system, because I've already done that my self. I just expected them to recognize it's their fault that this problem started for a lot of people after one of their maintance, and to solve it on their end, not mine. I agree with you that there might be some inconsistency on my computer, and I'm looking for it day after day. But I can't get into the servers and resolve the mess they've made.
