I know, tacky thread title. I have been offline for over a year and was super excited to hear about all the new changes to a game I realy wanted more from , so maybe I'm beating an old bush here. All the changes I have experienced on the test server are great! No realy, I agree with cost of gear, missions, dailies... all of it.. except one small thing. You only have a limited variety of ways to earn dilithium in game, so I'm wondering if there will be an option to sell items on the ah for dilithium? Oh yes, before I forget, what is the point of having to refine ore? That seems to be a pointless thing alltogether, unless there was a chance for a critical success. Also, skill points.. it seems to me that they are very tight as is, I think if you added maybe a few more for players to be a bit more versatile, we could own the ships we want without having to respec all the time, but on this point, I can go either way as I think that the current set up just forces players to be mindfull and thrifty on spending those points. Overall... I like the way it's going. I believe the game is headed in the right direction now.

I don't know if it's just for gold members or everyone, but I get free respecs at every rank i think...and as far as I know the plan is to revamp the skills so there's no spec-ing for specific ships, or so I was told. So that will probably not be a problem.
Dilithium should probably stay semi-hard to get and be used for top tier stuff, etc. And I think at least for golds, there should be no dilithium cost for crafting, or only for top tier items and only a small cost. In either event the cost should be reasonable...8,000 per day refine cap and I believe my buddy told me the Aegis set (can't remember if it's 1 part or all 3) costs about 90,000 in dilithium to make. That's unreasonable.
On to refining....I thought I was the only one questioning that...what is the point? Simply to limit us to earning 8,000 per day I assume. But what I don't get is 1 ore equals 1 refined....when do you ever refine something and end up with the same amount? You don't mine diamonds and cut them down for jewelery and end up with the same size diamond do you? It's always smaller. So up the ore rewards and make it something like 10 ore = 8 refined or something like that.
well i like what you both are saying and for gold members it would be a good thing...but point is will Cryptic care enough to do it?
I mean honestly we should get our VA token back, do what you say about the dilithium issue and honesty reduce the prices of the ships. I went to live server and noticed a T-5 galaxy was 1200 cp and here its 1600cp.
most ships on live are 1200 one is 2000 but the point here is that they tell us they will be reducing prices in cstore and so far i see increasing prices.....I am not sure this new STO will be worth it in the long run if all they want is for us to Pay to win and grind for dilthium and do not forget they also messed up our exploration missions..............
