first off; Didn't get the Console!

    Second, the described console is not a sufficient replacement for the existing ship's powers;
    a) The anemic power boost does not justifiy the loss of a console slot
    b) The current Holodeck ship has full access to 9 sectors. If anything, more options should be added to reflect the additional sectors opened since the ship was introduced. Existing options should not be removed, and should not require two combat-console slots
    c) Non-Combat Transwarping ability should not take up a Combat-affecting Console slot without a comparable Combat-affecting ability/boost as other Premium ships.

I didn't get the console either, but I got the T3 console and put that one on the T5, and its giving me the full options that the ship used to have. Not quite sure what's going on with that, but whatever.

...I think we can safely assume that's some manner of bug, given the patch notes explictly saying T3 would have the same 3 options as on the Holodeck, and T5 would not. Though no one from Cryptic has commented on the issue at all, including people just flat out not getting the Console.

We can only give feedback on what they tell us, and what they give us.

I don't think the power boost would be an awful trade for the console slot, if we could actually get it. The 2 science consoles on an excelsior don't do a heck of a lot, so dropping a console for an across-the-board power boost in there wouldn't be awful.

I do agree that the transwarp ability should not be given any consideration at all when determining the value of the console -- yes, transwarp is nice, but consoles effect the ships combat performance, so the loss to the console slot should be compensated entirely with in-combat effects.

Maybe instead of the console adding to the system performance skills (which are due to be changed anyway, and don't need to be stacked any higher than they already are for things like EPtS's resistance), the console ought to just give a flat +5 to all power levels or something similar?

The Excelcior Retrofit has been overpowered since day 1. Best in Maneuverability, best combat BO layout, and transwarp.... Seriously a console that requires a few seconds to switch out and gives the ship a slight power boost doesn't seem to be that bad of a deal.

But I paid for the ship to be that. And I'm not happy with the changes.

I'll give you the maneuverability, but the Sovereign's BOff layout is better for survivability and healing, and transwarp is irrelevant.

The Excelsior, Sovereign, and Star Cruiser are are good choices for their roles. The Excelsior is overpowered compared to a Sovereign in a pure DPS role, but the Sovereign is better in a mixed role (and with the current version of Tactical Team it rivals the Star Cruiser in a support role). Cruisers suck for pure DPS anyway; the Excelsior is a *little* better DPS than the Sovereign, but any escort is a *lot* better.

The console isn't exclusive to the Excelsior anyway -- it can be used on any cruiser. I'm very likely to try it out on a Galaxy-R since one of my pet peeves with that ship is that it's power levels are a bit low to fill the 'cruiser' role while it's separated. I use my Assault Cruiser for healing, so I'd probably use the console there too, since innately high power levels help a lot on a ship that needs to switch between high weapon, shield, and aux levels frequently.

The only thing that really matters is that the buff from the console needs to be enough to justify giving up another console without taking the transwarp into consideration. Transwarp doesn't help a bit in combat, so it's not okay for the console to be lackluster because of it.

    Agreed 100%

I also bought it months ago and don't like the changes be proposed.

How dare they take away from the transwarp ability by taking out sector blocks it can trans warp to.

If they want to make it a consol, fine, add another console slot like was done with every other ship.

Its the best fed cruiser in the game, don't wreck it.

Now, I'm under the understanding that the Excelsior maintains its ability to transwarp without a console at T-5, sans the few covred by the Tier 3 console (correct me if I'm wrong, but my friends transfered Tier 5 has transwarp but no console.) Now I can see that being worth an issue. The T-5 ship should contain all the transwarps of the Tier-3 plus its own unique locations. The Tier-3 console is one that should be able to be placed in other cruisers for convenience. If the Tier-5 should be coming with a console, it should include Sirius, Regulus, and Pi Canis.

Console slots: Tier 5 retrofits are now being updated to have 9 consoles, the Tier 5 Excelsior already had 9, I see no issue here.

So, in all honesty, aside from the console lacking the three transwarp locations, I see very little to complain about an already very advanced and powerful cruiser.

The console's combat benefit has to be comparable to other consoles; Not only for pure ingame balance, but for the fact that we have to pay real money to obtain them. The Transwarp is a convenience feature, and nifty, but of zero relevance in combat, and in no way should be a substitute for combat efficiency or ability. If the Transwarp console is adjusted to give a comparable benefit as other consoles do, neat.

And, like has been said, the Transwarp destinations need to be expanded if anything, not reduced. You don't sell someone a car, then come back in a year and steal a tire off it.
