Did we Ruin Heretic's Social Life?

So there is no question that a lot of folks have made Heretic their favorite dev when it has come to this new Tribble F2P build. There are countless threads remarking on how people feel cryptic has been representing their customer service on these boards and in brackets somewhere in the post you'll probably find a: "(with the exception of Heretic of course, bro's got our back)". I'm just wondering what kind of effect that has been having on his work relationships and social life?

I mean, he has been giving us a lot, and asking for a lot, of feedback with the Doff system but it could just be the best way he's got to test, tweek, and construct this completely new feature. I doubt he's working on it alone, that'd be a lot of work for a mortal man (but he could be in fact an immortal god and then the argument is moot). It isn't like no one else on the dev team isn't around. Zero still checks on the foundry bugs, StormShade still attempting to direct chaos, even D'Angelo himself gave out some troll cred to one or two folks. It just makes sense to me that the guy on the new feature project would get more out of a lot of direct contact then someone say trying to re-work an economy in a new way that everyone with a stake in would have something to say but a lot don't have an idea of what they are talking about. And it isn't like every programmer can pop in and say what they are doing this day, or what you will get; that's how you get a bunch of people complaining about Ghostcrawler promising them a pony when all they got was a new bike instead.

Anyways, I'm digressing. Point is, I'm wondering if all this praise being heaped upon Heretic during this test has gone and ruined his work social life? Are the other dev's giving him mean looks in the hallways because he's become a vocal favorite? Can he hear his name whispered bitterly from the direction of the water-cooler? Was he given the new guy from STOked to work with just so he'd have someone to talk to in the office? Is he now forced to eat his lunch in a bathroom stall while crying to himself?

It's not that I want things to change or anything, at the very least it's fun to watch. I just want to know.

Maybe the others should take his example and do the same thing that he is doing. Talk to us, tell us why you are doing X, ask us before implementing something as radical as a Dilithium tax... But most of all just tell us the truth. It would also be nice if they see there is a major concern with the subscribers to give them some information, not wait over a week to respond to 1000 different post asking what is going on .... I think the others would do great adopting an attitude like this and like Heretic does. Treat us like humans....

The key to this is constant communication with the players. You see Heretic a lot replying to threads which is, in a sense, a piece of security for folks who believe that Cryptic isn't listening to them. It's like a relationship. It won't last if no one talks to each other.

Anyways, I'm not really sure talking about a dev's personal life is legit in the tribble board.

What social life is Heretic supposed to have if he's checking in changes on sunday? I am afraid there is nothing left to ruin. :(

    I agree 100%

I think Heretic goes above and beyond what is expected of a dev, and it's great to see someone so engrossed in their job. I don't want to play guessing games with someones social life, but suffice it to say I am very grateful for the communication exchanges and I think it goes a long way to restoring faith in STO for those that might have wavered.

So, thank you Hetetic for all that you do. :)

IMO, Heretic wins community member of the month. It takes dedication to do what he has done on top of his busy schedule. He has been able to answer all of my questions about the DOFF system before I even ask them.
