For the purple doff, we need to reach 50,000 cxp in ONE field? I decided to go medical, but sadly only 1-2 medical assignments will pop up every 4-5 sectors, leaving me with gap-fillers. I reached 3000 CXP in a week of logging on, plugging in 4-9 hour ones, sometimes a day long one, logging off. At this rate it will be Christmas or past that before I reach 50,000.

In contrast, if I had transferred my Ambassador toon, I'll get a purple doff for free since I'm already max Diplo?

Can we get some light shed on this - I don't mind testing the doff system (which I think is the intended goal) and logging "hours" on tribble for DOFF only stuff is tantamount to playing any of those kongregate/facebook mafia/level games. I log on, complete my assignments, fly for an hour trying vainly to find medical assignments, give up, plug in the 4-5 science ones that give 5 exp each, log off. Wait an hour, rinse repeat.

If that is what it takes, then that is fine, but I'd like the CXP ranking to be gone, and instead maybe put a "Total CXP earned" in place of just earning ranks in one particular field. That way we can give you positive feedback on occurrences of assignment types (like for instance, WAY too many engineering assigns given versus medical on ship-board) and lack of military/colonial XP in general. Oh and don't forget medical. If there isn't a planet dying from some disease (and there are supposed to be 300+ planets in the federation amirite?) then I have no medical assignments.

Maybe make a repository database of assignments that people can access via a panel that shows the mission type and sector you need to visit to do the objective (a central repository of assignments). This takes the tediousness out of flying around for x hours looking for that elusive 20th assignment for whatever CXP you are trying to obtain.

So to recap:
1. Please change the awards based off CXP in one specific field to a more general total CXP earned.
2. Add an assignment repository or knowledge database that captains can access from their bridge to find suitable assignments.

I agree with this. I didn't understand the system completely when I started, and feel at a disadvantage now. I chose to spread my officers around to see everything instead of focusing on a single tier. It would definitely be appreciated if this were the case, especially since this has been my sole focus since I started playing Tribble.

diplo seems to be the easierst to get the required tier with, since they havent changed the DXP levels from live for the ambasador system. run diplo based explore missions while running DOFF Diplo missions and it shouldnt take too long.

It's only easier because the old Diplo way of gaining XP for it still is in the game - and as I wrote earlier, transfer an Ambassador -> Profit? Seems silly.

i havn't heard a dev response regarding transfers and the doff bonuses....i'd assume you only get them if you leveled up your diplo on tribble as opposed to transfering a character with high diplo....just make any sense in getting a reward for essentially nothing. The point was to entice people to test the system. Transfering a character is not testing the dipo system. That would be free reward for not testing the system :)

The problem with this is my transferred toon is already maxed out in diplomacy, which effectively eliminates the method I want to take to reach this level. So I'm stuck with routes that are less likely to get me to level 3 by the time this event ends.

Also, as Jentai points out, all we have is assumptions at this point. I would really like some clarity on this. Based on responses I've seen elsewhere, I've assumed the exact opposite, my transferred characters are eligible.

Can we get a Dev response on this?

would also like more random attributes...basically, should be proportional to how often they affect assignments. efficiency, in particular should be more common, prolly eidetic memory too. for both factions.

I'm at 41k medical now. I was at 30k medical a week ago. That's 10k medical in one week. So it's more than possible to level medical fast still. 1k a day is relatively easy, you just need to catch 3 rotations or so.

No. Would have to find the dev quote, but no.

The fastest way to get tier 3 is to do diplomacy, and I'm not talking diplomacy missions. As fast as I've been leveling medical, the diplomacy missions I've done casually (getting contrabands) have already placed me beyond tier 4... so that seems to be the way to go if you want a fast leveling, and you don't even have to 'cheat'.Hardest part is getting enough Diplomats/Advisors...

No. As it is is fine imo. The way it is, people most definitely focus on one branch (most often medical/diplomacy, but not always), and 'test' it out fully. Putting a generic limit will just have people try to find the highest payout of CXPs, and just run those, and not really test much else.

Eh, kind of would be ok with this, but then again, part of me likes flying around, looking for what's out their... having the above seems to take something away from the current system.

I honestly doubt it, because there are also rewards for leveling a character to Vice Admiral - and that would be a moot reward if they would count your transferred char for any of those rewards.

This system is strange. How hard something is to get has alway been tied to the items bouns. Not for the Doff system.. You can have a very rare common. If that dose not want you to make you pull you hair out what dose. You can also have a Common Vey Rare Doff. Both are two difftent things.

Humm from F2P blog # 3 I would have to agree its not very clear if you need to level a new toon on tribble to get the doff reward or not..

"As a bonus, playing on Tribble can earn your character on Holodeck some free random Duty Officers, awarded within the three weeks after free-to-play goes live on Holodeck. Complete any Tier 1 Duty Officer commendation category accolade to receive an unique blue-quality duty officer. Complete any Tier 2 Duty Officer commendation category accolade to receive an unique purple-quality duty officer. Complete any Tier 3 Duty Officer commendation category accolade to receive a unique purple-quality duty officer with an active roster ability not attainable anywhere else in the game."

Whereas Blog # 2 was pretty specific. So I assumed all along this applied to Blog 3 and the doff reward

"As a bonus, within the three weeks following when the F2P build is live, we'll be giving out awards to your character on Holodeck based on what you accomplished on Tribble. If you get a Federation character from start to level 11, we'll give you a free 8 hour XP boost item. If you get to level 31, we'll give you a reasonably large chunk of dilithium (exactly how much depends a bit on how the economy tunes up in testing, but this will be a meaningful award). And if you get a character to level 51, we'll give you a bonus ship slot and a unique title that only the most elite Tribblers will have. This award only applies to Federation characters that freshly started on Tribble. It does not apply to characters that transfer in once we open up character transfer."
