Tricobalt Ruined

Ok so now you can use your torpedo buffs on the tricobalt. Because of this Cryptic has made it so that standard device is now weak. I was getting my original damage of 20k+ when using HY3 but when I fire it off without a buff it barely comes close to a photon torpedo. In a mission today I got 34k damage under HY3. Waited for the cool down then fired it again without a buff and it critted for only 2000!!!!!

I am sorry but tricobalts are the strongest torpedo in the game and a standard tricobalt device should at least give me a steady 10k non crit when I am spec'ed up in them as well. I'd rather have the old non-buffable tricobalt then this new weak POS. If this tricobalt setting goes live I will be replacing it with a beam bank or something. I have one HY torp buff. Im not going to waste it on a destructible heavy torp. I save that for my quantums.

Please bring back the old tricobalt or make it so that a standard device does what it says its supposed to and do 14k damage as a standard device.

    * This is amazing. The Tricobalt is suppossed to be the Big Bomb o the scence. One of the reasons why it has a 2 minute CD.

    Well they reduced that down even on the holodeck not too long ago. its only got a 1 minute cool down.

    Here is one of those things that people just tried to find something to whine about. Here was a torpedo high risk in using huge rewards if successful but it didnt respond to torpedo buffs. But it was fine the way it was. But Cryptic listened to them and so they made in buffable. now the torpedo is ruined. There is no reason for me to keep it on my ship if doesnt do 10k damage or more every shot. I have a specific strategy with using this torp and now its useless. I might as well put a beam there instead. I can do more damage that way anyways.

    I want the old one back. If you want a torp that does lots of damage and is buffable then get yourself a plasma torp. Leave the tricobalt alone.

    yeah, Tricobalts and Plasma Torps were fine the way it is. They're balanced.

    Tricobalts don't require a buff and have the highest potential burst damage but are also extremely slow, targetable/destructable and expensive to skill into.

    Plasma Torps similarly have high damage potential but require a buff. The trade-off is that Plasma Torps enjoy the advantage of leaving a nasty plasma field, causing DoT and rendering the target ship near immobile, forcing them to use HE and is much less expensive to spec into.

    If anything, these two need a buff. I'm fine with them being targetable and player killable but I think they should at least be immune to PSW, FBP, GW and maybe even EWP.
