When testing DOFF packs today i have seen something odd: I have received two Caitlan scientists (both of rare quality). Perhaps it's just a coincidence, but their only attribute was "agressive".
Agressive DOOFs are certainly useful for certain types of assignments, but in my opinion more diversity regarding DOFF attributes will not harm.
We are working on increasing trait distribution while still making each species feel appropriate for its traits. The process of doing this, however, is extremely time intensive, so we are doing it in stages.
Currently, only humans and Klingons have variant trait sets; the next wave will have variant sets for Andorians, Vulcans, Tellarites, Ferengi, Orions, Nausicaans, Gorn and Letheans.
I thought there would be some sort o automaic randomizer... ?
Yes and no. There are special files that define sets of duty officers, at which point there are scripts that run through all the permutations. Each set of duty officers (basically, each faction + gender + species + branch combination) is a separate handbuilt file, out of which is generated several hundred duty officers.
