Bellerophon Console Worthless

I was all thrilled about a Torp upgrade, since my main flies a torpedo boat (which also happens to be a science vessel). So I bought the Bellerophon with a vast majority of my test points and slotted the console. Went into 1v1 combat to try it out. Nothing.

According to the console itself, it causes a photonic shockwave at detonation (which I admit that I'm not too familiar with, I don't use that power) But it says AoE Damage, Repel, and Disable.

From my testing, it did standard damage. Didn't repel at all. Didn't disable any systems either.

This console (not surprisingly) also activated the cooldowns on HYT and Torp Spread.

I also noticed a buff icon (like Attack Pattern Alpha) above my ship icon that stayed in place, but it appeared to only buff one shot. Weird.

At this point, I genuinely see no benefit to the console at all. If someone wants to shed some light on this, I'd be greatly appreciative.


Quick nitpicky things. The flavor text has some misspellings. Should be Nadion, not Nadeon. And it's the USS Voyager not Voyger

    They should make it work with quantum torps as well or all torps.

    It should just be called "Shockwave Torp". It makes little sense to limit it to just photons as there are 5 types of torp in game...

    Yeah, I get the roleplay of it only working with photon torpedoes, but gameplay wise, it's really limiting :<

    easy solution, put in 1 Photon Torp. When you want to use the console, fire that one specifically. Done.

    What if we arnt spec'd into photons and don't want to use photons?

    Not so easy solution for me. I have my torps set to auto-fire as a torpedo boat, and as mentioned above I'm not specced into photons.

    Why autofire? I'm not the DPS guy, I'm the support guy, so I want my torps firing whenever I'm in the arc. Why transphasics? I'm not the shield stripper either, so I'm frequently hitting people with shields up.

    So... console worthless, for me. (But hey, thanks to Tribble I just saved some C-Points on Holodeck instead of wasting them on the console)

    I might try swapping out some Photorps on Tribble just to see.

    Additonally (without seeing the effect), but a 2 minute cooldown is a little extreme for a Torpedo Buff

    I agree but I was thinking: it is called PHOTON-ic shockwave torpedo, can only use with PHOTON torpedo? Is Cryptic trying to tell us the a PHOTON is only capable of performing a shockwave?
