Just been reading up on a few things from unreliable sources from the depths of Cyberspace. It seems there are going to be further requirements in the use of Dilithium.

Everytime you fire a turret or cannon now requires to spend 1 refined Dilithium.
Every Beam fired now requires to spend 3 Refined Dilithium
Every Torpedo Fired or Mine released, now requires to spend 5 Refined Dilithium.
Everytime you take damage, you will automatically spend 1 Refined Dilithium

[Exchange/Bank/Inventory]
For each Bank Slot you have filled, you will be required to pay 10 Refined Dilithium per hour
For each Inventory slot you have filled, you will be required to pay 6 Refined Dilithium per hour
Everytime you go to access the exchange, you will automatically give up 100 Refined Dilithium.
Each game item interaction other that the exchange requires 30 Refined Dilithium.
Whenever two players are linked through a trade window, both players pay a fee of 50 Refined Dilithium.
Whenever you access your mail, you will be required to pay 30 Refined Dilithium.

I figured you were kidding, but for a second I thought some of that might be true with how things are heading with the game.

Indeed, thought it's a steam release, but it's also a point made to cryptic. This game is not f2p, and never will be. They're over bearing on the players with indications to buy cryptic points.

Brilliant. Absolutly brilliant, also probably not far from the truth.

You forgot the dilithium charges for using dance emotes (or any emote for that matter) and for walking around on ESD. Got any idea how many cleaning bots work on the background to clean the carpets of our muddy footprints after saving yet another planet? Well somebody gotta pay them with dilithium. ;)

On a serious note, I do think it's getting out of hand, especially when it comes to crafting. If we could at least trade refined dilithium among each other it'd make life a lot easier already.

trading dilithium would up the refined dilithium limit to ateast 48k per account (6 characters each refining 8k) Which is alot.

A better method is since the items are not bound, you can trade those items over from other character. Right now on Holodeck I'm grabbing all Pre-STF Best in slot items for my science healer and engineer tank.

I'm a theorycrafter, and I've created setups for the Escort MVAM to being the best DPS boat in the game with skills, doffs, boffs and so on. Unfortunately, there is no datamine or theorycraft website for STO so this cannot be done with deep testing.

Back to dilithium, the limits on dilithium gear I can live with, but not crafting. If they want to fix the energy credits issue, they should consider adding a crafting fee per item that costs Energy Credits.

I think they should just get rid of dilithium and just use gold pressed latinum, because it's clear who is working behind the scenes planning the economy.

Energy credits would make a lot more sense yeah. It's also a tradeable currency, so it wouldn't kill community crafting either.

Off topic; you might wanna change your signature. The restriction is 500 x 150 pixels and you'll earn yourself a restriction point if Cryptic decides to moderate it for you. (There is a global sticky on top of all the forums that explains the signature limits better.)

For what it's worth, I've seen a lot of oversized signatures. So, it doesn't seem like it's that strictly enforced.

Going off topic atm, but I've also seen a lot of infriction points being handed out and Cryptic banning signatures. I figured it'd be fair to warn him of it, once a player gets reported for his signature they do react to it.

Let me start with my belief that requiring dilithium for crafting is idiotic and will only discourage new players from attempting it. Now let's get into the why of that.
Assuming you are a good little drone and do all the story missions (another bad idea, taking away the freedom of choice in how we level, but that's another rant) you will unlock the breen missions not long before/ after you hit VA. Now these missions provide you with the cluster torpedo, shields, deflector, and engine. All free of dilithium. But so what? You still need ship weapons, personal shields, and ground weapons. That is correct. Now enter the devidian series with its purple personal shields and blue ship and ground weapons.
Armed with these less than stellar but good enough weapons and equipment you can now start grinding the STFs for the Borg gear, which is also free of dilithium last I checked. So please, explain to me why I would ever spend my dilithium to craft?
Logic dictates that the dilithium cost be removed from crafting and, if necessary, a different gating mechanic put in place.

If they really go with what the OP said (even lightly) then I don't think I can play STO anymore. Kinda sucks, since I really like the game too :(
