This crafting update ACTUALLY makes crafting things useful now. Before, the only thing worth crafting was the Aegis Set.
However, now you can actually craft things and make them the same quality high end gear that you would purchase for dilithium from the vendors. Except now you can grind things like anomalies and pay a lower dilithium price to aquire basically the same items you can get from vendors.
This opens up an entirely new avenue for the global economy and now people will be able to make money and dilithium off of others. Basically this is how it should be.. you can get things except for the absolute high end gear from other players instead of having to grind dilithium to always just buy from NPCS. MMOs are all about community and options... This kills two birds with one stone by opening up another route to get items rather than grinding it out. (You can now buy from players for prices that will be lower than the vendors) And it also brings the community closer together and begins to establish an economy that is otherwise lacking.
At present on holodeck you can craft a lot of decent equipment, including Mk XI Very Rare weapons.
This changes nothing on that front except that we are not forced to PAY with dilithium to Craft.
The Crafting system is essentially turned into just another store rather than making stuff from resources.
In addition since dilithium is a non-transferrable currency, it now "forces" all crafters to grind dilithium in order to craft decent stuff.
Which is a killing blow for crafting equipment for friends and fleetmates.
Plus the fact that crafting gear will always have inferior modifiers than the ones your purchase at full price for dilithium.
Essentially they are turning the entire game into nothing but a dilithium grindfest.

You can? all i see on tribble is the same junk we can craft now (aside from consoles). ALL the mk xi gear has dmgx2 mods on it, which is the worst modifier you can get. A Mk x accx1 item is better.

Now you have a huge point with the part where you said dilithium is a non tradeable resource. In some way that needs to change. Dilithium absolutely needs to be able to be traded or given to other players like gold does or an other resource in any other game. Also players need to be able to sell their items they create for dilithium on the exchange.
In the light of that knowledge. Yes I agree this system will be broken unless that change is made.

I was going off the quotes made by the new Man in charge on the front page blog.

don't forget that you can buy dilithium for Cstore points . .. . . turning the entire game into a pay to win scenario.
