Let me start by saying that I love Star Trek online more than any other game. I have been here since beta and am currently a lifetime subscriber. With that being said, I would like to offer some constructive critisim. I had been informed (or perhaps misinformed) that F2P would bring a revamped and more helpful tutorial to STO. Upon playing and starting a new character, however, I found this to be inaccurate. While I will admit that some (minor) changes have been made to the tutorial, I would like to argue that it is far from a revamp. The tutorial system is simply not good enough for the massive influx of people that will be coming to the game upon the completion of F2P. The learning curve in STO is extremely steep with the turtorial doing very little to help with this problem. There is simply far too much content in STO that is not covered in the tutorial. For example, it doesn't tell you how to personalize your ship on the outside or the inside. It also doesn't talk about the exchange or your bank. Now, I know that it has a new help or tooltip popup system that gives you some info about stuff as you play. However, for some players this simply won't be enough. Its not a replacement for a tutorial that forces you to learn how and why to use these new features. I've even had friends that didn't know you could change the name of your ship or that you could edit your costume! These sorts of things simply should not happen. I implore and even beg the staff at cyriptic to write a new turtorial completely from scratch. Modifying the one that is already in place will not solve this problem. While it is a good start it would serve better as your first mission than an actual turtorial. Please comment on this players and staff alike, as I would like to see how other people feel about this.
This is supposed to be a community.... I've had sixteen people read this and no one has an opinion? I don't care if you agree or disagree, but give me something guys!
