Don't make us return to Earth for History 102: Alpha quadrant midterm

Firstly, I like the idea of the new lore missions - History 102: Alpha Quadrant Midterm and the Klingon version Learning the Lore of the Empire.

However, I feel it is wrong to make us return to Earth / Qo'nos every day to be able to do them, can we not do them via the remote hail functionality?

In Star Trek, ships spend many months, if not years away from their home port, making us return home every day just makes the in game universe feel small (which is not something you want to be doing as its not exactly a big place to begin with). I know it doesn't actually take long in game to return to Earth but it still feels wrong to have to visit there every day, particularly with a war happening on several fronts.

I don't agree. It's practically free dilithium and skill points. It takes no real effort to do besides hitting your transwarp button.

    Don't agree.
It is an Academy mini-game. It should be at the Academy.

For as pretty as the Academy is, it needs purpose. Keep the mini game there and (hopefully!) add more.

I agree that the academy is a really lovely map and that the devs not surprisingly want to show it off and have us go there but it should be something unique and valuable not somewhere we go every day for some free dilithium, that just devalues the place.

Think of Kirk, Picard or Sisko, we rarely if ever saw them visit Earth / SFA and if / when they did it was a special occasion, not the equivalent of a trip to the local Starbucks for a cup of dilithium! (They are giving us this valuable dilithium free for answering a simple multiple choice question, so they can't be giving us a very large quantity.)

To quote from the introduction at the start of every episode of Star Trek TOS:
These are the voyages of the star ship Enterprise, on its five year mission to explore strange new worlds, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

The Star Trek galaxy is huge, ships go on multi-month missions, sometimes not visiting a starbase in weeks or longer. We need the STO galaxy to feel bigger, instead we get the following:

A day in the life of a Star Trek STO Officer
Left my apartment on the grounds of star fleet academy 0855h, picked up a cup of dilithium and a paper on my way through the garden to the transporter pad. 0900h took my ship the USS Rat Race out of its overnight parking garage (Earth Space Dock) and set off for another day at work in outer space. 1000h Destroyed some Klingons in the neutral zone before heading over to Deep Space 9 for lunch at Quark's.

1400h Warped over to Gamma Orionis to take out a couple of Borg cubes, before heading back home to ESD in time to knock off at 1700h and head home.

Where are the epic voyages? Where is the vastness of space? By having a daily mission at Earth, it makes STO's galaxy seem as large as the car park at my local Tesco supermarket - I can cross both in a matter of minutes and regularly do.

By all means keep the History 102 mission at SFA but please make it so its not a daily, make it weekly if you must (and possibly adjust the amount of dilithium given), don't coerce us into returning to Earth every day - it just isn't done in Star Trek.

If you feel that way then how about you use some self control and don't do the mission every day instead of trying to make everyone else conform to your playstyle?

It's a game, there's no in universe reasoning required for returning there every day, you don't have to RP every single second of your playtime.

I'd be ok with a similar game being placed at starbases. Maybe more "current events" instead of history, or related to the region.

Other than that, agreed, it's a SFA game, it should be at SFA.
