I am so excited to hear that Cryptic is now guaranteeing that there will never again be any mission that bugs out and is unable to be completed! It's thrilling really! No other MMO has ever before been able to make such a claim. But with their new linear story progression, Cryptic has guaranteed that no mission will ever bug out again! They have to be guaranteeing it because if even a single mission in the chain were to bug out, THE ENTIRE STORY PROGRESSION WOULD SCREECH TO A HALT for anyone who had not already progressed beyond that mission.
OK, no, Cryptic is not guaranteeing that no mission will ever bug again. As a matter of fact, I would be more than willing to guarantee that at least one mission WILL bug out at some point in the future. This is the most compelling argument that can be presented to get rid of the strict linear game progression that Cryptic has put into place.
Such as taking me 5 minutes crawling over each inch of hobus system in sector space trying to find my way into the sector? Nope definitely no bugs anywhere.
Hobus, yes I spent 5 minutes hunting down that last Warbird because every time I attacked it, it wooshed away from me with evasive maneuvers.
Or how about flying through the entirety of the Iconia System after you've destroyed the Iconian Gate, hoping to find the Romulan forces that you have to defeat to get out of the system...you know because they are preventing your escape...I think.
What gets me is that as many times as people have pointed out the GLARING fault in the logic of stringing every story mission in the game into one long chain, we haven't been able to get a dev to comment on it.
