Question about Doff population on ship

System

When I have a full Doff population (100) and complete a crew recruitment mission for more Doffs, what happens to the Doffs if I close the mission? Does the game warn that the extra Doffs will be lost because of population cap or does it not allow the mission to be closed until space is open up on the roster. I had the situation come up yesterday and decided to do the reassignment mission to avoid any problems, but that requires a 20hr wait to add the new Doffs.

Another question is about the difference between using the Reassign Crew mission and the "Dismiss" function. I did see the warning the if you dismiss then you will not be "compensated", but what exactly is the reward for doing the reassignment mission (other than a 20hr wait)?

I haven't tried it myself but someone said the reassign mission gives you a small amt of dilithium for the doff
