DOFF System and Diplomacy tier revamp question

Ok so Heretic said in one of his forum posts that diplomacy system is going to be brought in line with the other commendation categories soon.
So my question is: if we have advanced to Diplo Tier 3 on Beta Testserver, in order to get the reward promised to us in the Doff F2P Blog post, will we still be at Commendation Tier 3 after this change or will we have to do it all over again ?
Personally i wouldnt mind loosing that Commendation category progress as long as we still get the perks for bringing it to Tier 3 regardless if that was before or after this change.
I would really appreciate a definitive answer on this subject as it took me quite some of my time on tribble getting diplo up, particularly to get those nice doffs on live later on
