The new Federation Escort Refit, Thunderchild, and Klingon Battle Cruiser, K'Tinga Class Refit, are now in full production for their respective factions. Learn more about these new ships at the C-Store.
i love both ships but there are no windows option for the klingon one, please add that as soon as poss.
and the thunderchild, the skin 6 option is only available with the thunderchild parts. i assume that is because the others dont have option 6 made for the yet, but can you at least take the option 6 away from the drop down menu when using parts that dont offer it.
also little disapointed that the new klingon ship cant be customized with either of the old k'tinga or d7. i know both of them cant be mixed and matched but i would have hoped the new ship could be customizable with at least one of them.
So you change a bunch off passives against active Powers with a Cooldown?
I don't do PvP, so yeah. The Grappler is a killer on an Advanced Escort with it's turn rate; you can lock a target in place for a few seconds to get a couple extra volleys on a down shield, and it operates on a separate cooldown from tractors IIRC. Multi-Vector is a no-brainer as well - it lasts as long as you need it and adds a ton of firepower. If they pull the Cloak from the Defiant Refit and make it a console (which is likely), that also becomes a must have for a lot of players.
The point defense guns are a toss-up, tho - I don't know that they actually help as much as adding extra damage from a weapon boost console. It's nice to have a console that shoots down seeking torps, but the recycle on them is pretty slow.
are the thunderchild costume parts interchangeable now? on red shirt they weren't, very worrying.
yes, you can mix and match the thunderchild.
klingon ship is not unfortunately, but neither was the original or the refit to begin with. maybe none of the designs matched cleanly enough up for decent customization?
No kidding huh, I am dieing for an Excelsior equivalent...if only this new ship was T5!! all my characters are VA...whats the point in selling these low level ships for real money? They become obsolete so quick.
Oh and another thing, you guys forgot to put windows on the ship!!!
K-7-T was its old Century Designation.. It fits well as the Iconic old Fleet Back Bone K-Hull Traded to the Romulans for Cloaking Tech this ship served an Empire with Vibrant House Borders and no need for a central government.
Arika was a Heavy Crusier of Merit in the old order when Ent D was young..
a glory era of Unity One Cooperation with leaders able to see a common threat .
The point defense console seems fairly useless, and a clone of the Automated Defense Battery, which is usually only worth wasting a console slot on for healers and tanks. I assume it's a universal console, which is a useful change, but if it's locked to escorts, I'm not sure how much it actually gets used.
What happened to Quad Cannons? Isn't this an obvious candidate to come with those?

the cannons are coming with the T4 defiant.
edit: beat me to it.
i dunno, the Point Defense seemed better than the defense battery to me...
Huh. Well, point defense still seems like an oddly weak and off-topic perk for a heavy escort. Maybe it's better than it seems. If it's universal and not locked to escorts . . . meh, whatever. I guess it's another oddball console to dump in an otherwise marginally used slot, which might be useful for certain builds.
it annihilates fighters and does x3 damage against frigates. you can rip through frigates 4 or 5 levels higher than you in seconds. its a very useful weapon and will become very dominant when carriers are involved.

That makes it sound like it's more of a full-on turret weapon that goes in a console slot. So that's interesting, I guess. Is it locked to escorts only?
why would there be? its a 140 year old design! it should be a tier 1 ship if anything. during the dominion war they seemed little more then light cruisers, completely inferior in combat to the very upgradeable bops.

So would this make the Akira or Heavy Escort ships viable for a VA to use in PvE?

no, only a tier 5 level of consoles, station powers and hitpoints would. just like to echo that the akira should be tier 5, in heavy cruiser terms it was second only to the soverign

I've been on the T5 bandwagon as well, and to date Cryptic has dodged the issue. Unless I missed their reasoning somewhere.

Yeap ... I like it and gave it a permanent home on my Defiant retrofit.

Same can about be said of the Excelsior...yet we have Excelsiors still in use in-game. They could rebuild these ships from scratch, or the silhouette of these ships with new technology. I would say that canon in this game has been TRIBBLE to the point where this issue just shouldnt matter anymore.

It actually deals a fairly large amount of damage. It could prove very useful in FLeet Actions and the Borg Red Alerts. There are plenty of frigates found around there, and having a straight damage extra source will probably beat the minor bonus gained by the damage buff.
In PvP, it will make short work of all types of "spam".

With the Grappler console coming, plus the Borg console, two point defenses and my Multi-Vector, escort console slots are filling up rapidly....

No, they're separate weapons.

Still, given that Raptors and NX-class ships are still about, hardly surprising to see the D4.

Quads are coming on the Defiant variant.

You know ... I would really have liked this new ship to have a T-5 counterpart. Love the console, but sad that the ship is useless to me.
