I was on Tribble early Wednesday morning, doing a few turns in Kerrat space to get some gear. As you can imagine, the Kerrat system is either scarcely populated or totally devoid of players on Tribble.
Upon returning to the system after a KDF Mirror event, I did a zone search and discovered a lone escort class Federation starship - Capt. level, sharing the zone with me. No big deal, as I am not there to PvP and one Federation vessel is no real threat, even if they decide to pursue me. It is more likely that this player is there to gather some gear just like me.
So I calmly went about my business, scanning two nodes before I noticed that the Borg hulks were now targetable, an indication that my Fed counterpart had completed scanning the required nodes. After discovering this fact, I immediately laid into as many hulks as I could find, which amounted to only one for me before I got the pop-up telling me the Fed side was victorious. So I waited for the zone to be reset, crawling at 1/4 speed while cloaked through the center of the map. That's when I noticed my comrade in arms hovering at almost dead center of the zone, moving slower than myself, and in the midst of all those Borg cubes, spheres and probes. This would normally be unremarkable, if not for the fact that I noticed none of the borg were firing at the vessel.... upon further scrutiny, this player was not using a cloaking device or MES.
Interesting
I resolved to play the role of detective after the reset - or rather what I affectionately like to refer to as "The great blind date in the sky"
We both respawned and I being cloaked, was undetected and proceeded to follow the other ship in the hopes of ascertaining the nature of this peculiarity.
Much to my surprise, not only did this Fed escort not draw any Borg aggro whatsoever, but he also did not use more than two or three Boff powers the entire time as he flew from node to node, and ultimately hulk to hulk, completing the mission in less than 4 minutes!
Fascinating.
At this point I was dumbfounded but also determined to find an answer, so I sent a /tell to this dynamic individual in the hopes of gleaning an explanation.
I was promptly ignored. Hmmm, just unsociable or was he guilty of hiding something?
This time I typed in zone chat..."Hey there! How did you do that?" still no reply
"I have never seen anyone capable of totally avoiding the Borg like that, must be nice to gather gear so easily...." I guess I never really thought I would actually get an answer.
And that's how it ended, I logged off very shortly thereafter.
Question.....was this something being tested on Tribble that I am not aware of? Perhaps I stumbled upon a Dev? But I am thinking it is something much more insidious, such as hacking, which appears to be entirely possible in STO. Now, I am far from the best pilot out there but anyone who has done enough PvP in this game has to be aware of at least a few players who have the uncanny ability to stay alive- rarely if ever do they die - whilst simulatneously delivering staggering amounts of dps, even when greatly outnumbered. But this was something totally different.
I wish I had the ability to save screenshots (I was using WeGAme for a while to do this, but I can't seem to get it to work properly anymore)
Has anyone ever seen something similar or perhaps you have any thoughts or opinions on this?
People have been farming Kerrat with glitches for a long time. The devs just haven't gotten around to totally remaking the mission to remove exploits. Because it's persistent, it's easy for a glitcher to achieve an exploit once and just stay there and cheat the mission over and over.
WOW i had no idea such exploits existed in this game. But I too have seen people do this, frustrates the hell out of me when I have 4 cubes on my TRIBBLE.
Some one farming Ker'rat.. and knowing all the fed trixies of doing it.. no surprise there.
Kinda surprised a Farmer would have spent the time to level a character on tribble just to apply his trade. Doesn't he know it's more profitable to farm infected and Cure right now? Ah well.
some folks just don't get it ya know.. awfull lot seem to think that what they see on tribble now is in some way the final version of what will goto holodeck when F2P launches.. just boggles the mind ya know.

I personally have never seen the like before.
I imagine the guy didn't really expect to have someone call him out on this in Tribble Kerrat.
Thanks
