So having some how lost my Fabrication engineer and my Developmental Las scientist I decided to buy a new pack of officers from the C-store. Well in this pack of 7 I got 3 traders. Two of them duplicate ferengi.
It was then that I noticed with this newest additon I have 6 traders in total and 5 of them are Ferengi. Everytime I log off I am left wondering if I will have a ship when I get back. I can just see them telling me it was a deal they just couldn't refuse. Of course this goes along with my 3 bartenders. So either my ship will get sold out from under me or my crew will be drunk. What a choice. Of course this is all tongue in cheeck to prove my point.
The random packs need some tighter control or coding for how truly random they are. Three traders in the this last pack two of them duplicate isn't cool when you are paying money for them. I realize right now this is testing but if I paid real world dollars and got essentially 3 of the same type I might just be a little upset.
I don't know if you can code it to prevent occurence like this but if you can I think you should.
I think something they could do to at least semi-fix the repeat DOFFs (I have two of the same advisers and 4 same astrometrics) if we could at least rename them for ourselves then I'd have 4 identical, but named different characters at least
There is a change coming down to Tribble adding a large number of variant Humans and Klingons with five new alternate trait arrangements, portraits and names for every specialization and quality.

Good, the last thing I want to buy is Ferengi in six packs.

LOL I know exactly what you are talking about as well, I have Ferengi on my ship that appear to be breeding like RATS!!
But that is not the worst of it, the worst of it is, the appear to have eaten 6 of my other Crew Members!
I woke up and I was missing 2 Tactical Officers, 2 Engineers, and 2 Civilians!!
Now, the Starfleet officers knew what they were getting into when they joined Starfleet. But the poor civilians!! Eaten by Ferengi!!! What a way to go!!!
They weren't Ferengi, but instead human, but either way, I got three of them in one pack. All human, all white, and all identical, even down to the name.

Thank goodness! Just in my initial lvl 8 starter set I had duplicate portraits. Is anyone else seeing a high number of clones in their DOFF stacks?

I imagine this is going to be one of those ongoing things. As time progresses, the devs will add more and more names, etc, to the DOff generator, so the chances of getting multiples of the same DOff will be reduced somewhat.
What I would like to see is a way to get specific DOffs. Example, I have everything I need for the 'Entertain Alien Diplomats' mission except for one type of DOff (forget which off the top of my head).
Hmm how about a DOFF mission requiring Ferengi traders that sell [decommission] an old ship you are not using for Latinum!
Think of the profit!
As illegal as this would be, I do like it. Honestly I would like if the Federation had some assignments for the less ethically restricted among us. Picard may have been almost above reproach, but Sisko and Kirk made some ethically questionable decisions, and some of the captains in the shows make them look like paragons.
The Klingons get all kinds of opportunity to do the dishonorable things some of them loved to do in the shows, after all.

Me too! They're everywhere

Four identical Orion female Entertainers in the first pack I bought for my KDF Gorn captain.

When I go to my bridge and then review my Doff duty roster I sometimes think I might be playing the wrong game.
