Restore the Merit/Honor system.

All right first off, consolidating the Merit/Honor system into Dilithium is an EXTREMELY bad idea.
And I will be breaking down here why its a bad idea and why it must remain in the game.

- Merits/Honor reflects our influence and standing with the faction, it is your ability to be able to call in favours.

- Merits/Honor are used for: Renaming Bridge Officers and Ships, Respecs, Aquiring Bridge Officers and training Bridge Officers.
It does not make any sense from a lore point of view that these services should cost "Dilithium"

- Dilithium is a "limited" resource, used to get better ships and equipment. Merits/Honor is granted by virtually every single mission in the game.
This means that Merits/Honor are inherently incompatible to be merged with a system like dilithium.

- Being Forced to spend dilithium on those things that we spend Merits on, seriously hurts and even cripples our ability to obtain better equipment or even a new ship.
It limits our freedom in the game and forces us to choose between gear and ship or BOff skills and names.

Consolidating all the badges, medals, marks and emblems makes perfect sense, but including Merits/Honor does not.
Please Cryptic, do the right thing, restore the Merit/Honor system, anything else is just wrong.

I agree with you, but they're too far down this road to turn back now. I can't see them changing this back at this point. It also appears that all the reasons you give why this actually should be rolled back are the same reasons it will not be.

Give us back the Merit and Honor system. It has its flaws, but I liked it a lot.

Personally, I think they have probably spent enough time and money on this that they would close the game before backing down that far, even if they know it is a TRIBBLE system. Corporate pride is obviously more important to them than the customer base. Thing is, if this game tanks, I don't think Cryptic would ever find another buyer and some of these idea men would never find another job. They are probably in for a penny, in for a pound at this point.

I would like to see merit and honor return as currencies for retraining, boffs, and ship renames/re-registers. Granted, I would also like to see ship plaques return.

Dilithium is under-rewarded and over-used right now.

Live I've said myself, I consider merits as a form of "intangible" currency that I spend with Starfleet (a form of good will) to help me with bridge officers and renaming and the like.
I too would like merits returned. I never considered it "confusing" so am not sure why it would get removed. It was probably the only currency that closely resembles something that would exist in the Star Trek universe.

The currencies that people complained about were the medals of X, Y, and Z Mks I-XI. Dilithium eliminating those is great.

Eliminating ship plaques and merits, however, is not so great.

Since this was never a "currency" to begin with, it's the least sensible thing to replace with something that is a currency; and the features that we spent merits on are the most crippled by converting to DL, because now you have two completely separate sets of needs draining the same pitiful, stingy currency allotment, neither of which can be filled adequately at current rates of acquisition.
