Please remove the requirement to buy a ship from promotion

I flew my tier 2 connie all the way to Captain 3 since it took that long to get enough dilitium for my commander ship. Once there I find that I can't get my captain level ship because I have to buy the commander tier ship just to finish the promotion so I can get the captain promotion. So the name of my commder level ship was the U.S.S. Dilithium Wasted. I had to fly that commader ship almost to admiral.

Please remove the buy a ship requirement from promotion so we have the option of using our meager 10k dilitium from one rank to add the next rank to get our ship if we want. It feels so wrong to buy a ship lower than your level and then be unable to buy your current ship.

On anther note, the DOFF system rocks!. Especially for those of us who spend long stretches working where we can't play at all. Now there is offline advancement that is just cool and feels good. Making dilitium a common reward instead of just on critical successes would go a long way to alleviate the grind feel currently on tribble.

What? I'm confused. I went from tier 2 to tier 4 without any problems... I couldn't buy the Akira class at commander, and grinded my way to captain and bought a tier 4 without having to buy a tier 3. Unless I'm missing something, it sounds like the changes you're requesting are the way the game already is...

He is refering to how they changed it. Now you get alot less dilithium and a discount token. The end result is you still don't have enough dilithium to but your ship. If you skip commander like we did during that first week you still have to finish the commander ship buying quest which means you MUST spend dilithium before it will even let you get a discounted Captain level ship.

This. There are already a couple of big threads about this.

Ah... I didn't know they'd changed that. That is definately stupid. I actually kind of enjoyed grinding through to Captain in my Lieutenant Commander ship, it was a fun challenge. But I would sure be PO'd if I couldn't get my Captain ship after doing that. This definately needs adressed.

I personally don't think they should bring back the free ship tokens though. I think you should still have to work for it a little bit. Even if they make the difference just 1 or 2 dailies to get enough dilithium.
