For the last day or two I have been experiencing some really bad and odd lad, this has been happening on both Tribble and Holodeck. Basically what happens is that I log in and simply can't do anything, I can look at stuff but can do anything.
When I log into a character that is in space, everything around me seems to be fine. But when I try to go to full speed my ship just sits there, I can turn and tilt all I want. If I bring up the Journal it shows nothing, on the available missions tab it says there is 'nothing available.'
I also tired logging on to a character on the ground, though I could actually move around. But if I activated any of the powers, the only thing that happened was the cool-down timer. Interestingly, I noticed that I had no shields.
Several times, when I have tired to moved my ship forward, it would be several minutes before the ship actually moved. I have had my ship just sit there and after several minutes fly forward and then stop, as I had gone to full stop several minutes earlier.
One time it did all this and then suddenly everything was ok, I went and did a mission. Got out of the mission, only to have it happen again and I even ended up getting DCed. When I logged back in I flew to the Rolor Nebula, and now I am stuck sitting in one place. Been sitting there the whole time I have been writing this.
This all is reminiscent of when you are on a map before your avatar actually arrived, at least as far as not having have had shields on the ground.
I went and Force Verified both Holodeck and Tribble, it helped a little. I also disconnected and reconnected my router, even restarted it and the computer. I can't figure out what is going on. Everything else seems to be working normally, with the exception of Vent. Apparently I have been lagging, to the point it will be several minutes before people hear be and it will take several more minutes for them to hear everything.
I have not had this problem before, just got DCed, and I can't figure out what is causing it. I may just have to uninstall and reinstall the game, though I want to hold off on that until I have tired everything else since it would take most of a day to reinstall and patch both Holodeck and Tribble.
I'm going to log back in now and see what happens, maybe someone knows what the heck is going on here.
Edit: Everything seems fine, lets see how long this last.
Edit: Just left the Rolor Nebula, and I have gone from sitting at full speed to flying at full stop.
Logged in and immediately could not go anywhere or do anything. I can't even submit a bug report, I can get the UI but I can't go any further than 'Search For.'
I exited the game, since I can't log out, to see what happens when I create a new character. Of course now it is 'unable to authenticate' me.
Some kind of response from someone at Cryptic would be much appreciated.

right now there is a 2hour maintenace so ofc you won't be able to login, but try again after its done.

I know, thought I was on Tribble when Holodeck went down. Also I was referring to the launcher, I put in my user name and password and the I can choose which server I want to go to, that is where I could not get in. And I figured it was because of the maintenance, even though I can usually get that far anyway.
But that is not the point of this thread, the point is that I am unable to play the game when I log in, Holodeck or Tribble.
Just logged in, and after getting stuck on the loading screen until I closed it all and relaunched, I was till unable to move or much else until I was kicked for being idle for 15 minutes. I'm trying to reload in now, though I seem to be stuck on a load screen again. I think I might as well just uninstall and reinstall the game, with any luck that will fix what ever is wrong.
The game is messed up for a lot of people right now. Either it is on Cryptic's end or it is something between us and the servers. Either way, ... it sucks

True enough, but I have already begun the process. I am patching at this moment, 73% currently. Even if this proves pointless, at least I will know that it is not my computer. I could check with my ISP, but since it is only STO and Vent that seem to be having issues I doubt it is them, than and I am not certain they would even understand the problem as I doubt it would be on the flow chart.
Yep, something has changed in the past few weeks. I don't know what.. but I can't even PvE often. It freezes for so long that a low level pve ship takes me out because I can't do anything.
i might have the issue. When I log the game just freezes. I cant do anything. I have to alt tab delete my way out of it. I getting more fed up with this game as weeks pass by.
I'm not sure if this is related to the same problem or not, but I have the issue on Tribble, but not on Holodeck. On Holodeck I just moved to DS9 after two hours of play without incident. But when I try to log onto Tribble, I'm stuck at the console behind Lieutenant Thelis and I can't move or press any buttons. It just keeps saying that I'm loosing the connection to the server and yet the internet connection is still running at 100%.
Last week I re-sub'd after being gone since day 29 after release. It's been a long time since I have been ingame in STO.
Overall the game has gotten much better I think, some new content, some content revamped. overall better.
However... one problem that I dealt with then is still here... terrible server-client communications. Unreliable is the word for it. STO has the worst game connection of any of the dozens of MMOs I have played over the last 10 years. I know how to set ports up and all that, done that, still far too many disconnects, frequent latency, and rubberbanding. I am getting good connection from 5 am est until 2 pm est Monday thru Friday and that's it.
Seriously, I doubt if STO will handle the extra Players when it goes F2P... imho it can't handle the Player numbers now.
As much as I am glad to be playing STO again I have to admit I now regret re-subbing. Playing any MMO with these kind of connection problems is no fun at all.

How long have you been playing since resubbing? Excluding this most recent issue, I have had no problems with the connection nor since I reinstalled. Also, the few times there has been a stability issue it has been fixed quickly.

Resub'd middle of last week and finally got patch done Thursday night if I remember right.

You are not alone.
Well, that at least suggest that it is not me but STO.

Let's not even get into PvP.....
