Free-to-play testing is off to a great start on the Tribble test server! Check out this latest Path to F2P entry for updates about Tribble and the testing awards program for participants.
Well, that was a bit underwhelming. Even so, its better than nothing, so thanks for the update. But hopefully we'll get some meatier info in the future.
Another Tribble? Whoop-de-frickin-doo. We've got the damn furballs coming out of our aft ports as it is. We don't need any more to muck up our inventories.
I do have one question that I've been continually asking with no response. Not a single "yes" or "no". That's all I'm asking. Are the rewards account-wide or not?
With a Targ pet, I'll finally have a use for all of my tribbles, and my targ will never go hungry.
seriously though, i was at the 1st year anniversary, and somehow never got a targ, and would love one. i'm sure many other players would like one as well...
On the question of whether a given award will be for one character or for each character, there is no single answer. Different kinds of awards work different ways.
For items a character can equip or use, we usually try to make the item unique so you can claim it on each character, but can have only one on that character. When we do this, we also make the item have zero sale value and make it unable to be traded to other players.
If the award is something you could buy in the C-Store, then it will normally work just as if you made a purchase.
If the award unlocks some part of the game, such as a title or access to some content, then that unlock is generally for all characters on the account.
Since we have not finalized our implementation on the various award items, I have purposefully been a little vague on this topic in the postings for each award. I would love to make many of the award items so they are fully valued and tradable, but if we do this, then the item would be claimed once by one character. A good example here might be the Duty Officer awards. By making them claimed just to one character, you can trade away ones you don't want to other players and potentially get something better for your style of play. If we make them claimed on every character, then we need to make them hard-locked to be zero value, unique, and untradable to avoid exploits. The dev team is still discussing these kinds of items and how to best have the awards work.
We're still pretty early in the test period. As we finalize the exact details for each award later in the testing, we'll post details such as stats and the rules for claiming the awards.

really appreciate the concise and honest answer. thanks.
All of the Tribble test rewards so far have been account-wide--you could claim it for each of your existing characters on Holodeck.
that's exactly why i wondered about it. like, if i get the 1 hour skill boost, do i get one for each character? what's to stop me sending them all to one character and then using them one after another? I just wanted some clarification, is all, but I can wait.

Good to hear from you, boss. As long as there are some neat rewards lurking out there still, then my complaint about continuing to charge subs for a beta is mostly quelled, since there is clearly a lot of testing to be done still to shape things up for launch.
Now if we could get some good news about some changes to the value of subscriptions and the gold matrix "balance" you're going to be off to a good start
Also some Tribble issues for your consideration: Level-progression/auto-leveling missions and difficulty for new players, Dilithium earning rates, and we're really eager to see how the C-Store will interact with the Dilithium economy.
How about:
1| A tribble doff? He could be a chef or a food replicator repair engineer.
2| The dilithium eating tribble (Tribbelus Crypticus) mysteriously your dilithium disappears when you go to buy a ship
3| A Free Tribble (in honor of F2P)-A tribble that reproduces at twice the rate of a normal tribble.
4| The bug squashing tribble-If you get a disconnect while in effect, it maxes out your EC account.
5| The Gold Tribble-It is a tribble that eats your food and your gear and it wants more
6| The Silver Tribble-it sits there and waits for all the other tribbles in you inventory to eat and then takes 9 hours to eat afterward.
it looks like the reward will be given in F2P goes live on holodeck... they mentioned about 3 weeks... When... you Transfer your Character/Toon from Tribble to Holodeck.. this suggests you transfer your toon/character when they allow you too from tribble to holodeck.. and the gift for helping test the game will be for that character or toon.
Thank you for the privilage to be able to test the new F2P system. This is an honor and the only reward that is nessary for me. But I will gladly take whatever reward you guys give out. I just wish I had more time to play and test the game out. I have been exclusivly playing on tribble since it relaunched with the F2P content.
Now for a sugestion that I think will make life easier for all players in general. It has to do with the UI. When we adjust the UI instead of using the green interface to move and adjust everything could we just have the normal windows instead. Everytime I have to readjust my UI I have to keep going in and out to get everything just rite. It really is quite a pain because the green panels do not accuratly depict the accual interface correctly. They are either too big or too small and alot of times just slight adjustments cause the panels to overlap quite often especially on the space UI. Just a little sugestion.
I would love to make many of the award items so they are fully valued and tradable, but if we do this, then the item would be claimed once by one character.
I would prefer that the rewards have 0 economic value in game and claimable on every character like the Tribbles we have gotten on every test weekend since day 1.
Well, that was a bit underwhelming. Even so, its better than nothing, so thanks for the update. But hopefully we'll get some meatier info in the future.
Well, I have to say I got a new wallpaper out of this one. Double-click the image of the tribbles and its larger enough for use as a desktop image.
Now my computer has been overrun with the furry critters.
Regarding the offerings for those who test. ... I've no problems with it as its better than nothing.
Let us have the reward for every character please. Adding another item to sell on the exchange when the game is awash in credits now and when the exchange is no money sink isn't a good idea. It's also not nearly as good of a reward if you can only claim it once for one character. So please...unlock it for the entire account, make it untradeable.
Also, if it is a unique boff for example, please give us a boff slot to use it. Some of my characters have a full complement of purple boffs.
I would prefer that the rewards have 0 economic value in game and claimable on every character like the Tribbles we have gotten on every test weekend since day 1.
You've got my vote on that one. ... I have no desire to sell or trade the item. ... Just want to use it on which characters I wish to use it on.
So F2P is going to launch in 3 weeks regardless of the state of the game? Seriously?
What's currently broken is not going to be fixed in 3 weeks.
Are you sure that is what he was saying? ... I took it that he was saying the rewards would be given to us sometime within the three weeks *after* F2P launches.
I would prefer that the rewards have 0 economic value in game and claimable on every character like the Tribbles we have gotten on every test weekend since day 1.
I would prefer this also. Otherwise we effectively receive less for having purchased extra character slots and frequently playing STO. With over a dozen characters each one is played relatively infrequently and thus the rewards value is seldom seen.
Additionally, there is the whole exploitable aspect which seems to be being raised with dilithium rewards and would likewise apply to things like claimable and tradable DOffs. Claim - trade - rinse and repeat. While things like dilithium should be handled with a token that can only be claimed once a player reaches a higher level, preferably it is simply handled with unique items on most other rewards.

Can we get some DEV clarification on this please.
I'd like clarification as well. I don't want my interpretation of what was written to be true. My interpretation would be bad news for the game.

This is what he was saying. I see nothing in his phrasing that is confusing in the least way on this "question." It's the exact same thing as stated in the second post.

Though, I am curious if the breeding recipes have changed..
Happy Tribbling everyone
Anyways, good to hear about the updates. I hope they get the dilithium rewards up soon. I'll bet a lot of commanders are tired of their Lt Comm ships.

Its also nice to know my level 12 toon on Tribble has already earned the tribble reward.

Yes! I maxed my Fed, now to try and max a KDF.

A truly epic start!
If you don't mind staying in your Tier 2 ship because there's no way to make up the shortage when you promote to Commander.
