Finally got the Duty Officer thing to work.

After fumbling around with the tool for a while. I was able to get it to do something.

I had to go to the captain's ready room. That is where I was able to get a mission title "Federation Junior Officer Cadre". It takes 1 Day to complete after you start it. I can monitor the task in the Duty Officer tool while using the "In Progress" tab located on the left.

I hope this will recruit a junior officer to my ship. It appears these officers are separate from the ones we buy at the Space Dock. I bought a couple of officers from ESD, but they did not do anything with the tool.

I will have to report back tomorrow and see what happens once the recruit is aboard my ship.

I wonder if the developers are making a distinction?

Is it possible they are using the terms "Bridge Officer" to distinguish the crew for your ship's consoles, and they are using the terms "Duty Officer" to demarque the crew of the ship?

We will see as the beta test unfolds.

You can kind of "buy" Doffs from ESD, but it appears as an assignment in the Doff UI under the Sector tab and takes a day.
