    Ack!

I've always respected your openness and willingness to talk and communicate with the STO community. I can only hope that whoever the fleet pulls in to take command has the same attitude and willingness to participate on the forums and the wider community.

    Qapla' DStahl!

I'm going to lol if Craig Z. shows up as the "new" exec producer.

Hmm. Ok, now I'm starting to worry. I think DStahl was the best lead for STO, and he had a great handle on how to improve the game, IMO. Wasn't really worried about the sale to PW as long as he was still running the show, but . . . well, time will tell.

We'll miss you Dan! Best of luck to you, wherever you go!

This isn't the sign of a sinking ship. If anything, this is a sign of more exciting things on the way. Dan's done a wonderful job as our EP for STO, and I hope we can keep this thread to wishing him well, rather than doom saying. He had a very tough decision to make, and I'm really excited for the future that this decision brings him personally, as well as the possibilities for STO.

Zinc's busy with other things right now. :D Stephen D'Angelo, our Cheif Technical Officer, and former lead programmer on STO, will be taking the helm while we look for a permanent EP to step in and fill Dan's shoes.

Hard core trekkie will definitely be a requirement. :D

    Thanks,

    Stormshade

This game did pick up quite a bit in terms of quality while DStahl was in command. That said.....

    Live long, and prosper.

    But why?

If everything he said in this article was true, then why would he suddenly want to leave? It's not like he's just taking a break from being a director, either, he's cutting out of STO and Cryptic completely.

I love STO and everything it promises to be even by the end of the year, but the previous poster was right; if anything spells doom, this is it, unless there's some amazing personal reason behind it.

I'd hate to disagree with Stahl but I have serious doubts for STO without Stahl at the helm.

I'd hope the game would continue to do well without him but he seemed like the best thing that happened to STO. :(

And this puts our minds at ease... how?

Stahl was the best thing that happened to STO, but if he's gone off to pursue other endeavors, best of luck to him!

New Exec Producer! Hoch'i-miN. He's Chinese AND Klingon. xD Wouldn't that be something if PW installed an overlord into Cryptic?

Seriously though, good luck Dan... dunno where youre going, but hope its fun for you.

Well that's a damn shame... :( You're gonna be missed Dan. Despite the difficulties over the past few months you've led this game in to an unparalleled age of Dev/player communication, and the game has massively improved under your leadership. Here's hoping that your replacement will live up to your example and let us shoot them on test server on occasion. :p

Good luck for the future man. I'm sure I'll cross your path again at whatever company and project you are moving to. :)

I see no reason to panic, people get different jobs all the time, I know I've had my fair share.

Good luck Dan. Can't say I liked everything you did but you sure did a lot of good too. Thanks for the improvements to the game.

One: Dan - Ihink you did a hell of a job during a very difficult time. I wish you well in your future endeavours. I guess it was a very good or unexpected offer as from the STOked interview done just last week, it sounded like you were hanging around for the long haul; but hey, it's well know that turnover is high in the gaming industry and 3 years on a project (including the time in development) is a 'long haul'

Two: IMO - This couldn't have come at a worse time. I do hope the game goes forward in a positive direction; but I'm a bit nervous as I don't know if they'll find someone as passionate as DStahl was. I'm sure some folks are cheering this, but I'm a bit nervous as to where STO will actually go from this point forward. I have a LTS, so, good or bad, I'm in it for the long haul.

One of the best EP's to grace an MMO. His cander, dedication, and vision of where he wanted to bring STO will be truly missed. He will be an asset to what ever organization he moves onto.

    Good Luck!
