Hi
I need to wipe and reload my Win 7 installation and need a little advice.

I want to save myself the need to redownload 10Gb of patches once i have my system back up and running again.

If i back up the following directories and i correct in thinking that i can reinstall STO and copy these directries back to the correct directory and the game will use the .hogg files to patch the game and NOT redownload all the patches again?

C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\piggs
C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\prepatch\piggs

Also do i need to backup for Tribble and Redshirt the following or will the client copy most of the data from live?

C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Beta\piggs
C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Beta\prepatch\piggs

and

C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Playtest\piggs
C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Playtest\prepatch\piggs

Thankl in advance

I just reinstalled Win7. To have STO work, I just backed up the entire Cryptic Studio and all sub directories and copied it back to the new Win7 installation. Not an issue so far. Create a shortcut of the "Star Trek Online.exe" file and you should be golden. :)

You will not have to re-install STO

    Hi and thanks for reply

So if i keep a backup of the entire cryptic directory and just copy that back to any location on my hard drive once i have completed my reinstall STO will run without any problems?

Is it not better to reinstall STO and let it re patch itself because of registry entries and such?

I didn't reinstall STO, just copied over the files and I have had no issues. The registry entries will be created without the install. I just checked, they are there.
