Just finished painting the new Venture Class cruiser with my eyes....
Very nice; I must say that this is hands-down the best Cryptic starship design yet. It honors the legendary Galaxy class perfectly and yet stands tall with its own unique style. Beautiful.
....and this is coming from a TOS fanatic!
I am still trying to decide whether or not to keep the original Galaxy hull though. I love the shape of the Venture's but I prefer the Galaxy's deflector dish. Never the less, I am blown away at how much more lovely (to me) my ship is now.

Here are some high res pictures (warning, each one is over 1/2 a meg in size):
Nice little Eye of Sauron theme going there with the Aegis shield there
Yeah, I think that may just be the deciding factor over the Venture hull or Galaxy hull. Just switched to the Galaxy Hull, going to play with it like that for a bit, then switch again to see which I really like better. I guess what draws me about the Galaxy is that it is very iconic of the Enterprise-D. However, with the Aegis shield on, it looks totally different. So, I'm leaving towards the Venture Hull.
But yeah, the Eye of Sauron... *to the borg* I see you
It's really nice looking. I only wish it was't attached to the entire P2W issue.
I'm sorry I don't see how this ship is P2W at all. Its a optional skin for T4, T5 + the dreadnought and if anything ya lose a console slot if you choose to keep the console equipped. Same goes for the Vor'cha varient.

You forget the Venture class itself is a tier 4.5 Captain level ship with an extra ensign sci slot. While not game-breaking, I really wish they'd overhaul the tier system instead of flat out undermining it.

Oooo an extra ensign science, guess I'd have the extra lil fella to jam sensors or apply a weak science team.. You said it yourself that it isn't game-breaking so your arguement so thats hard to consider P2W, had it effected the more important end-game ship then I'd agree with you but the T4 ship probably needs the extra science to compensate for the the poor turn rate.

QFT for the poor turn rate. And... lol. the extra lil fella. Yeah... hehehe. Not exactly game breaking in the least. hehe.
You can be more respectful when addressing someone.
Now, the P2W theory is not based on how much more powerfule soemthing is, but whether or not it's available in game. The Vor'Kang, Venture, and Rhode Island are, as of right now, *not.*
It's a bad idea for Crytpic to continue to execute this plan, all the while TRIBBLE Golds out of a valued incentive to continue to pay $15/month.

The thing is all the other big MMOs are doing the exact same thing, even the monster known as WoW has items that can only be obtained out of game yet I doubt there is a huge uproar about it ono the WoW forums. I mean there is some items you can only get if you get it from the card game yet we have people moaning and whining about certain items that are only available on the C-Store for the moment. In the past few reports from Dstahl, he has said that there will be a way for all the ships to be obtained in game in the new future. That will happen when ALL currency is smashed into a single form and be used for everything.
So then you feel that the Imperial and other skins fall into that catergory aswell since they can only be obtained via C-Store.
1st, the Imperial is butt ugly.
Now that that's out of my system: The difference is that the Imperial is only a skin with no perceived advantages, because you can fly that or a Sovvy and expect nothing different. You cannot pay for power that does not exist. The Venture is a ship witth a different layout, skins for several ships, and a console. There, you *can* perceive to have an advantage, because the layout is different from other T4 ships.

The retrofits, while avaiable in the C-Store, were also released as being obtainable in game. This has not happened with the new ships. Technically, after the new dilithium system goes live, you still aren't getting the ship for free in game, because a) you still have to get it from the C-Store, and b) someone is paying RL money for the points that they are selling.
But maybe I should be glad that Cryptic isn't charging $70 for a monocle at this point.
I'm not a fan of a lot of the starship designs Cryptic have used in the game (many of them feel very un-Star Trek like) but the Venture is just really amazing, I think they completely nailed it with this one. I'd love to see more of the ships get similar designs.
The constitution and the akira would look especially cool with it
It is quite a nice design, even more so if you do a mix and match with the Galaxy class design. I did that with my character of Kate Beaumont's Galaxy class cruiser once I bought the Venture class.
Here's what she looks like, I've done comparsions as well with how the ship used to look before the Venture additions, the ship's name is the USS Interdum, it's Latin for Repair ~
Defintiely well desinged! I never liked the Galaxy class myself (Even before STO). This brings the whole thing a breath of fresh vacuum, and not only makes it bearable, but even attractive!

just AWESOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I fly my Gx everywhere now because of it! Now THAT is a 25th century looking ship.

Seriously, if your man parts look like that, seek your local ER stat!

(Just doesn't seem right to call it a Galaxy-X Class anymore)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who had that idea run through their head at seeing the name

I've stated that myself. I'm just against it being C-Store only.

If I ever get this skin for my captains, I'm re-naming my galaxy "Rusty".
