STO was playing fine yesterday, and now I can't log on without the client crashing. Ran a disc check, that didn't help. Uninstalled and reinstalled, that didn't help. I don't use xfire or any other form of game chat - someone suggested that might be incompatible, but that doesn't apply. So what's going on? Is there any fix for this?
There's a new wrinkle. I've tried to log on repeatedly over the weekend. Sometimes the crash happens when the Cryptic logo is on the screen, and a window pops up reading as follows -
Fatal Error: Direct3D driver returned error code (D3DERR_INVALID CALL) while creating a texture (D3DERR_INVALIDCALL while creating 2D texture size 1680 x 1052 (1 mips, RTEX_DXT1), 1.73 GB memory available).
Technical Details: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL while creating 2D texture size 1680 x 1052 (1 mips, RTEX_DXT1), 1.73 GB memory available
And sometimes the launcher says 'Error detected. Would you like to verify all files? This should take about 10 to 15 minutes' or something like that. Whether I click the Yes or No button, the game crashes during launch anyway.
If anyone could help with this I would really appreciate it.
It appears that my problem has been resolved. I updated my graphics drivers from ATI.com and successfully logged in. I'll continue this thread if it starts up again anytime soon, but if it doesn't then that's that.
DarkLord - both of you - I hope this helps. And if it doesn't, I hope you find something that works out for you.

Doing a verify and disabling steam/xfire does not change anything.
Is there anything there that needs help/updating/replacement/whatever? Do I need to add more information?
